ACCOMMODATIONS
Filled with natural light, the Main House Cottage has original art throughout plus a comfortably and tastefully furnished open living area with ample seating between the wraparound bamboo section and separate sofa. The adjacent cypress dining table easily seats 6. French doors open onto the screened porch overlooking East Bay, where you can take your morning coffee at the table seating 4, or move over to one of two chairs, the perfect spot to relax and tie a lure.
This Main House Cottage has a separate bedroom with King bed (Peacock Alley linens!), large walk-in closet, and chest, plus 2 twins in a loft setting, easily accommodating up to 3 (4 if couple) guests. The master bathroom area includes a custom cypress vanity with single sink and adjacent area accessed through pocket doors with cast iron claw footed tub and toilet. The 2nd bath has a newly tiled shower, small sink and a toilet, plus full size Maytag washer and dryer. While compact, the kitchen area has top of the line appliances so you can cook your catch easily on the Frigidaire 5 burner gas cook top or in the accompanying Frigidaire electric oven. And keep a week of groceries in the full size refrigerator! Please note that while we have sufficient dishes, cookware & utensils, there is no dishwasher. A Char-Broil propane grill is located under main house.
Internet/WiFi is available at the Main House Cottage only, which also has a large Sony TV and is ROKU accessible, so don’t forget your Netflix, Amazon, or other ROKU channel passwords!
The Guest Cabin with its wrap-around screened porch is located approximately 200 feet away and is crafted of pecky cypress walls and heart pine floors. Sleeping arrangements are 2 Queen beds located in the main living area plus 2 Twin beds above in the ladder accessible loft. The full bath has a double vanity, large tiled shower, and toilet. The fully equipped galley style kitchen area holds an apartment sized electric range, under counter refrigerator unit, microwave, Mr. Coffee machine, and a French press coffee maker.
Fronting East Bay, the Guest Cabin has a huge 17’x27’ screened porch with separate dining table easily seating 6, and several seating areas perfect for tying lures, reading a good book, and enjoying your sunset cocktail. Or choose to wander down the steps to the expansive deck area with its own teak bench, side tables, and Char Broil propane grill, before exploring the pathway to the water. While there is no TV or internet/WiFi available at the Guest Cottage, we have found that Verizon cell service works quite well here. Your carrier will determine your access.
THE PROPERTY
Your own private 200’ dock and fishing pier is there to catch red fish, sea trout, mullet, flounder, and crabs! Or simply settle on the bench to relish the beauty of East Bay at all hours, and look for the abundant wildlife. Bald eagles, pelicans, herons, and ospreys all visit, as does the occasional porpoise! Plus you have 500’ of bay frontage for fishing, frolicking, and kayak launching, and an expansive estuary marsh to the side and rear for both privacy and nature. The sunsets here are spectacular!
The Property itself showcases the best of a lushly natural, “Old Florida” style setting while preserving gorgeous views of East Bay. Oak trees strewn with Spanish moss abound, as do magnolias and camellias. Come in the fall and you could see the breathtaking Monarch butterflies taking their last rest before crossing the Gulf to their winter abode. Choose to explore a bit and you’ll find several pathways carved out among the palmettos and trees that lead you to the waterfront. Sit at the bay side picnic table and listen to the waves coming in, or wander the dock to the very end where you’ll find a bench ready for you to take in the breathtaking views!
Should you choose to venture out, you will find the excellent restaurants and shops of Eastpoint, Saint George Island, and Apalachicola, a charmingly well preserved fishing port, located mere minutes away. And St. George Island State Park, the Apalachicola National Forest, St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, and St. Joe State Park are all nearby with their spectacular beaches and nature preserves.
Bring your fishing poles, boat, or kayaks for this ultimate fisherman’s paradise!
SPECIAL NOTE
While rarely encountered, this naturally landscaped 8-acre property can also play host to Florida wildlife such as bear, fox, raccoons, and other native species. The driveway is long and without lights so we strongly recommend you arrive during daylight hours to fully appreciate this unique setting. Dock usage is at your own risk. If bringing a boat, please contact the manager for boat parking directions; the driveway is long and circular so larger boats/trailers may need to park nearer the entrance. One of Franklin County’s public boat launch/park is only a mile away. Completely new Culligan water system installed 2/2020 eliminates the need for bottled water.
The landscape is still recovering from Hurricane Michael in 2018. There are still some areas, including by the Guest Cottage, where you can see a neighboring home. This owner is working to reestablish the vegetal boundaries with new plantings but it will take some time for the growth to fully separate the properties again. We ask for your understanding and hope you enjoy our special place.
Please contact manager if interested in long-term rental.

