It’s within walking distance to the historic Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, “Crows Nest” (a wonderful Oceanside restaurant and bar – which can be seen across the harbor from our home), “Aldo’s” (renowned for breakfast or lunch), Johnny's Harborside and other great restaurants and nightlife. You can rent a Kayak or take a Sunset Cruise on the Chardonay Catamaran. So many options available from this great location!
Only 10 driving minutes to nearby Capitola, and 45 to 60 minute drive to Monterey and Carmel.
The house is approx. 2,150 sq ft and on 3 levels.
You enter on the entry level where you will find the living room, dining area, kitchen, den, full bathroom, and deck with Charcoal BBQ grill and outdoor furniture. Den, with couch that can convert to full size bed, can be completely closed off to provide an additional private room.
Up 1 level is the master bedroom (king bed), full bath, and small balcony.
Down 1 level from the entry you will find 2 bedrooms, a large bonus/sitting area, full bathroom, washer/dryer and deck (with outdoor shower). 1st downstairs bedroom has a king bed. 2nd bedroom has a king bed & and 1 twin bed. 2 twin beds are located in the bonus/sitting area.

Pros: amazing view of the harbor, close to beaches, boardwalk etc; most of the beds were comfortable, host dropped off more supplies when needed, kitchen cabinets and washer/dryer new
Cons: both balconies had multiple loose railings which was very stressful for little kids, lots of dust everywhere, previous party decorations were left up, they do not provide any kind of towels/hand towels/washclothes unless paid an additional fee, broken lamps, several outlets/light switches broken, master bedroom bed was very uncomfortable and metal frame broken underneath, interior doors do not close all the way, bathrooms very dated, outdoor shower not functional.

Overall the experience was very good. I want to be honest about the place. The location is perfect. Everything is very walkable and the floor plan of the house is very accomodating for a large group. The house has had some updates done in the kitchen, bathrooms and flooring that are very nice. It also came fully stocked with the necessities for our stay (i.e. paper towels, TP, dishes, etc.).
I would concur with one of the past reviews, that although the house has been surface cleaned, it could use a deep clean. Additionally, the furniture in the living area needs to be updated and some areas of the decking need repair.
Overall, the location, the floor plan and easy check-in make it a nice place to stay. The next time we need a beach fix this will be on the top of our list.

Excellent access to fun spots in Santa Cruz. Walkable community. Spectacular views. Easy access to grocery stores. Great place to have a large family meal with plenty of dining and deck space. Cleaners could be more thorough in their attention to bathrooms and kitchen areas.

The property has beautiful views of harbor, very spacious, clean, easy to contact the property manager, she is a very nice and kind person, close to Boardwalk, (19 min walk or 5 min on car) in a very good area, perfect for a little family reunion. We really enjoyed it!!

This property has the most incredible view of the Harbor and It’s a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. The kitchen is well stocked, and the beds are comfortable. I have nothing but nice things to say about the whole experience. Thank you!!

I have never stayed in such a dirty property! Food on the doors of the cabinets in the kitchen. Dishes needed to be washed to be used. Dishwasher is probably 30 to 40 years old. Rodent poops in the living room!

I took some family members to this property to celebrate my 35th birthday and it was absolutely beautiful. Centrally located with a ton of great places to walk to. Kirk and Diana were so easy to communicate with and their check-in instructions were easy to follow!
The photos of this home do not compare to seeing this property in person, beautiful view, lots of space (11 in our group), clean and comfy!
We can not wait to plan another trip at “The Harbor House”

The best way to describe our stay at this property is by listing pros and cons. The location was very good, within walking distance to Seabright Beach and local eateries. The deck off the main floor provided good seating and space for enjoying the water view. The good sized great room was bright with ample seating in the dining area and at the kitchen counter. The upstairs bedroom with en-suite bathroom was comfortable and private. The three queen beds in the house were comfortable. The bathrooms were okay. Parking was ample on the garage driveway.
The big disappointment was the strong, damp, musty smell which was very noticeable when we entered the house. It came from the lower level which housed two bedrooms and a sleeping porch. The odor permeated the area where six out of eight people slept and it was not pleasant. The single beds in the sleeping porch were lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. The two lower level bedrooms each had a very small closet which were cluttered with extra pillows and duvets on the floor and shelf, leaving minimal room for clothes. There was mold on the lower level bathroom ceiling. The living room suite needs to be deep cleaned or replaced as the covering was very soiled. A new coffee maker, a tea kettle and decent sized coffee mugs would be good additions in the kitchen. To end on a positive note, the owner was very helpful in promptly returning my call about a garbage issue and sending on an item left behind at the house.

Harbor House
Great house, great location. Had some issues with cleanliness, showers had mold on shower mats and curtains. Informed the owners and they responded right away and said they would take care of the problem.

