Gratis Onsen.
Schlecht isolierte Zimmer ohne dicke Decken. Als die Heizung eingeschaltet wurde, wurde die Luft noch modriger.

Everything was perfect - staff, location (ideal for hiking, not far from the bus station), nice outdoor onsen, delicious breakfast and dinner (sukiyaki highly recommended).

The surroundings are beautiful, you can see jungle and mountains from the window. Even deers came to the periphery of the resort. Onsen is really nice.

The breakfast was great. It's a lovely place to stay. Unexpected big room provided with all the essential stuff. The staff is helpful and try his best to communicate with his translator. Things are well provided and I had a nice stay here under a stormy weather. I wish I can come back and enjoy the sunshine again.

1. beautiful location
2. Big and spacious rooms
3. Very supportive staffs, since this facilities doesn’t have kitchen amenities inside rooms, staff has helped is to rent out enough utensils in very nominal price. I really liked it.
4. Private Onsen can be booked for whole family for an hour
5. peaceful outdoor onsen facility
1. This House doesn’t provide inroom kitchen utensils to cook. If they can provide it, it would be very great.

the hotel is like a little villa/apartment. in a quiet scenic location. you will need a car to reach the place. there are 4 of us & we had 2 apartments. could have just taken one apartment. it would be a great place for a BBQ camping place.
no restaurant nearby.

Although more expensive than a business hotel, the room is literally a full apartment, probably comparable to a large (by Japan standards), open-concept 1LDK. It was extremely comfortable, the Japanese-style breakfast buffet was excellent (I did not try the dinner though), and the family bath and outdoor bath facilities were both high quality. So this place is truly a steal. Would love to go more often if it were a bit more accessible.
It can't be helped for the area it's in (i.e. deep in the mountains), but it's pretty much impossible to get to without a car (the only thing stopping me from giving a perfect 10), and even with a car it's fairly out of the way. But it's reasonably close to Kurokawa Onsen and Yufuin, so it works well for those who want to sightsee in those places.
