This was a fab little break from the world , the staff especially Sandra at reception and Mary at breakfast were superb. The food in the restaurant was varied healthy and tasty. We went for a pre breakfast swim and the pool and jacuzzi was a lovely experience, I loved my hotel experience.
The only disappointment which in no way diminished my satisfaction was the thermal suite - the sauna was not working, the steam room wasn’t warm enough for me so I spent my time in the hydra pool - i still enjoyed my thermal suite experience

Spaciosness of the foyer yet cosy and warm. Friendliiness of the staff and their efficiency without being intrusive. Lived the vintage cars in the lobby. A quirky touch. .lots of nooks to sit and relax outside the bedroom. The bedroom was large and very comfortable.

The location was lovely
From the start it there was really bad. We eang ahead and asked for luxury afternoon tea as it was my mothers birthday. She has a gluten intolerance and what we recieved was an absolute joke. It was also handled badly by the staff. It set the tone for the whole trip. The hotel was empty so i really thought the service would have been better.
The food was much better at dinner, however the service was nit good. The waitresses were no attentive at all. They gave us bread while we were waiting and had to ask for butter. Again there was noone in the restaurant.
Very disappointing trip altogether.
The manager on duty however was very nice and did try rectify the situation.

The food was good
We booked 2 roooms and paid in full before arrival. The other couple we were with were recharged the full price, as they hadn't realised I had already paid. When when went down to the receptionist to say this we got an 'ohhh'. We actually had to ask for the refund not be offered with no real apology. We had booked half board which says a 4 course meal, when confirming this at reception I was told that means breakfast only, I was also told booking.com don't offer half board, which they clearly do and I'd evidence of this booking. Id to ring booking.com to sort this. 30 each for the thermal suite, not everything is working in it. Would not recommend this for the price the pay.

Staff in restaurant were very friendly. The breakfast was very good. The spa was nice.
Tried moving our dinner reservation to 7:30, rang and asked to put on cancellation list. When checking in, spoke to a lady in reception and asked again could it be moved from 6 to 7:30. She told me that if she could squeeze me in she could but there was literally no space. 15 mins before our 6pm reservation we got a phone call saying they could move us to 7:30. We arrived at 7:30 and there was more empty tables than full. I have no doubt Mount Wolsey was lovely when it was built in 1994 but after 27 years, upgrades may be needed. There is only so many years you can get out of a carpet.

The thermal suite was wonderful - a very relaxed space.
The food in the bar was very good but long delays.
All staff were warm and welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful.
Overall the communal areas seemed like they needed a bit of TLC and a deep clean.

Room was comfortable. Grounds were very nice.
I had booked two rooms, one had been booked and paid for on Booking.com but when I was presented with the bill on arrival I was charged for the Booking.com room again. I brought this to the attention of reception and received a refund. However when I was checking out I was again billed for a room that I had already paid for on arrival.
We had toasted ham and cheese sandwiches in the Lounge on arrival and the cheese used was like "easi singles" not what I expected from a 4 star hotel. Again the bill was incorrect and had to be reduced when we brought it to the attention of serving staff.
We arrived for breakfast at about 9.45am and when two of us joined the queue for the cooked breakfast there were no sausages available. The chef just said "you're out of luck today." No apology or explanation. Again not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel.
