About this house rental
Oldbury Barn is a typical Cotswold stone barn from the outside. However, that slightly modest exterior conceals an interior that's stylish, comfortable, and spacious. A large, gated driveway leads up to the front door, providing plenty of space for several cars. The Barn sits high above the Cotswolds and has footpaths leading directly from the garden to the surrounding Cotswolds.
This stunning holiday home has a large garden divided into two areas: a long, side lawn with a gate to a public footpath and a low stone wall between it and a large patio and lawn with a children's swing set. This is a great entertaining space where older guests can dine at the table or relax on the outdoor sofas while watching younger guests play.
Oldbury Barn is the perfect choice for a family get-together, offering a great space to relax, entertain and rest. Downstairs, the large open plan kitchen and living area with woodburner overlooks the surrounding countryside and the terrace, making the most of the stunning countryside views. Guests with restricted mobility will appreciate the ground floor en-suite bedrooms, while upstairs the double room and family room provide plenty of beds to comfortably accommodate a mix of guests.
Ground Floor
Entrance Hall-Cloakroom:
Guests enter the Oldbury Barn through the front door into a handy hallway with plenty of space to hang coats and store boots and shoes. A large cupboard houses cleaning equipment and a highchair. Continue along the hallway to the cloakroom where there is a WC and washbasin.
Kitchen/Dining/Living Room:
The centrepiece of the home is the stunning, open-plan kitchen-dining-living area, which runs the full length of the barn and features a polished Cotswold stone floor (with underfloor heating), fabulous exposed beams, a 5-pane arched window with window seat, a huge woodburner, and uninterrupted views to the garden and countryside beyond. Up above the open-plan area is an impressive mezzanine balcony tucked into the original beams and running the full length of the Barn.
The Kitchen:
The fully equipped kitchen features a large island with plenty of preparation space, a breakfast bar, drinks fridge, freezer and storage, complemented by extensive kitchen units housing a fridge, Rangemaster 6-burner hob, double oven and grill, dishwasher and plenty of crockery, utensils, glassware and bakeware for a fully self-catered stay. French doors lead directly from the kitchen to the patio making it super-easy to carry food and drinks outside for al fresco entertaining.
The Dining Area:
Sitting at the centre of the open-plan area is a contemporary oak table that expands to seat up to 12 guests. The table is positioned beside the superb central arched window, giving diners a great view out to the garden. On the other side of the dining table is a long sideboard with a Sonos speaker and lots of family games.
The Living Area:
At the far end of the open-plan area is the place to relax and chill out on two three-seater, velvet sofas or an armchair perfectly positioned to enjoy the large woodburner in the inglenook fireplace or simply curl up with a good book. Oldbury Barn does not have a TV, but it has excellent WiFi allowing guests to stream their own choice of shows. (The property has a TV licence, so iPlayer, etc can also be used on guests' own devices.)
Bedroom One:
This beautiful, spacious, apple-green en-suite bedroom is striking, yet cool and calming. Two large arched French windows (with thick blackout curtains) overlook the front of the Barn and the side garden. The bedroom is furnished with a king-size double bed with bedside tables and reading lights, a dressing table with a mirror, an armchair, and a large corner wardrobe with hanging space and shelves.
En-suite: the bright and light bathroom features a full-size bath, with central taps and hand shower, a washbasin in a hand-built vanity unit with a mirror, a WC, and a heated towel rail.
Bedroom Two:
The dark grey-blue walls of this en-suite bedroom add great drama to this inviting bedroom, with its arched French window (with thick blackout curtains) opening out to the front of the Barn. The bedroom is furnished with a king-size double bed with bedside tables and reading lights, a chest of drawers with tri-mirror, a shoe rack, and hooks on the back of the door to hang clothes.
En-suite: the ceiling of the en-suite sweeps to the full height of the Barn making this a stunning shower room with a large walk-in shower, washbasin with vanity unit, mirror and shaver point, a WC, and a heated towel rail.
First Floor
Bedroom Three:
This family bedroom sleeps 2-4 guests in two standard double beds. Each bed has a bedside table and lamp and the room has a small armchair and hooks for hanging clothes. The bright and inviting room has two floor-level windows and a Velux window (all with blinds). (Note: this room is in the eaves and so has a slight height restriction on either side of the bed. The Gigaclear router is in this room.)
Bedroom Four:
At the opposite end of the Barn to Bedroom 3 is a second double room with a standard double bed with over-bed reading lights. A single camp bed is also available on request, making it ideal for a couple with a small child or three children. The room is furnished with children in mind, with a play mat, floor cushion, and toy storage box serving as a chest of drawers. However, adult guests will also enjoy this room and the great view from the double bed through the floor-level window out across the surrounding countryside. (When set up, the camp bed has a bedside table and lamp and a chair for clothes.) Hooks on the back of the door provide a hanging place for clothes. The two floor-level windows and Velux (all with blinds) make this another sunny and bright bedroom. (Note: this room is in the eaves and so has a slight height restriction at either end.)
Family Bathroom:
Located between Bedroom 3 and the Utility Room, the spacious Family Bathroom has a full-size bath with a shower over the bath, a washbasin with a hand-built vanity unit and mirror, with lots of storage space, and a WC.
Utility Room:
The Barn has a super-handy upstairs Utility Room, with an Indesit washing machine and Zanussi dryer, iron/ironing board with plenty of space to do the ironing, a fan, a clothes airer, and the Barn's heating control panel.
Outside
When the weather is fine, Oldbury Barn's outdoor space really swings into its own with its long lawn to the side of the barn (approx. 10m x 28m and ideal for ball games) and the large lawn (approx. 12m x 12m) and terrace to the rear, directly outside the kitchen-dining area. The terrace is furnished with an outdoor sofa, parasol, and dining table and chairs for 10, plus a Landmann charcoal BBQ. Young children have a slide/swing set to enjoy. To the front of the barn is a large gravelled, circular drive with parking for at least six cars. The drive has a double gate that can be secured to ensure children are safe inside. Oldbury Barn is located on one of the highest points in the Cotswolds with far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside from every part of the garden.

