Great room but not worth coming back to.

The check-in and out process was seamless, as the front desk clarified with me clearly the extra VAT charges involved. The room was clean and the staff was attentive enough to quickly come over to resolve the issue I was having with the television. Great view from the room and rooftop bar as well.

The security personnel made me feel as tho only foreigners or white men can afford to stay in such a hotel. During the check-in day, I brought my luggage and was asked if I'm staying at the hotel. I simply answered yes to that. In the evening when I went out and came back. The SAME security staff asked if I'm a guest at the hotel, however the restaurant and the rooftop bar allows public access where you don't have to be a guest for it. I asked the staff why, and he answered only hotel guests are allowed.

- Pool Side music is too loud and guest cannot talk. - No smoking room every time has to go 19th floor to smoke. - should treat all guest equally

exceptional hotel but expensive

On my experience at Renaissance hotel: Everything was exceptional from check-in to check-out (including the reception employees, the Bahar restaurant food and employees, the room cleaning service and the SPA). wherever you go people were smiling and willing to help (which is plus plus)

the prices were to high in the hotel facilities, for example: - starting with the rooms rate- prices were too high compared to their 5 star peers in the same area - the SPA prices were too high, however, for Bonvoy members you can get 20% discount. - ordering soft-drinks in Bahar restaurant will cost you around BDT 850

There is no fire and smoke detector in the room,so be careful or stay with a good personal insurance.

Stay at the Intercontinental instead of this place.

It’s very swanky considering it’s Bangladesh

Firstly I was told by the concierge that had I booked directly, I would have saved £68.00 and would have had breakfast included. I’m not impressed that Booking.com made such a mark up on me. Secondly I paid 140 Tk for two people to dine in the buffet restaurant and was left underwhelmed by the quality of the food. Thirdly the hotel room had mosquito’s which had their fill of my business partner & I. We are riddled with bites and considering how high up we were, I’m confused as to why this is an issue? I would summarise this hotel as having style over substance.

Exceptional

The staff were wonderful, very helpful for all our requests. We really appreciate the good supply of drinking water in our rooms. Great location. Breakfast was delicious, lots of choice and freshly prepared eggs, pancakes and dosa's. Coffee and pizzas were great from the ground floor cafe Gulshan Baking Company. Sear bar is a lovely space serving nice cocktails. We missed the jazz music, but prefer the quiet. Thank you to all the staff who looked after us, especially Munni.

It was a pity it was so noisy at the rooftop pool with all the honking cars from the street below (not the hotel's fault, but it did ruin the atmosphere!) Our meal in the Sear restaurant was only average, expected better. As foreigners we didn't feel comfortable walking outside the hotel in local area. Worth organising escorted shopping trips.

Excellent service and beautiful hotel

I loved my stay at Renaissance. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The room is amazing and the overall ambiance is very modern but warm. When you go for breakfast, the staff are very friendly and and helpful, especially Dheeman, Sanjida, Zubaire, and Pronoy. And, at the reception, I personally would like to thank Ms. Mia for helping me out during our check-in and being so nice whenever we see each other, she is very professional. Everyone looks so pleasing and will go out ifbtheir way just to provide comfort for the guests. I highly recommend this hotel when you cone to Dhaka. Thank you Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel. You were all excellent!

The hotel is located in a very central part of Gulshan, very convenient if you are just moving around that area. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of local and international cuisine. The room was clean and comfortable, but there was no bathtub but the twin room. The highlight was the staff - they were so helpful and attentive, they made the whole stay really enjoyable.

The price was definitely steep for a hotel of this scale and standard. Not saying that the hotel is bad, in fact I believe it's one of the best hotels in the area, but compared to other 5 stars hotels in other countries, the price was insanely high.

Perfect

All the staff were exceptional, rooms were spacious and clean and a decent selection of TV channels. Breakfast and other meals provided a great variety of options all of which were excellent. No negatives for me will stwy here next time I'm in town.
