About this house rental
Relax and absorb the beauty of living on the water at our 23 acre waterfront property on Harris Creek, in between historic St. Michaels and charming Tilghman Island. Our family has lived on this body of water for 10 generations and we would love to share the ambience with your family or group of friends.
The house was designed by DC architect, Richard Leggin and completed in October 2018 with 5,000 sq. ft. of awesome living space. There is a new 140 ft. dock and an outdoor pool with fence and tanning ledge installed October 2022. A 5 acre oyster aquaculture lease is located in the water cove behind the house. Guests of all ages enjoy fishing/crabbing/swimming off of the dock and beach area with a spacious lawn for croquet , cornhole, lawn golf, and fire pit. You may bring your own boat (or rent a boat at Tilghman Marina) to tie up at our dock. We invite you to observe the operations of our family owned oyster business, Harris Creek Oyster Company, and perhaps sample the product! Oysters are an ecological and sustainable product that benefit the Chesapeake Bay.
The farmhouse has a spacious/open floor plan with adjacent breezeway and detached garage/exercise room and full bath. There is a Master bedroom wing on the main floor with an additional master suite located on 2nd floor. The bathrooms have all glass shower doors and tile. The kitchen is bright and spacious with an 8 ft. quartz island, porcelain tile, 2 ovens, farm sink and wine/coffee bar. Family/TV room has granite wet bar. 2nd floor observation deck provides wide views of Harris Creek. There are 2 fireplaces (wood and gas) and entire back of house is encompassed by a 90 ft. brick and bluestone porch. Wake up to the sounds of watermen catching crabs for your evening dining pleasure at home or at any of the fabulous restaurants in St. Michaels or Tilghman Island. Explore the area with bikes and kayaks that are provided. Enjoy the evening with after dinner S’mores at our fire pit.

Our stay was an amazing family getaway with our son/daughter-in-law and 8-mo old granddaughter, also friends stopped for an overnight. It was perfect set up for what we were looking for. House was spotless and had all we needed to have a relaxing home away from home in a scenic setting. Pool, workout room, screened porch, dock for fishing and crabbing and kitchen allowed for many memorable moments. Access to STM and Tilghman were both convenient for our days and nights out for dinner. Hosts were informative and accessible and also their son spent time with us on the dock explaining the oyster operation and process. Highly recommend for families that want to spend time together on Eastern Shore.

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home! Everything we needed was provided & we had plenty of space! We loved the pool & the child’s pool attached was a huge hit with our one year old granddaughter!
We rented a boat from a local boat rental & parked it at the dock, which was so fun!
Home is beautiful & location is great! Highly recommend!

This house is spacious, beautifully designed with lots of areas for gathering and also for privacy. It is decorated for comfort, and is fully equipped. Everything indoors and out is immaculately maintained. The open porch looks out on a grassy expanse and water, allowing families to relax together, children and dogs to romp, and providing the perfect setting for kite-flying. The pool is extraordinary, and features a shallow L-section that is perfect for small children to safely play. Many people can function simultaneously in the gorgeous kitchen, and we loved eating in the screened in porch. We purchased the freshest possible oysters, farmed by the host family, at a shed right down the road. What a delicious treat! We can't wait to return to this house next year!

My husband and I, our 18-year-old son, my mother, and our Golden Retriever had a wonderful, relaxing week at this beautiful property. Lovely, peaceful location between St. Michaels and Tilghman Island. Kitchen was equipped with everything you’d need. Bedrooms were very private and quiet. Plenty of space to hang out and relax; we mostly spent time on the screened porch and by/in the pool. Communication with the owners was a breeze, and their availability if we had any questions or issues (we didn’t) was appreciated. We’ve been to the area several times and would gladly book this property again. Although we had a smaller group than we’d originally planned, this house could comfortably accommodate a larger family or group. Bonus: seeing herons, osprey, and bald eagles every day.

This was a return visit for me. Such an amazing home and the location is peaceful and quiet. It was the first time for my friends to visit the town of St. Michaels and they loved it. We all agreed we look forward to coming back again. The owners are very friendly and responsive to any questions. Highly recommend this home for your family get together.

