This is an apartment in the middle of old town York and the location couldn't be better. The staff were based out of the restaurant/pub next door and were so helpful and friendly. It's an older building with character with bedroom, living room, and kitchen. Small bath arrangement but functional. It was quiet for such a central location. A very fun and funky place to stay.
Its an old building with lots of character like old wood floors and small bath sinks up a flight of stairs between restaurants, but this is part of what made it a fun place to stay.

Room was extremely noisy at night and could hardly sleep until early morning, but the hotel was very conveniently located

I was pleasantly surprised at this little gem! Felt like home from home. Was super clean, and very comfortable. Excellent facilities- dishwasher, washing machine, they even left us tea coffee, sugar and fresh milk in the fridge! Was absolutely beautifully restored and decorated and would recommend to any one wishing to stay. Will stay again when visiting York. Staff were friendly and helpful also!

The location was excellent and the whole set up was great

Location was fab. Spotlessly clean.
No coffee/tea facilities in room. Room was extremely warm and fan provided was too noisy to use.

Everything it was beautiful, clean just fabulous!

Spacious 1 bedroom apartment and very convenient to most attractions. The staff who greeted us allowed us to check in early and also was very helpful with local recommendations. The bed was very comfortable and the amenities included in the apartment was extensive.
The downsides of being in the city centre is how loud the apartment is at night. The apartment is surrounded by pubs and clubs which meant that we barely slept on Saturday night as party goers are either inside pubs/ clubs or outside on the street partying. Earplugs were provided but they didn't help for light sleepers like us.

Great, convenient location. Private hallway, two private bathrooms, comfortable bed. Common kitchen with tea and coffee.

Property is in a perfect central location, close to all the nearby attractions. Good value for money. Updated decor of the room was very nice. Friendly and welcoming staff.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable, mattresses definitely need replacing. Woke up in a lot of pain each morning due to the springs digging into your body. Did not sleep well. The window sill fell off on the first night as appeared to be fixed on with no more nails. There are only two very tiny bedside tables, we definitely needed another surface to put items on rather than on the floor, such as a small chest of drawers or console table.

Wonderful location

The location is amazing! Right in the middle of the city centre! The apartment was just like being at home with everything you'd want (fridge and washing machine) for a trip.
The noise from the street outside - the downside for being in the city centre. Stayed on a midweek night, still had people shouting at 2am and then the delivery vans and even the bin men started at 6am

Excellent location.
There were no staff. I booked a twin room and got a double. There were only two hangers to hang up clothes. No glasses to drink water from. No tea or coffee facilities in the room.

Central location. Amazing shower and comfortable bed. Water and snacks provided, tea and coffee with fresh milk in the fridge available on the landing. A big fan to keep you cool. A good bright room with big sash windows that open.
With it being in a central location it was noisy at night if you are wanting an early night you will need the ear plugs that were provided. If coming in in early hours this will not bother you. Lots of stairs to get up to the room not great if a little worse for wear!!

Central location, close by to the amenities of York and the shambles…..
Needed a set of drawers in our room for our clothing
We wondered why we needed ear plugs left by the hosts in our room, we found out why with the noise from the beer garden of the bar underneath. Hey ho we can live with that and certainly didn’t spoil our stay. Would I stay again absolutely…..

Beautiful apartment! Full of character. Great location also. I was upgraded from a room to an apartment and it was a lovely surprise! Bed was super comfy. Very clean and cosy would actually like to go back again!
It was a little difficult to find the entrance!
5.0
As described however the private bathroom was separate to the room itself, although this was not an issue
Would be too noisy for some people although disposable earplugs were supplied

Fantastic location, perfect for everything, comfortable bed & great shower. Had the ‘log cabin’ on the top floor & was a really nice room.
We were above quite possibly the loudest bar & night club in York.. The music was pounding till 3am in the morning & the ear plugs were a useless gesture. Clearly being left them in the first place shows they know it’s an issue. A real shame as it’s a nice place but in the wrong place. Wouldn’t stay here again.

fabulous, just noisy, but to be expected if central
no kettle in room

Location was fantastic. Very central. Near the Minster and Jorvik, the two things we wanted to see during the weekend. Warm and comfortable.
Some inconsiderate person took the kettle from the kitchen area on Friday and didn't return it until Sunday morning.
7.0
location and self serving kitchenette
the picture room was very small for a couple, nowhere to put your bags and store things. would not be ideal for a long stay

beautiful apartment, had everything you would need
noise at night from pub but there was ear plugs if needed, didn’t stop us sleeping because we were so tired at the end of the day but may effect others. wouldn’t stop us returning

Location is perfect
Tea/Coffee facilities etc. outside the rooms was inconvenient and unusual

The location was perfect right in the center of the city. The room was lovely and warm comfortable and spotless. The host was very friendly and I would certainly recommend the Fort York.
There was nothing I could fault

the location, everything was provided and comfortable

The location is great. Interior design is really charming.
There's a fire door in the toilet going out into the staircase. There's probably a good reason for it, but it was just unexpected.
10.0
the location was absolutely perfect. the bed was super soft and cozy, I didn’t want to get up at all
if you are not into partying, I’d recommend to bring some ear plugs. it gets quite noisy from the clubs downstairs

smelt bad including the from an couldn’t get in for ages

Great sized room. Good bathroom. Like a funky generous hostel. Loved the trunk that could be used as a luggage rack.
Maybe the sink in the bathroom was a bit on the awkward size/position. It would be a rowdy position during peak summer.

the bed was uncomfortable

Ideal central location that couldn't be faulted. Stylish apartment but sofa very uncomfortable.
Like any central location you do have to put up with drunken noise at last orders and the early van access causing noise.

Everything, location, facilities, ease of check-in, simply outstanding. A home away from home and much more spacious than I imagined. Will definitely be back again. Thank you.
Slight creaky door from bedroom but added to character.

The location was excellent, it is right in the centre of everything.
The room was pretty basic but it did the job and it was still good value for money.
