the whole place was always very clean, the beds were comfy and there was a chilled out vibe throughout the place. also the kitchen has everything you could need
2.5
The property is amazing and directly next to the beach. The vibe is really chill and it calms you down a lot
Our toilet was leaking when you flushed it.
I was really upset about the one staff who couldnt make it possible to fill up our bottle just after the reception closed (it is only possible to let bottles fill up with drinking water behind the reception) and the next day he kinda scammed us with the taxi. He said it is between 300-350 Cordobas and then called the taxi and said there is a group that wants a taxi for 400. It is not a big deal but that felt like a small scam

The place was right on the beaches like all the other hostels I thought because it’s more expensive than the others it will be better and that’s why I booked it but that was not the case it was lacking atmosphere and social travel vibes. Good part the bed was comfy.
Was not cozy super big restaurant area, didn’t feel like a hostel, didn’t have any vibe or atmosphere they were playing horrible loud music all the time. The most disappointing hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The hostels next door were cheaper and much better than I ended spending all my day at other hostels that has chill vibes hammocks and coziness.

great location staff and chilling area
12 person dorm gets very dirty with the wind
2.5
The location on the beach
AC and fans in the room
The staff was very unwelcoming
The 6-dormitory room was very small and had only one bathroom
Only 2 plugs in the room for 6 persons!!

The staff were so much fun! Kind, friendly, helpful and so funny. Great forms with a nice bathroom. The restaurant/lounge common area by the beach is perfect. Such a relaxing place!

Amazing, amazing staff! Perfect location, great lounge/bar/restaurant area, comfortable dorms with a nice bathroom. The rooms and restaurant were kept very clean!
The kitchen I wouldn’t bother using.
4.0
the 6 bed dorms are really nice with air con and a good en suite bathroom, lots of seating area and hammocks, fairly well equipped kitchen
the kitchen was quite often dirty and some of the communal bathrooms weren’t cleaned everyday
4.0
people respect each other in the dorms and it’s quite at night, so the people who party go somewhere else. the location is pretty good, close to other restaurants and the supermarkt.
the kitchen stove was quite hard to use, but once turned on its fine. when we arrived we didn’t get a tour (show the kitchen, explain about the drinking water, etc).

The owner was an amazing woman, absolutely lovely and really kind. She really looked after me as a female solo traveller, gave me lots of advice getting there when the men at Rivas were rude and trying to con me and even picked me up from the bus stop. Right on the beach, beautiful location 👌

Staff were helpful although when we had issues with getting our refund for the next day, we had to call the owner. She was seriously rude to both me and my partner on the phone, assuming we were from US and telling us “we don’t even want you people in our country”… it was supposed to be free cancellation as stated on booking.com but took us about 3 hours to work it out with the Hostel. Eventually got our money back and went somewhere else
Lots of bites from dorm bed and kitchen was a mess
4.5
Incredible location, you can almost touch the water from the hostel, sounds of waves from the dorms is beautiful to sleep and wake up to. Nice big bar/area to hang out and meet people. Plenty of hammocks. Beds are nice and dorms/bathrooms are clean. Kitchen has most things you’ll need to cook.
A small quiet/hang out area with some couches could be good if you’re not feeling the bar/music/socializing for one night.

Great location, fun, laid back and party vibe.
the kitchen unfortunately was tiny, it was difficult for even 2 people to cook there together, and the hostel can sleep a lot of people, so it was always crowded and really dirty, in my experience. Apart from the bar and restaurant, there was nowhere really to chill and be comfortable.
3.0
The only hostel with good wifi in the area
There is not many places to sit and relax, the place is more like a restaurant.

All day there is loud music that does not suit the atmosphere

Amazing location - literally right on the beach with incredible views of the ocean, especially at sunset. Lovely communal area with great seating and porch/terrace area for guests and customers to sit in. Our room was clean and well equipped with good-sized lockers to keep our valuables in and a private bathroom for the room which was spacious and clean.
Very poorly equipped kitchen and poor atmosphere for a hostel with no activities or information on offer for guests and tourists. Staff were friendly if spoken to, but offered no extra tourist advice when we arrived/checked in. Food at the hostel was very expensive and drinks not much better (except beer) - a happy hour could go a long way!

Great hostel literally on the beach. it’s very surf which is the purpose of the little town. there is a few shops and restaurants close by. comfortable dorm room. the hostel is also a bar so very social too.

nice bed, environmental, all cool

the pool table, next to the beach, hammocks
The staff was the worst ever, they were unhelpful. We needed to change rooms twice, the staff just laughed about it and didn’t say sorry at all, while it was their mistake. While moving we were rushed by the cleaning lady, in the rush my friend forgot to take his little bag with credit card and money in it. The bag was stolen by the cleaning lady, and luckily later found by the police.
Aside from the whole debacle with the stealing, staff was super unfriendly. The owner was not at all focused at hospitality and did not offer us anything after her staff stole from us. Even if our stuff was not stolen, I would not recommend staying here since the staff is unhelpful and unfriendly. I never complain about such things but in this case it really bothered me that they did not care that we did not like our stay. In short, they don’t care if people are comfortable or liking their stay at their place, they mainly care about money. If you want a big hostel next to the beach and don’t care about hospitality, then the place is fine. If you want to be appreciated just even a tiny bit, go somewhere else. The place next door, the melting elephant, is amazing, so google them and go there!

Great place and very lovely owner. Will be back :)

The room was nice, with private bathroom inside. The common area overlooking the beach was very chill. Good they have a kitchen
The fact drinkable water is locked behind the bar so you have to call staff every time to fill it up. The staff isn't too helpful with transport etc. Restaurant too expensive.