Great week
We had a great week at this wonderful house. Bright and airy, large but cozy. Enough room for 3 generations ( 4 kids ages 7-12, 2 sets of parents and 2 grandfolks) to spread out and/or be together. Pleasant walk to a perfect beach, close enough to the fun boardwalk, within walking distance to good restaurants.
We just wonder why we had to supply own towels or pay $100 to have them supplied! We have stayed in perhaps 30 rentals in the past 4 years and NEVER have been asked to do that. Otherwise, no complaints.

I have a very high standard of cleanliness and I thought the cobwebs could have been taken care of .
Everyone enjoyed the place coffee pot downstairs didn't work the front door lock was a bit confusing for some folks.

A great place, but there is an upcharge for towels.
This is a great property in a great location. However, after booking the owners contacted me (very promptly) and told me there would be a $10 per person upcharge for towels. For the price of the stay I would have expected there to be towels. It seemed a little nickel and dime to me.
We had a problem with the water quality and the owners got right back to me. I would suggest running the water for at least 20 minutes on arrival. The city water guys told us that the water was stagnant and took on color because it hadn't been run in a while.
The kitchen is well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. The location would easily sleep 9 people. The location is wonderful and it has a great deck.

We had a wonderful time and this property helped with making the weekend amazing. We had 4 adults, (2) 7-year-olds, and (1) 14 year old. There was plenty of space for all of us. The pictures do not do this place justice. It's a very spacious Townhome, with large rooms and bathrooms. Very comfy beds and a very well-stocked kitchen. My only complaint is.... it's time for new knives. The view is breathtaking and its just a few blocks away from the beach. Very well located. We'll be staying here again.

Perfect for family vacation
This was our first time staying at this property. It was perfect for 3 couples, with plenty of room both inside and out. We enjoyed spending time on the deck watching the yachts in the harbor. The pictures of the property don’t do it justice, especially the kitchen which was noted as being “small” in several reviews. We found the space was laid out perfectly and really appreciated having a pantry to store food.
We are hoping to return again.

Great neighborhood, spacious house
This place was perfect for a family get together, lots of space for everyone, great location right near the beach and walking distance to the Boardwalk. The place is a little rough around the edges but perfect for our group.

Great Location!
As the title says, the location is great. It's a short walk to Seabright State Beach ( A better beach than the others nearby.) The neighborhood is upscale. The harbor view is impressive. It's a short drive to the Boardwalk, Municipal Pier, shopping and restaurants.
The house is spacious with enough beds and room for our large family. There was plenty of parking available.
It has everything we look for when searching for a Christmas holiday rental.

Check in was easy. Had all the conveniences. Cleanliness was so, so, there was mold on the master bathrooms bathmat. Ran out of toilet paper.. Had to kill 2 black widows. Easy to follow directions for check out and communication with manager was good. Would definately come back.

Wonderful location
This was a perfect location for a family trip. Beach was 2 blocks away and the boardwalk was .9 miles. Both an easy walk and left the cars parked. Looking out over the harbor was beautiful and we walked twice down to the light house. Easily accommodated 8 adults and 3 kids. There was even a high chair and pak n play available. Yacht club right next door for some added people watching over the weekend

Family Getaway
Our family came to Santa Cruz to get away from the heat and enjoy some time together. This house is perfectly located for every activity we wanted. You're within walking distance to the beach, the Boardwalk, and the marina if you wanted to take a charter out for the day. I highly recommend staying here, our family definitely will in the future.

Great location but cleanliness and safety issues
This home is spacious, is in a great location, and has a wonderful view.
The owners are very easy to work with and respond quickly to questions or issues.
However, there were a few huge issues. The railing on the main deck has deteriorated causing the balusters to fall out. The gaping holes were plenty big enough for a child to fall through, and the drop was more than 15 feet. This was cause for concern since we had three children under the age of 5.
Upon arrival at the house we all removed our shoes at the door. Within a short period of time the bottoms of our feet were black. We found a mop, but it was dirtier than the floor, so we proceeded to scrub all the hard-surface floors on our hands and knees. More scrubbing was needed in the kitchen because the surfaces were grimy
and sticky.
Even though we knew from the pictures and description that the kitchen was small, we were dismayed to find that there was no where to put the food that we brought - the amount was substantial since we weren't planning to dine out during the pandemic. We sought the pantry, only to find it in such disarray that we couldn't use it.
Considering these issues and a few other smaller ones (no key in the lock box, trees being removed eliminating our parking area for a day and a half, having to call a plumber, a TV that didn't work), we had hoped for some type of monetary restitution, but none was offered.

The home was located in a great location. There was enough room for our 8 adults and two kids. However, the home did not provide towels. This was incredibly inconvenient to travel with that many towels as we all were coming from out of state. Also, the hot water in the upstairs sink never worked. Overall, the home met our needs and the location could not have been better.
