The exceptional breakfasts served to us in a private room. The helpful manager and staff. The delightful onsen. The fact that it was off season and quiet. We had on site parking and easy access to the snow monkey park and mountains resorts.
The hotel is showing its age and the bathrooms could do with some updating.
3.6
close to the train station.
not many varieties of breakfast.
3.6
friendly staff, comfy and spacious room, faboulous onsen (even with outdoor pool!), great location near station, also good starting point to a beautiful hike to Snow Monkey Park

the breakfast, onsen and hotel location.
Unable to arrange dinner for all 4 nights

very close to Yudanaka Station and many food options nearby

Extreme nice view
Very nice onsen
Big rooms and nice tatami mats to sleep on.
No Breakfast possible. It at least we couldn't understand each other
The hotel is a little old but in fine condition.

comfortable room. dinner and breakfast (both Japanese) meals were good. staff were nice.
Parts of the building look quite shabby (especially the ground floor where the dining room and onsen are located). onsen really needs better cleaning.

Check in was incredibly easy and they offered free soba between 8 and 9pm. Parking was very easily accessed and spacious. The onsen was wonderful with both indoor and outdoor soaking baths. Outdoor is super hot, which we enjoyed. I didn't see any signs about no tattoos and nothing was said at check in, so that was great for us. The bath tubs in the room were nice deep soaking ones. Soap, shampoo and conditioner all smelled good. The sleeping mats were comfortable enough for a one night stay and there were extra available if you wanted extra padding. The heat worked well in the room. We had a great view of town from our room and the roof top terrace was nice to go up to and enjoy the views there, just be careful if it's snowing, it's slippery (duh). It was a very nice stay, a bit pricey, but for one night in Nagano our family enjoyed it. There are also lots of places to eat around the hotel, but hard with a big party (7). We ended up at a snack bar drinking and singing karaoke and then got dinner at Lawsons afterward :) The hotel is close to many Nagano attractions.
I would have liked a coffee option in the room, There were only tea packets. We did not call and ask for any other options since there is a Lawsons very close. We didn't reserve breakfast with our reservation either. The walls are thin so you can hear doors opening and closing and voices, which means everyone can hear you too. None of this would prevent us from staying again.

Absolutely amazing hotel a short distance from the train station (but not loud at all). Beautiful views, spacious rooms, and indoor and outdoor onsens! The onsens were open for most of the day and shut at midnight which is great for people who get back late from day’s activities like us - even started to snow one night while outside in the onsen which was magic! There were also free soba noodles provided at night and tea and coffee in the day, friendly service, and very comfy beds. I already want to stay again!
Nothing - it’s stunning

Excellent view. Very large room. 2 min from train and bus station. Shop open 24 hours just nearby
Very nice Onsen

Outdoor bath, modern dining area. Free ramen from 8-10pm! Free, good quality coffee in the morning.
Room was a bit dated. Didn't get bedbugs or anything but walls were yellowed n didn't look nice. But for the price I guess it was to be expected. Bathroom shower pressure & heating was abysmal - not a big issue since there is a public bath but if there was going to be an ensuite, it might as well be better equipped...

the staff tried to do their best.
the level of cleanliness was not japan standard at all. rooms were old looking. the terrace deck was empty. onsen area wasn’t the cleanest too.
3.6
good location, only few minutes from the station and shops, restaurants

We were in Yamanouchi for a pleasure trip. The Hotel is close to the station.
It is a very classic Japanese hotel. The room is spacious and the bed is arranged on the tatami floor. It was a good experience. The room has plenty of storage.
We did not opt for breakfast, however, there is a convenience store "Lawson" very near to the Hotel, and we can grab some coffee and eatables from there. And then you can have it either from your room, where they have arranged a coffee table and chairs close to the window with a nice view of the town and the landscape. Or, there is a large camping space with enough tables and seats outside of the hotel.
The rooms were clean, and the staff was very friendly.

The food was traditional and very good. I wonder why so many staying guest did not eat at hotel. It was more delicious then any restaurant in that area.
Building needs reform. It is old property. Washrooms, bath and hot spring was also old.
3.6
The staff were very friendly, the natural hot spring onsen was perfect, the location was easily accessible to many different attractions (we went by car).
The breakfast was also worth the extra cost as you get a full Japanese breakfast which was delicious.
I think the hygiene was not tip top but for the price and considering all the great things about this place I was willing to overlook it. Only some parts of the room like the window sill was a little dusty/had some mould.
3.6
The view from my window. The location is convenient. There’s a taxi stand, convenience, store, public baths and restaurants
The breakfast served wasn’t good. 🥴
3.6
hostapility, cleaness, hot-spring, silentness
none

Good location really close to the train station and to a konbini.
The foreigner staff was really friendly.
the hôtel have good quality for price with both Japanese style room and Japanese style with western style bed, it was really quiet at night.
Really warm ambiance in the lounge, there is a shop with a lot of camping gear. Also the rooftop is huge and you can chill out watching the stars!

Great value for a reasonable price. This old property has been renovated nicely. Staff were few but kind and helpful. Facility is clean; we chose not to have our rooms cleaned daily, just trash and towels taken care of. The hotel hot spring was hot but very nice; outdoor onsen is under big trees. This hotel is right above the Yudanaka train station and a few minutes from the main hotel/shop street. Our son loved watching the trains and busses from our room; rooms on the other side have a mountain view. We got breakfast included-- Japanese style meals. Glamping on the hotel property is also an option. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is very near to the train station (Yudanaka Station). All staff are very accomodating and friendly.
None.

*The facilities were excellent
*The dinner and breakfast were both great
*The cost of the room plus a traditional kaiseki (multi-course) dinner was much cheaper than most places I’ve been to in Japan that offer such a service
*The place isn’t the easiest to get to since you need to take a bus or taxi from the train station. There’s a free shuttle service but it can get really cramped.

The location of this hotel is very convenient just next to udanaka station.
The rooms are very spacious with all the amenities and the Onsen was clean and wonderful.
I enjoyed my stay and recommend this hotel.

What a great place. In the mountains, very close to the trainstation and bus.
The personel is fantastic. Very kind. It is possible to camp outsite!
The hotspring is very hot and Nice. Women and man separated. Its a traditional Japanse onsen.
The room and breakfast were aso typical Japanse. Nice for the experience. The location is also perfect to Go to snow monkey and for a relax day. Downstairs there a Nice Seats to sit.
A bit old but sufficiënt.
The Japanese room didn’t smell so great. But we were in the summer and could let the Windows open.