Arrived on a Thursday for our daughter’s wedding weekend at the nearby CBMM. Upon arriving at the property for our stay with extended family members, we were so pleased with the beautiful accommodations! The house was sparkling clean and we were greeted with a small gift from the homeowners, which was very thoughtful! While our weekend was filled with wedding activities, it was so nice to return to this beautiful home for some quiet relaxation. The home offers multiple social areas, each with comfortable seating, and we especially enjoyed the view from the screened in porch! The kitchen, as well as the entire house, was stocked with everything we could possibly need. We unfortunately did not have time to enjoy the pool but it looked clean and inviting. We will definitely return to this home when we are back in St. Michael’s! ❤️

House and property were just what we needed - big, quiet, well-stocked, peaceful and owners were lovely. We’d definitely go back.

This property was a beautiful respite from the mad world. Comfy, with lovely views of the water and surrounding acreage. Great internet, well equipped kitchen and a nice manager of the property too.

The Oyster Farm House is a magnificent property in a beautiful setting on Harris Creek. Great kitchen, comfortable sitting rooms, inviting porches, screened and open. Very well furnished and provisioned with indoor and outdoor games, bikes etc. Conveniently located near biking, hiking, water activities and quaint Eastern Shore towns. Wonderful for a reunion of 4 long time couple friends.

We agree with so many of the previous renters in their descriptions of the home. It was a step above anywhere else we have stayed. It was the perfect location to spend time as a family. Lots of privacy and many things to do on the property. The restaurant recommendations were spot on, and we still can't get over how well stocked the kitchen was with every spice imaginable as well as supplies. We had a wonderful vacation at a beautiful home!

This is a truly unique and beautiful property. We spent four nights over Labor Day weekend and left wishing that we had many more.
All 23 acres are beautifully maintained, and they provide a true feeling of tranquility. We enjoyed exploring the property with our dog, and there was plenty of lawn area for soccer, frisbee, football etc. The pool area and new deck are fantastic and the kids spent the majority of our trip swimming endlessly. Last but not least, the wonderful Eastern Shore coastline. There isn't much better than having your morning coffee or evening beverage of choice while looking out at that coastline.
The farmhouse is beautifully maintained and very spacious. We had 7 people including 3 kids, and we never felt on top of each other at all. The kitchen has absolutely everything you could need and we cooked dinner there each night. All the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bathrooms are massive as well.
All-in-all, we couldn't have spent a better long weekend on the Eastern Shore. We made great memories and we hope to return next summer as well!

Our three generation family had a most lovely stay. The house was immaculate and so comfortably furnished. There was everything we could have possibly needed!
Kristin was prompt with her responses to our questions and provided great information on local restaurants.
We hired her son for an evening boat ride. It was great leaving from the dock on the property. We learned so much about oyster farming.
We have stayed in many VRBO properties and this one definitely ranked as one of the top ones! Highly recommended.

Just a few words to describe our family vacation at this remarkable property. A review cannot provide the experience of driving through St. Michaels passing the Inn at Perry Cabin, then turning onto the single lane road towards the property. Once you emerge from the trees, the view is the impressive and picturesque house surrounded by vast fields of soybeans.
Plenty of prior reviews have described the house and its numerous amenities in which we absolutely 100% agree. The modern kitchen and bathrooms were complimented by the charm and warmth of the rest of the house. Kristen and Jim answered any question and provided everything that you could possibly need or want on a vacation. Bikes, kayaks, fishing/crabbing dock, lawn games, grill/burner, fully stocked kitchen and an amazing house/property where everyone can be together or spread out for some downtime.
Aside from all of the above, it is a perfect location for going to St Michaels or Tilghman Island. We enjoyed biking to both St Michaels and Tilghman Island, golfing at Perry Links and had the opportunity to have a great day fishing with on a charter out of Tilghman Island.
This review is only a taste of the fantastic time our family (and 19 year old family cat) enjoyed at this amazing home. Our family has permenantly traded in our traditional South Jersey beach vacation and all of its annoyances for the relaxing yet active Eastern Shore lifestyle. Thanks!