The quiet and seclusion of this place is unbeatable. It was our second stay and we loved it as much as we did the first time. Blue Crabs and speckled trout from the dock. Still only five or 10 minutes to Eastpoint or Apalachicola for dinning out on those nights we didn’t use the well equipped kitchen. If you really want to check out for a while this is your place,
5.0
We would definitely stay at this property again! If you truly want to get away, love nature (bugs, snakes, & sealife), and enjoy a rustic cabin, look no further. My husband, two teen children plus 2 teen friends, and I stayed 5 nights. We explored the property (there are a lot of paths), went fishing off the dock, hung out at the small beach, and flew kites off the dock. We did drive over to Saint George and went to the public beach one day and to Saint George Park to the beach located there as well. We also went shopping downtown Apalachicola.
Pros: Lots to explore, the cabins are fully stocked, and very private.
Cons: Master bedroom carpet is stained, enamel on beautiful tub is peeling, 2nd cabin isnt visible from main cabin, ladder in 2nd cabin is very steep, and lots of stingrays in the bay close to the beach on the property.
Overall, we would definitely return and recommend to stay here!!

Our family of 5 had a great time, and will recommend this place to others. The fishing was great and peaceful. The surrounding was very nice, and made for great pictures. My life loved the Spanish moss in the trees! My boys and I enjoyed the easy access to fishing! We all enjoyed sitting on the little bay side beach that is perfectly to yourself. Just sit your chairs down and crack a cold one.
The only negative thing we would have to say is there was quite a bit of mold around and above the shower in the main house. Other than that, not much to complain about. Peaceful. Pretty. Private. It was perfect for our family. And if you did want to head to the ocean, it was a 10-15 minute ride, with easy public parking and access.

What a charming set of bayside cottages nestled in a live oak forest. Twenty-four hour water access was great for the fishers in our group! Everything was well stocked and comfy. We hope to return!

We dd not stay in this house on June 4th through the 8th. This was suppose to be booked for July 4th through July 8th. I don't know what happened, but we never stayed in this house.

I am not one to stay on the bay! I'd much rather be on the beach.... but this place changed my mind! It was literally perfect! Both homes are kinda rustic but cozy, the house was well stocked with items I normally forget, and the house was clean! The dogs had so much room to run outside and we spent most of our days on the dock.... the sunsets were breathtaking!! It's 10 minutes to St George or Apalachicola. If you're looking for peaceful, this is the place! Only downfall- no dishwasher & the well water does have a smell to it. Neither of those things would keep me from going back though. Don't forget your bug spray and a flashlight for dock at night! The owner- he is amazing! I woke up in a panic at home when I realized I forgot a tote full of my belongings there. I called him and he shipped them back to me! Bottom line- if you're looking for a peaceful retreat in the woods w/ a dock that's close to the beach, this is it! 10/10 recommend!!!

We had such a lovely stay! We love the houses, the property, the view...everything. We want to buy it! Also such a quick drive to town or the beach. Two thumbs up from us! Can't wait to go back!

Our third or fourth time to stay at the property. I plan to stay again but the house and guest house are in need of a deep cleaning
5.0
(Please see our longer, more thorough review 12/22 by Jennifer K.) Our second trip was just as enthralling, and we have already booked for next year, which is very rare for us, almost always wanting to try other locations.
But this home and guest cottage is beyond compare, nestled in native trees (palmetto, live oaks, tall magnolias) and overlooking the Apalachicola estuary on the East Bay. There is a fabulous long dock with a bench, perfect for sunset watching (rare to see a dud).
The homes are unique too, both designed to help enjoy the outdoors. The main one has a terrific kitchen with all that is needed to cook up anything (and we did). The mattresses are excellent, and in addition to showers in each, the main house has a wonderful old long and deep tub looking out over the forest. There are two very large couches in the great room, also with its dining area for 6. Books, photos, paintings (some by the one of the former owners). Not standardized beach condo style.
Profoundly peaceful, truly beautiful large property with paths and sitting spots throughout. This cannot be beat if unique location matters.

