Location and the host. This was an economy room, very small, not en suite, but exceptionally low priced. It suited me as a solo traveler.

Location is perfect, so nice and quiet and only a short walk down to Duthie park or to the city centre. There is a little supermarket nearby for supplies and the bed was super comfy! The hosts were very accomodating and helpful during my stay.

Good location in quiet area, close to the city centre and transport links.
Don't book single top floor room if you are claustrophobic, I am not so it was ok.

Easy to walk to from the bus station. Comfortable surroundings with pleasant owners. Responded well to a few enquiries I had. Felt safe, as I am a vulnerable adult & enjoyed my stay. Would definitely stay again if I'm up to Aberdeen again. The price was amazing.
The advertised room said it had a microwave, but didn't. The kettle lid was broken, so I couldn't fill it up well. The kettle also didn't pour well, so I had to pour it over the sink to catch the water. The shared bathroom was hard to get used to.

Location
They told me they could check me in between 5-6pm and I arrived well within that time. I rang the bell but there was no answer and so I was left waiting in the dark outside for about half an hour until another guest came out.
When I entered there was nobody there to check me in. There was a desk in the hall but no instructions. I shouted out but nobody appeared.
I found the contact number online. I called the guest house but nobody answered so I left a message saying I had arrived, had a booking but nobody was there to check in with, could they call me back. They didn't.
Eventually found a lockbox in the dark that they hadn't bothered to telephone to tell me about. An email on day of travel that I hadn't picked up. However, there were no check-in instructions, no info on layout of property or the facilities.
The free breakfast advertised does not exist and it was not en-suite, the latter not very well advertised when making the booking.
Nobody EVER called me back so I was stuck again next morning as nobody there to do check out with!
Pretty poor and bad attitude from staff when they finally decided to show up - by text message after I had left, demanding to know when I was checking out!
There were NO facilities to check out! Nobody had called me back and nobody in sight to help, so had to guess where best to leave the key. Really not the stress or taking up time I needed when trying to get to conference.
Customer service completely non existent. Do yourselves a favour and find somewhere else.

Nice clean and spacious room on ground floor. Area felt safe to walk around.
Not on direct bus route though able to walk to main Train and Bus Stations, also Union Street and Holburn Street.