This property is everything it says and more. The home is gorgeous and was clearly built for someone, not as a rental. Stocked with everything you could need and lovely extra touches like fresh flowers and a s’mores kit! It was a beautiful and relaxing week, quiet and fun and lots of wildlife wandering about. I’ve never stayed in such a nice rental either through the self/share sites or a company.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming house on the Chesapeake Bay, and it was perfect! We were captivated by the breathtaking views and the tranquil atmosphere.
The house itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated, and well laid out. The spacious living areas provided plenty of room for our family to relax and unwind, while the well-equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare delicious meals with ease.
One of the highlights of our stay was the boat tour that left from the pier just in the back of the house.
The location of the property was ideal for accessing the restaurants and sites both in St. Michael and in Tilghman.
We must mention the exceptional hospitality we experienced from the owners. They were incredibly attentive, ensuring that our stay was nothing short of extraordinary. Their recommendations for local attractions and dining options were spot-on, and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
We recommend this VRBO rental for anyone seeking a memorable and rejuvenating getaway on the Chesapeake Bay. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us!

Wonderful property for a family or friends get away! The home is large with an open plan layout that is nicely furnished with a well appointed large kitchen.
We enjoyed the pool, kayaking, crabbing of the dock ,relaxing on the deck , s’mores at the fire pit and off course all of the great MD seafood! Would definitely book again next year! Great time for everyone including our dogs . Kristen, the owner was extremely accommodating and quick to respond.

This house.. is fabulous. Plenty of space to spread out.. lots of outdoor areas to discover - nice walks - great views.. lots of privacy. Perfect amenities. I recommend this spot 100 percent. Oh yes! And it's a working oyster farm. Very special.

Absolutely amazing property! The house did. not disappoint either. Kitchen was fantastic for meal prep and gathering, the screened in sunroom was wonderful and the view of the view was breathtaking whether it was the water or the sunrise and sunsets. Spacious rooms and all amenities thought of, even crab traps to use!

The Wittman house was by far the best we’ve ever rented. Our family of adults gathered to celebrate my son’s 40th birthday and it was the perfect spot for the event — kayaks, a fire pit, ladder golf, croquet, and much more was graciously made available to us. There is plenty to do (and eat) in the area but it was hard to leave the house! It has so much beautiful space and is more well equipped than my own home. In their manual, the owners encouraged us to enjoy ourselves and we certainly did. Our sincere thanks!

My family and I spent two weeks at this wonderful property. The house was quite spacious and very comfortable. The owners checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. A special part of the property was a separate small house with extensive exercise equipment which we put to good use. Also there were two kayaks provided which we also used a lot.
Finally we were able to watch while one of the owners and his son worked in the bay with their oyster crates. They explained everything they were doing and to top it off, provided us with oysters! I highly recommend this property!

Kristen and Jim’s home was the perfect location for our family vacation. We enjoyed everything about the property: the grounds, the views, the time on the water, the INCREDIBLE kitchen, really every beautiful room… we could go on about each amenity with its own rave review. As for the hosts, they were communicative, helpful and gracious; and Captain Alex was a fun and knowledgeable local steward during the boat excursions. The access to local seafood was also ideal; we highly recommend Wittman Wharf for fresh oysters and Maryland crabs! We couldn’t have asked for a better week, and hope to return again. Thank you Kristen and Jim for your superb hospitality!

This home is so peaceful and beautiful. We used the home for my son’s wedding week in St Michaels. It was great for a small family gathering and my son had his wedding party get ready at the home. They had a wonderful afternoon and we’re able to get many great pictures.

