The location directly on the beach surrounded by palm trees was amazing, even though a bit hard to get to (~15min walk from main street which can be exhausting with luggage). Employees were very friendly and helpful. Beach super nice - we had it to ourselves.
Bed very small, mattress super uncomfortable (we always woke up with big back pain). Switching to another hut with other bed wasn't possible.
At two nights the restaurant was closed without notifying us so we didn't get anything proper for dinner. They even charged us big time for the small sandwiches and fruit plates we got as compensation.
The location is directly at the beach, but nothing around. Burritaca (next village) has nothing really to offer. Next bigger town Palomino is >30min away by bus.

the beach (but you can not swim in the sea )
RUN AWAY !!!!
The fact that we leaved the hotel after one night of stay says everything. It' the wprst raport price quality that I had for a hotel.
Some points which made us decide our leave:
cleanless: curtains and walls dirty, sheets stained (don't use the excuse of water, if you can't clean it, let a professional doing it), dust not cleaned.
isolation: we want to stay in a hotel, not to participate to survivor. bats (yes, bats), cockroaches, moschitos and ants (we had a candy and in 2 min our backpack was full of ants). remake the isolation of the bungalows, it existed.
fan: even at max was useless. replace it with something adequate. difficult to sleap in the heat
equipements: old,
food: very poor and expensive for what it is, the refrigerator was placed just near reception so you can see all the frozen stuff served
personal: polite, but they lack of initiative. when we anounced them that we are leaving we saw no sign of courteasy
Go to the neighbour resort to inspire how to preapare the rooms. They have the same concept.

Really beautiful place. Big cabanas under palms trees with an open bathroom to the sky. Large secluded beach for long walks. Good food. Nice bar. Lovely place for couples, families or friends. About an hour walk on the beach (passing several hotels and hostels) to the mouth of Buritaca river where lots of restaurants and bars can be found. About 20 mins walk to the main road where buses between Santa Marta and La Guajira pass. About 10 min moto taxi ride from the center of Buritaca.

The hotel staff was welcoming and available - the kitchen even made us a meal that was not on the menu because we were sick. The common area and rooms were clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The hotel has access to the beach, even though the sea current was dangerous during our stay. Breakfast was good and the menu offered a wide range of possibilities for both lunch and dinner. Tayrona park is only a ten-minute drive away and you can walk by the sea-side to either Buritaca or Valencia waterfalls.
I wouldn't say these are negative points but more like things to take into consideration before coming: there can be insects in the bedroom since most of the cabins are not completely closed. Wi-Fi works in the common area only and some cabins didn't have signal. There is no swimming pool so if the sea is on a red-flag, you won't be able to swim. Last, our mosquito net in the bedroom had a hole on top of it.

We liked especially the place and the food, that included very good and varying vegetarian options.
The requested information about getting there and leaving by public transport (bus from/to Riohacha) was simply not correct: From the main road it does definitely take more than 8 minutes walking with your luggage from the main road to Playa Bonita and it is not as easy to catch a bus at the main road, you have to go to Buritaca.
The last night of our stay there was no way of sleeping because of a wedding with very loud music, that we were not informed about before.

I loved the place. The beach is beautiful, the lodge is planned to detail and very quiet.
I traveled with my dog and she was able to walk freely all around. We were very glad to find this beautiful dog friendly ecohotel and hope to be back. Santiago was the reason we arrived to the ecohotel, with excellent precheckin service. They arranged all the transfers for us (reasonable prices) and a great massage with Luna. The evening at the beach was beautiful. And the sky open shower was an awesome surprise, I loved it!!