An excellent place for a family get together - a stylish barn conversion with lots of space indoors and out.
We've been there as a family three times now and loved it every time.
Also handy that the access is flat and there are two downstairs bedrooms with ensuites and no steps.

Oldbury Barn is a beautiful home in an exceptional setting. Customer service was excellent and the pre-stay information the best I’ve ever seen.
Having two fridges was very good and the freezer was a decent size. Provision of crockery and cutlery was great, the travel cot, stair gate and high chair was appreciated, but there weren’t sufficient wine glasses for the number of guests staying and the dining table a squeeze for eight adults and two toddlers. Frying pans could do with replacement and a selection of serving dishes would be appreciated.
A larger dishwasher or two dishwashers, as now often seen in larger properties would be beneficial and the facilities for waste collection/recycling could be improved.
Bedrooms and bathrooms were a good size and comfortable. The seating area was very good and the garden a wonderful facility.
Overall, a very good property which could be made excellent by a small amount of upgrading.

The property is open plan which means for large families it’s great, you feel together yet not too on top of each other. The Green Dragon pub/restaurant is only 4 mins away and is a must for lunch or dinner. Property was clean, lots of parking space and very welcoming. We would book this property again.

Comfortable accommodation. Not enough rubbish bins for the size of the property. Barbecue clapped out!
Beautiful views.

We had some problems when we first arrived as we had no gas (so no hob, heating or hot water) but text the housekeeper who had it sorted within a couple of hours. It is a beautiful property with an absolutely stunning view . A minor critique would be that the cooking oil was empty and we couldnt find shampoo/shower gel/ hairdryer/sandpit but maybe we werent looking in the right place. But nothigmeally an issue.

Wonderful remote location with great views down the valley. The barn has been converted to the highest standards and the big open plan downstairs was just right for our family group of 8

Amazing location for a family celebration
A lovely barn in a stunning location with amazing views . Great for our family Ruby wedding anniversary which ranged from a 1 year old to a 75 year old .
Great space downstairs with good facilities .
Enjoyed the enclosed garden and seating area where the children could run around safely ; the toddlers enjoyed the trampoline and slides .
The garden and the sandpit could have done with being more weed free though .
Bedrooms downstairs were beautiful ; a big hot upstairs .
Overall an enjoyable stay .

Beautiful Cotswold Barn
My family and I had a wonderful time at Oldbury Barn - it was the perfect location for us. It’s out of the way but there’s a pub 5 mins down the road by car (Green Dragon) and the rolling countryside is literally on the doorstep!
The Barn itself has been beautifully restored. The living space is open and large.
The two downstairs bedrooms are a great size, with smaller rooms upstairs in the eves.
There is a laundry room upstairs too which is really useful!
We had a great time and will definitely consider staying again .

Weekend away with friends
We stayed in Oldbury Barn as a group of 30 somethings and had a magical time. The Barn is set in beautiful countryside and feels like a proper escape. Inside it is very well equipped and has a huge a comfortable open plan living space for socialising. The only very small critiques were 1) the post-code takes you to a property a very short distance away and the barn sign is not clear/lit up which was tricky when arriving after dark 2) it was very warm inside and we couldn't find the thermostat! But overall, a really great stay and would thoroughly recommend. Thank you!

Could be a lot cleaner
House in stunning location but in the middle of nowhere. Housekeeping let it down for us, attention to detail lacking in the cleaning.

Oldbury Barn Elkstone
Lovely old barn conversion-really loved the Cotswold country decor and furniture.
Great views over the rolling Cotswold hills. Clean and airy with a large drive for as many cars as you like. Great log fire.
Had everything we needed and most of the basic bits, except loo rolls and toiletries such as shower gels seemed to be missing.
Paths around the house were wet and slippery too which could be dangerous.
Drive very boggy around front gate so had to get feet wet to walk out.