The property is amazing. Kristen was amazing with getting us settled. However what is not mentioned is her husband deals mainly with the property. He showed up multiple times unannounced. He was extremely cold and rude from the minute we checked in. The weekend was to bring our immediate families together to celebrate our engagement and he ruined that. Left an extremely bad taste in our mouth, I regret to say. We were so looking forward to this. Check-in was at 4pm. My parents showed up 12 mins early, unlocked the gate and proceeded down the driveway. Within minutes he was coming down the driveway, must have been watching from somewhere. Even though we had the code given to us he questioned if we even belonged at the residence, and proceeded to comment on us being 10 mins early. 10 mins. The next day we had 5 additional guests for a few hour dinner with 2 of which had their wives, to exchange gifts for accepting to be in our bridal party. Our trash was full and we did not want animals to get into it so I reached out asking if he needed to me to take it somewhere. While we were seeing a potential wedding venue, he came to the property. He did not just dispose of the trash he looked through it and commented on things he found. He was in the backyard popping balloons that we had in an arch for pictures, as if we would not dispose of it ourselves. Immediately upon arriving he absolutely scolded us. I felt like we were children and he was an angry parent. Tents were set up in the backyard for 2 two year olds a 6 year old and their father to sleep outside that he was not fond of. Later that evening, he sent me an email pointing out things he was upset with. One of which was he mentioned candles that we had set up and needed to have a fire extinguisher near by. The ONLY WAY he could have known this is if he was snooping around the property, LOOKING INSIDE the windows or who knows GOING IN WHILE WE WERE GONE. OH forget to mention the doors do not lock so he is free to enter whenever he pleases. Candles were battery powered! For the rest of the trip we felt disgusted. Were constantly wondering if he was looking in and thought we were hearing things. Could not enjoy. On our final morning (checkout was at 11) they had people cutting the grass at 9am! Could not even enjoy our coffee overlooking the water on the final morning. They had over 24 hours to work on the property before the next guests but chose to do it then. WILL NOT STAY AGAIN.

Wonderful House by the Water
A well-designed and modern house in very relaxing and peaceful area. Lots of space both inside and out, and a beautiful natural setting to relax. Great place for getaways, family getogethers or just using as a quieter base to explore St. Michael’s and the eastern shore.

First-rate accommodations and host
The home and property were well-tended and the host is easily available. Rooms are well-laid out for a family vacation - ours included a toddler and a four-legged friend. The exercise room was perfect for the windy days and the beautiful water view was tranquilizing, made even better in the evening with the moonshine reflections. Clean, comfortable with any amenity you could imagine needing. Wonderful spot. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Farmhouse with Gorgeous Views
We rented this property over the holidays and had a truly wonderful stay. We love the Eastern Shore of Maryland because of the natural scenery and beauty and have spent a lot of time in the area previously. This home and property exceeded our expectations. It's a gem!
The house itself is beautiful, fully updated, and has gorgeous views of the creek. The property is very large and private. Our family enjoyed biking on the country roads around the property, playing yard games in the back, and just relaxing and enjoyed the scenery. We loved seeing all of the wildlife too from geese to ducks and maybe even a sika deer. While it was too cold to swim during our stay, the dock was great and would be the ideal place to crab, fish, kayak, and swim in the warmer months.
The location near St. Michaels is perfect. You can get into the adorable town of St. Michaels in 10 minutes where there are lots of cute boutiques and restaurants. The Inn at Perry Cabin has an awesome spa too and is super close. We also drove 1 hour to Cambridge to visit the Black Water Wildlife Refuge and Harriett Tubman museum - we highly recommend both. Easton is also very close and has an adorable downtown.
Kristen and her adult children were so nice and welcoming and even dropped off some fresh oysters they had just harvested. The check in with super easy, and they were very responsive during our stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already looking at dates to re-book! Thank you to Kristen and her family!

Perfect Getaway Spot With Friends
A group of seven friends in our early 50s spent a wonderful long weekend at this beautiful house in early October. We spent a lot of time enjoying the water view while relaxing, and chatting. The house is so well situated for this as well as for indoor/outdoor dining. We ate every meal in the screened-in porch and after dinner moved inside to the living room in front of the fire well into the evening. We all remarked how comfortable the beds were as well. Absolutely great spot!

A cross between a luxury hotel and a cherished family estate
We loved our time here. The house, the grounds, the surroundings are all amazing and absolutely beautiful. Very relaxing yet lots to do. Everything we needed for a fabulous weekend was there and available for us to use. The only downside to staying here is having to leave.

Wow
This place has been my favorite rental I have ever stayed at. I felt like I was in a movie, this place is so amazing. The peacefulness and beauty of this property cannot be overstated. There is nothing around you but farm land and the bay. The quiet and lack of traffic noise is beautiful. Watching the nature is beautiful too->tons of deer, rabbits, birds, it is a wonderful place. The house is unbelievably gorgeous, I can't believe they rent this place out. The master bedroom is incredibly comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen are to die for. We also appreciated the small touches the owners left for us, such as two dog cookies for our great dane. We had such a wonderful experience, I would rent here again in a heartbeat.
