It’s a traditional Riad yet with modern amenities. Food was superb.

Complete surprise when you enter the door of the hotel: a real palace with a warm welcoming staff.
We enjoyed our stay very much; Thank you All!

The staff treated us like family! Ibtissam, Ayman & Hamid went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. Ibtissam would check in everyday to ask what we wanted to do that day, make suggestions, and book tour guides for us. She even arranged for a picnic lunch for the day we drove up into the mountains. There was literally nothing that Ayman would not do for us, including personally walking us over to the market one day and sitting with us at the end of the each day on the roof top patio to share his knowledge and passion for Morocco. Hamid was always there with a smile as he poured our coffee and greeted us warmly when we returned each night. These individuals made our visit very special. The Palace itself was so far beyond our expectations. When we first arrived, Ayman came outside to help us deal with our taxi driver(he must have seen us on the security cameras) he smoothed things over and showed us the way to the Palace. We were served mint tea while Ibtissam shared the history of the Palace and then shocked us by showing us to the Royal Suite. We couldn't have it for all three nights but she said that it was available for the one night and she thought we would enjoy it!! The room we moved to the next day was equally breathtaking. Why would you stay in a hotel when you can stay in a PALACE?! Definitely the most unique place that we have ever had the privilege to stay at! The roof top patio was amazing. I can't describe the beauty and awe of hearing the call to pray as the sun is going down over the historic city of Fez. I should also mention that the food is made by the owner's MOM!! Definitely try some of Mama Fatima's Moroccan dishes; the food was beyond excellent! I would like to thank Ibtissam, Ayman & Hamid for your exceptional service but most importantly for your genuine friendship. We feel deeply grateful to have met you and to have stayed in such an amazing place!
We had a hard time with the tv but Ayman and Hamid came to our room and showed us to how to use it; might be a good idea to have a little card with some instructions/directions. As grateful as we were to be able to have wine, it would have been great to have had other options (e.g. beer and for me, cava or champagne).

The hostess Sama was incredible, very helpful in getting dinner reservations and escorts through the old town maze. she’s a local professional with insider knowledge on everything from shopping to guides. absolutely stunningly beautiful Riad.
The spa looked amazing but we didn’t have time to enjoy.

The riad is gorgeous! More beautiful than the photos online. Our room was amazing and the bed was huge and so comfortable. All of the staff were so helpful and kind and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. We played chess in the courtyard before dinner one evening and had the entire place to ourselves. The location for dinner on the terrace was lovely and so was the breakfast room the following morning. The riad was extremely easy to get to - just up a little walkway from the taxi to the front door.
We didn't love the food. We had dinner on the terrace and breakfast the following morning and were disappointed with the quality of both meals. The bread was stale on both occasions, the beef tagine was dry and tough (we didn't eat it). We had better food elsewhere during our stay. Just a note for light sleepers. The room isn't sound proofed so you can hear a lot of noise from the busy street below and inside the riad. We always bring ear plugs when we travel so we didn't mind at all but it's worth noting!

The riad is an amazing palace. Intricate art at every turn. Smells of orange blossom and mint. Mosaics and copper abound. The reception is so kind and welcoming. You feel like family from the moment you arrive. Breakfast on the roof is a treat.
Some cons: they had a “professor”, who is supposed to give us a tour of architecture, and he was rude and only showed us to a carpet store with hard selling salesman. They said that they wouldn’t do that for future guests, but I wanted to comment just to make sure that that is the case.
Although the people who work, there were lovely and such hard workers, I believe that the owners should hire more people, because there was inconsistent service. The general manager was pulled in all directions, there was not freshwater in our room. We had to ask for it multiple times. we did not have sufficient towels. We did not have a kettle in our room and the people we were traveling with didn’t have a telephone in their room. The general manager said that all we needed to do is dial zero to get anything. I tried that, but there was no answer. Again, not because the staff were not very hard-working but because the owners are not staffing it sufficiently.
Although the breakfast was delightful, the dinner for an additional fee was average.

The property is a beautifully restored and elegant Riad. Samaa and Hamid are so attentive and always eager to help with any detail you need, arranging drivers for you, dinner reservations, and always with pleasure . They are an outstanding team that I feel I can call my friends! The rooftop breakfast ( and dinner) location has beautiful exotic decor. It was a wonderful way to start the day. Our stay was 4 nights . The Royal suite was wonderfully spacious and was a great place up relax after a busy day in the Medina.

We absolutely loved our stay at Riad Fes Maya!! We felt extremely welcomed by Samae, who made us feel very comfortable throughout our stay. Our room was gorgeous, clean, and spacious, with incredible stained glass windows. Breakfasts and dinners at the Riad were amazing, cooked by the wonderful chef Mama Fatima! We particularly enjoyed the beef tajin, which was perfectly cooked. Additionally, the staff, including Hamid, Anwar, and Saida made sure that our every need was met during our visit. Finally, we loved the Hammam at Riad Fes Maya, which was relaxing and unique. We are so grateful for our amazing experience and would highly recommend this Riad to any traveler!

