Clean, friendly and well located

Largely felt clean but the standout is the staff, they were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you, especially the kind woman who checked me in. Easily walking distance to station and town centre.

Bed was quite hard, which is not my preference. Building and room need a little attention in general but to be expected in an older building which must require lots of maintenance. It's a beautiful old building and staff are very proud.

Good facilities, easy 20 minute walk into town centre. Would definitely go back in the future

Room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was lovely and worth the extra money. Facilities were great loved the gym, pool and steam room. Staff very friendly and helpful

Bed a little to hard for our personal comfort but understand they need to be hard wearing

It was a pleasant evening with the extra sitting room a bonus on top.

It had everything we needed with the minimum of fuss

The location was a little out of town but that reflected in the price

The staff are super friendly and helpful but the room needs redecorating and could be cleaner.

Bed was comfortable

The decoration of the room was very tired and needs redecorating. Bathroom a bit dirty. Too expensive for what you get.

Very pleasant stay - look forward to visiting again - this time with my swim suit .

Staff were very friendly and willing to help with any queries. Swimming pool looked very inviting though unfortunately I didn’t have a swim suit with me so was unable to try it.

The only tiny issue was that there was very little room to stand up in the bath to have a shower in room 15. I was assured on check out that this problem didn’t apply to other rooms.

Good location, plenty of buses opposite Hotel, to get into York centre, train station 15 minutes walk away and lovely clean room, pure white soft towels, couldn't fault anything and breakfast was delicious! Lots of choices!! Had a double room on ground floor and would definitely book again!

Ideally situated for Station, City centre and Racecourse. I cannot praise the staff and manager high enough. So friendly, nothing too much trouble. Room spacious, clean and comfortable, mabe a little bit dated. Hair dryer, fan, iron and ironing board in room (not listed in room facilities). Breakfast was lovely, amazing value for the cost. Served quickly and piping hot by friendly staff. Will definitely be returning.

We didn't have breakfast but family did they said it was lovely + plenty to eat. The location was just right not far from town center + the rooms were excellent

Was exactly what we wanted for our stay in York.

Excellent location close walking distance to city centre. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had a room at the rear, was very quiet. Clean and efficiently maintained with a large car park.

Appeared a little tired but to be fair the hotel is obviously undergoing a major renovation at the moment. Can’t comment on the food as we ate out in York, which was always the intention.

Comfortable and pleasant.

Due to our circumstances the staff were fantastic and went above and beyond. Big thanks to Chris and his hard working staff. We would highly recommend this Hotel.

Lovely stay

Breakfast was amazing and I enjoyed the swimming pool. Staff were incredibly kind, polite and ready to assist you when needed.

Staff at the hotel are lovely and can not do enough for you. Anything you need they are happy to help. The room was big and had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

did what it said on the tin, no frills stopover, convenient, clean & good value

easy check in, nice polite & friendly staff, rooms well furnished, & a hearty breakfast. Just a few minutes easy walk from the Town centre. Nice late check out time too, bonus

All good really, I parked my car too close to a tree......... full of birds with the predicted result in the morning !!!!
