breakfast... went down just after 9.00 and most of the food had gone, asked for some butter for my toast, young boy went to kitchen to get it but never came back, hot food nearly gone no eggs left.

Plenty of choice.
Lack of tea ,coffee in room.

A rather dates building showing its age, but decently presented inside. It's central location and car park were appreciated and we were very surprised and pleased with the size of our bedroom which had panoramic views across the town to the Isle of Arran. As a Privilege room we had bottled water, slippers and bathrobes.
Breakfast was standard buffet which was adequate.
At breakfast, despite plenty staff, the clearing of tables was spasmodic, especially on the side sections of the restaurant. Similarly, more checks were needed to replenish starter buffet items.

Nothing they cancelled less than 24 hours before our stay. Apparently this is a common occurrence and happened to everyone I knew that was coming to a family wedding. DONT BOOK HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE TO GET MOVED AT THE LAST MINUTE

cancelled our booking the day of arrival and put us in a hotel further away as 2 of our party had mobility problems it was too far to walk into Ayr, booked this hotel as we’ve bn a few times before and like the location and it has a lift, the other hotel had flights of stairs no lift spent hours on the phone to mercure communication was appalling and as we were already in Ayr were basically stranded my friend had to carry his wife up the stairs and had to leave the next morning due to mobility issue we were in Ayr for events which we had bought tickets for and to meet other friends our whole wknd was a waste of time and money… locals say this hotel is famous for letting people down!!

we didn’t get to stay in the Mercure and were shipped out to a hotel that was a mile from the town centre. When you get a phone call while travelling to the Mercure to tell you that this is happening it is too late to make alternative arrangements. The whole point of booking the Mercure was to be in walking distance of bars restaurants etc.
The distance from the town centre and the fact that it certainly isn’t 4 star