The property itself is spectacular. Such delightful privacy, beautiful sunsets, intriguing house and cottage. I loved so much about it. It would
Benefit from a thorough cleaning. The carpets
And sofa were stained, we had to wash the green algae off to the windows in order to see the lovely landscape. Despite that, I fell in love with the place. Thank you for allowed me to stay there two weeks

Lovely natural setting with beautiful views of water and sunsets. Enjoyed walking the property. Loved old Florida style of cottages. Highly recommend.

Overall, very good. Third year we have stayed here. Only issue we had is request by owner to keep AC at 72 or above due to AC potentially freezing up. We did, but AC freezing up may be due to lack of maintenance. Filters in both cabins were horribly dirty / clogged. AC struggles to cool because of the dirty filters.

Amazing property, loved every minute we were there. We will definitely stay at this property again.

Beautiful houses and surroundings. Will book again. If you want to destress this is the place. Close to St George and Apalachicola best place I've ever stayed in 23 years .

This was an amazing place to stay while on our hunting trip. Both, the house and guest house, were very clean, comfortable and just homey feeling. The view from the dock was unbelievable. Feels like you’re miles from everything but are close to East Point and great seafood. Will definitely be back.
4.0
The setting of this property is really outstanding. The sunsets are gorgeous, and the property is in a great location. Both of the houses are very cute and comfortable. We would give it an A rating, but both of the houses needed "cleaning'". Deep cleaning! They had hit the high spots, as they say, and we are not cleaning freaks ourselves (and we own a cottage that is on VRBO) but attention or a change of cleaning service would be a smart move. We would definitely go back to this property,
5.0
From the photos, i had high hopes for this VRBO, but our stay was FAR better than even my hopes, as my husband and guests all agreed. The forest of pines and Spanish moss festooned Live Oaks, on the Apalachicola wide estuary, are beautiful beyond my capacity to describe. We never missed several leisurely strolls on the trails through these magnificent 8 acres, finding surprises, such as an unexpected turquoise glass float hanging in a tree.
But that was not the best even. The best was listening to the calm ripples of the estuary, feeling the breeze, watching the sunset from the end of the wonderful dock’s bench, listening to the Great Horned Owl and Loons long after dark,
and so much more of Nature surrounding us.
We felt the same passion for the two stunning homes. Each had so much individual character, with evidence of love and prior occupation in a way that makes them special and fully outfitted as well as very, very comfortable, The mattresses were good, if you wonder, and the kitchens superbly outfitted, especially in the main house of course. But they were cozy too, something not always true of rentals. We settled in and rarely left, not wanting to. My husband loved all of the books and art.
One can feel here an older Florida worlds apart from rows of condos on most coasts, still so naturally beautiful, so much of a sense of Place, no anonymity. There is easy access to both charming Apalachicola and beach-side St. George’s Island, with their restaurants, beaches, state park, and shops, but for us, we were in Paradise, and dinners from less than 10 minutes away Lynn’s Oyster Bar with its fabulous seafood was just right.

Family vacation
Second time staying at this property. The cabins are beautiful with a one-of-a-kind view. Reminds me of childhood beach trips. The cabins, however could be cleaner (most of all the cookware in kitchen). A lovely stay overall.

