This was our second stay in the property. It’s a beautiful location and the cottage is well appointed and comfortable. Our first stay in Oct 2022 was excellent, so we returned in Jan 2023. Sadly our second visit was a nightmare.
Sadly on second night the heating/hot water broke down overnight so the cottage was freezing when we woke up. We informed the owner whose son came to fix it. He spent ages then left to pick up a pump. Meantime we were stuck in the cottage waiting to see if it would be fixed. He came back and started pumping the system. The smell of the oil became overwhelming. My children were feeling nauseous and my almost 80 year old dad and I had headaches, so we opted to go out for a while. We were unable to do what we had planned because if the heating couldn’t be fixed we would need to pack up and go back to Glasgow. When we got back the heating was on. Less than ten minutes later it broke again. My husband was shown how to restart it by the owners son. Over that night he had to restart it several times, eventually giving up.
At the start of it all the owner offered us an extra day or two free of charge, which was kind. However, when it became apparent that the heating was not easily fixed, we decided we had to go home. The owner asked me if I’d heard from Hoseasons yet, because she’d been in touch with them to explain the situation. I hadn’t so she said she’d follow it up, and make sure they contacted us. She actually said we could expect “Hoseasons to offer us a free holiday”. When we heard nothing I contacted the agent I’d used, Booking.com. After much chasing it up I was told that the owner refused to refund our holiday because she’d already offered compensation! I am so disappointed that the owner feels offering us additional days stay in a cold cottage with no hot water was suitable recompense for a wasted holiday. In conversation with her just before we left she admitted it was a bigger job than they’d realised. There is a large oil tank in the garden and it had allowed water into the oil. The entire system would need flushed and wouldn’t be possible with guests there due to the smell and she agreed leaving was best. Booking.com have offered us £43.

It was cosy and clean. Great locations. And the horses were a bonus for the children.
The process to pay through booking then cottages.c and not receiving the email with the informations before arriving

It was in a quiet village. The cottage had 1 room on the ground floor and 2 of them on the first floor. The access was from within the cottage. It had a big bathroom downstairs and a toilet only on the upper deck.
It has a big kitchen and all facilities were provided. The cottage is off to a road and there is a unpaved track that leads to the cottage but we felt very safe.
The owners stay inside the campus on another cottage. We liked the location as it was about 2 miles off the main north wales expressway and also about 3-4 miles away from Tesco Extra.
Parking is no problem and overall, the owners were available as desired.
The location is about 1 hour drive from Manchester and 50 min from Liverpool. About 30 min from Chester City as well as Cheshire Oaks, the big shopping mall. Also about 30 miles away from Llandudno. Overall, if we want to say here for few days and also do a bit of driving around the main cities.
If you want a very relaxing holiday and want a lots of walking around the village Lloc, it also suits you. There is also a big green meadow off the cottage. Overall, very good.
The area was a bit secluded but safe.