I really enjoyed the dinner in the roof top garden. It was so nice to be able to have a great dinner in a beautiful place.

The Riad was as beautiful as advertised and as other reviewers have mentioned. The host Sumae (if i recall her name correctly) was very welcoming in the beginning of our check in with snacks and hot mint tea. The room and bathroom were clean and the shower was nice with no shortage hot water. The WiFi worked. The two male assistants were very nice and cordial. Sumae, the host, was thoughtful in providing us with a to-go bag of breakfast full of fruit, water, and really tasteful breads since we had to leave very early in the morning. Didn't try the hammam spa so I cannot speak to that.
Overall, the stay was a bit unnerving. Sumae was very pushy about having us commit to a tour, dinner, hammam spa during check in. We were exhausted from traveling and just wanted to get to our room to decompresss. When we asked about getting back to her about dinner she told us that its a risk it could get completely booked up later (we ended up being the only party there by the time we actually showed up which is not surprising given how the food tasted). I begrudgingly consented to the tour and the tour guide literally shows up 5-10 min later and we are asked to leave for the tour before we even had a chance to get up our room. I understand it was later in the day but at least give us a chance to decompress for 10 minutes! As soon as the tour starts, the guide takes us to a few points of interest, takes some lousy pictures of us and the whole time he's walking so incredibly fast that we have trouble keeping up. The tour then devolves into a shopping tour much to my disappointment. Most of the shopkeepers were nice and not pushy with the exception of the carpet guy who was incredibly annoying. Biggest scam ever - the carpets, while they are nice quality are not worth more than $1000-2500 despite what he tells you so I would not recommend paying any more than that. I'm sure the Riad and tour guide also get a cut of the profits. The room had a musty like odor and the beds were not comfortable at all. Could hear everything from the inner courtyard facing windows. The dinner was the worst meal we had in Morocco and overly expensive. Upon check out, I was also asked to promise to rate this place a 10 on booking.com, how ridiculous. All in all, this place does have some redeeming qualities but the host (while she is very nice) is just way too pushy about selling extras which no other Riad I stayed in did and it was very off putting for me. Others may like that as noted in their reviews - to each their own I suppose. Would not recommend.

Very well renovated historical building, decoration is impressive. It is located in Medina, walking distance to Chouara Tannery and the old market area. Hotel provide dinner service as well, not only breakfast. Staff are polite and helpful. Special thanks to Sama for her hospitality and her assistance during our visit.

We were told that Riad Fes Maya was built by a pasha; it's the most sumptuous hotel I've ever stayed in. Tile, carved plaster and wood everywhere. The bedroom was large and comfortable. Breakfast on the roof in a glass room with a wonderful view.
The emails had a bit of a hard sell so if you're not comfortable saying no thank you, this may not be the place for you.

Probably the most beautiful Riad in all of Morocco. everything about the Riad was beautiful. The host was very sweet and very knowledgeable in all aspects. Every worker there made sure me and my friend enjoyed our stay and felt as if we were at home. If I had any question they always had an answer! I would definitely book this place again in the future!

STUNNING 800-yr old museum that we got to stay at.
Everything was perfect except the overzealous, salesmanship from the front desk lady (Sama). she was good but I was wish she wouldn’t push so hard with her sales pitch.

It is simply beautiful and stunning. The place is really very different and beautiful.
You have to live here for sure! The views from the terrace are also stunning.
The staff is also nice and quick to solve any issues.
Note - there are a few reviews which mention about staff being salesy/pushy in their approach (which worried me initially) but in my opinion, it's just more stylistic and everyone is genuinely nice and caring.
The breakfast was average comparing to the other riads i had lived in so far. Outside of that, there are small things which lacked some attention to detail.
Having said that, i would still live here any day again.

The breakfast was delicious. Came out fast. The Moroccan coffee and tea were fabulous.
This is a beautiful riad managed by the best, Samae. She was very attentive, taking care of all the details and making sure that you are comfortable. I felt like if I was at home. Samae went far and beyond to fullfill every request and she loves what she does ❤️ You can tell. Everything was wonderful. The whole experience was magical. The first day that we arrived, we didn’t want to go anywhere else, we wanted to stay at the riad enjoying the peaceful dreamy place.

The location is good and the staff tried hard after an epic disaster of a first evening.
During check in the staff asked about the fact that I am Caucasian and my wife is Chinese and commented what an interesting mix. I was very offended. There was a significant high pressure sales tactic to use Hotels guides in the Medina as the locals were not to be trusted. We also had a terrible room off the lobby - ER very phone call, every foot step could be heard and I am sure vis Versa

Beautiful building and beautiful rooftop. Rooms were lovey and well equipped. The young boys helping out were great. The service was very attentive (although almost too attentive!).
Had a slightly unnerving feel to it, with services and upsells being pushed on to you all the time (dinner, spa, tours).
This would be ok if they were all great but the restaurant was mediocre for dinner and the tour guide was consistently dishonest to us.
