the location and the gardens were superb
we paid for a days parking but were only allowed to park betweeen checking in and checking out times
this proved to be inconvenient

Staff, location, ambience.
Internet was very spotty. They said they were trying to solve this.

a hidden gem, smack bang in the centre of Yorks old town. the minster is a few steps literally to the right . this hotel is up there with the best I’ve ever stayed in.
nothing. couldn’t have been any better if they tried!

Lovely atmosphere, and the reception was marvellous. We were contacted to say the room was ready and we could book in as we had arrived early and dropped our luggage at the hotel. When we got there our luggage was in the room and we were given a tour of the hotel and taken to our room. Breakfast was excellent. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Excellent service. Beautiful building.
No full length mirror in the bedroom!

Had to wait a long time for breakfast but human error and order perhaps not placed, lovely food when arrived. Location perfect.
There wasnt hot water for shower/bath in the morning..The room was very small and disappointed no chairs..

The room was newly renovated. Staff was kind, helpful and a delight. Best night sleep during our 2 week vacation. Wish we could have stayed more than 1 night. The cookies and water they gave us on the way out was icing on the cake.
Not enough hot water for 2 back to back showers.

Brilliant location, lovely staff, beautiful house. The atmosphere is fantastic and everything feels very personal and familiar, almost more like staying in a private residence rather than a hotel. It's rare to find a place like this. It far outstripped my expectations and I would recommend it in a heartbeat.

The location is excellent, close to the York Minster and other must see sites in the city. The hotel has lots of character with lots of original features, the garden is beautiful, we were so lucky with the weather, we got to enjoy sitting outside.
The staff is polite and helpful, they are always willing to help . I would say the highlight of our stay was the Taster dinner, it was delightful, everything was just so fresh and delicious! I would definitely recommend it!

The breakfasts are lovely and staff are very friendly
The grounds are amazing. take time to explore them.
I didn’t like that we had to pay for the carpark.

wonderful location .. great staff.
The room was shabby and very tired . The pictures on the web site did not show accurately the condition of the room .
4.7
The hotel was wonderful and so were the staff . I have stayed at many hotels before but this was the best . I have to say that the young lady on reception must be fit as she carried our suitcases up two flights . The house keeping staff great to talk to and they showed some of the other rooms to us . We have booked to come back in the summer 2022 .
I have to say i was disappointed with the breakfast . My friend likes cereal first but no choise . The cooked breakfast was ok but the sausage to heavy looking and why streaky bacon . The bread lovely and jam and marmalade excellent . Good coffee .
4.7
The location.
The ambience of the place
The helpful excellent staff
Having to pay extra for parking

Breakfast was incredible, thank you.
Staff attentive.
View to garden was relaxing.
Frosted glass or net curtain needed in bathroom. Got to wave at people whilst on the pan :)
4.7
good location and can pay to park the car
Room smelt of sewage as problems with plumbing, very annoyed they did not tell us before we arrived at 6.30pm after a 6 hour drive.
Had to then desperately find alternative city centre accommodation in York, had to settle for an expensive inferior quality hotel.
Also not advised no TV's in hotel working due to TV mast fire.
4.7
The hotel was in a perfect location. The room was spacious with a lovely bathroom. The bed was comfortable , everything perfect.
The staff were friendly and helpful and always with a smile. We were welcomed by the young lady at the reception. She showed us around the hotel and made us feel at home.Special mention to her. The young man when we checked out was also kind and helpful.
Breakfast was lovely and the room was overlooking the beautiful gardens.
Nothing really. The bacon was not to our taste at breakfast.
4.7
Friendly staff.esp reception, will be back next year.
4.7
Hotel looked and was very impressive. Staff were very friendly and made sure we were comfortable at all times
Room got a little warm (no air con) but considering it’s a very old building and it was insane summer heat, perhaps not surprising!
4.7
Staff were exceptional. Property/Gardens are stunning. Food was excellent. The only booked evening meal we had was sensational. Next time we stay must book more.
Can't single anything out. Would be unfair and going out of my way to do so..
4.7
The gardens were absolutely beautiful. The staff were friendly and efficient. A lovely location a short walk to the centre
The bed was a bit small. Next time we will book a room with a larger bed