Loved the dock and the privacy of the property.
Would stay here again

Delightful taste of "Old Florida"
The property is amazingly filled with live oaks, Spanish moss, and palms. The location is fabulous: we went to St. George Island for beaches and biking, as well as Apalachicola for shopping, beer, and shrimp. We also took short drives to Carrabelle, as well as Port St. Joe just to explore the area. If you love Oysters you will be in the right place for sure. But the true gem of our stay is the property. The term "Old Florida" is accurate- the buildings are from the late 90's but there is a relaxed and lazy slow southern comfort appeal... which also means the furniture is comfortable and you'll have what you need but if you are looking for a high-end feel and modern this is not that. If you are looking for beauty, nature, and a southern country feel you will be enchanted. If you are into sitting on the dock for wine and a perfect sunset at night as well as coffee on the dock, breathing in the fresh air, and watching the pelican flights in the morning , then this is the place for you. Our big "kids' loved staying in the guest house and playing in the water. We gathered for family meals in the main house but relaxed on their screened in porch- no one went without something they truly loved. We look forward to returning soon!

Authentic Florida paradise
This is an amazing property on the water—we saw multiple dolphins from the dock; the house and cottage are both spectacular.

Old school Florida charm
If your looking for a great getaway for adults this is it. We celebrated a family member’s 40th birthday here and it couldn’t have more perfect! The house just screams old Florida with all the beautiful furnishings and art. The views were spectacular. There is a main house with a private king room and en-suite bath with a claw tub (but no stopper, so that was a bummer) and an open sleeping loft over the living room that has a nice stairway to get up.
The second house is a short walk away with two queen beds right next to each other, and an open loft, so you better get along with whoever is next to you! We were a party of 8 so two of us took the open loft instead. This loft has a very steep ladder type access, so keep that in mind when booking.
I cannot say enough about how charming this whole complex is! Loved it!
From the moss hanging from every tree to the spectacular sunset.
I would not bring children here as there at too many nice things waiting to be picked up an examined plus no swimming beach just a long very high dock to walk on.
Fabulous place!

Great Change of Pace
Highly recommend this property. Everything was as described. Will be back in the next month or so. The only recommendation I have is that the carpets are cleaned. There are clearly some areas for peoples spilt liquids and did not clean up. Wonderful experience.

Florida Nostalgia
Property is so nostalgic of Florida wooded palms and water. You feel like you are in a campy clubhouse feel from days gone by. So quiet, relaxing and away from hustle and bustle of everyday. The owners answered when called. The only one thing if its a thing was the driveway is super tight to turn around and maneuver with a large truck. Other than that this property is all 5 stars awesome. We will book again for sure and bring more people. Thanks to the owners for sharing.

Wonderful Old Florida Cottage
My husband and I and another couple recently rented this place and were not disappointed. We've previously rented on SGI and although this property is nothing like you'd find on the island, there is nothing that compares to it. A clean, airy, cottage with a gorgeous guest house and beautiful grounds, this is one property that we will rent again. The houses are well stocked, the screened porches are large and relaxing and the dock is sturdy and well built. The only issue we ran into was the driveway is long and skinny and makes boat trailer parking tricky, but not a deal breaker.

Florida Gem
Our family was visiting Florida for the first time and wanted a house with privacy that was near the Gulf. We found this house which turned out to be a true gem! The property is large, private and beautiful- full of trees, Spanish moss, flowers, and wildlife. Both houses are lovely and spacious inside with everything needed for a comfortable stay including large well furnished screened in porches. The dock was a favorite for us, and we all spent time there relaxing, fishing, and watching the amazing sunsets. St. George Island is nearby with uncrowded white sand beaches and the nearby towns have nice shops and restaurants. We had one maintenance problem, but the property managers addressed it politely and promptly, making sure it did not impact our vacation. Florida is amazing, and we would love to return and would definitely stay at this house again.

Carved out of wilderness. Rich in history. Truly an Old Florida experience. Great for family fun. Can't wait to find an excuse to visit again.

Beach vacation
We had a lovely time. The property is secluded but also had easy access to fishing, paddle boarding and the ocean. We did have to contact the property manager to gain access to the cottage but he was very helpful and responded quickly.

Tucked away gem
This property is great, tucked away perfectly on a large lot it felt secluded and private but close to areas we wanted to get to. It has a great dock on the water and was comfortable with enough modern amenities to strike the balance of relaxing camp with comfort. Great stay and would return.
