About this farm stay rental
Enjoy the country and stay with us on our farm. We are located within easy access to Camden and Damariscotta. Birchfield Farm is a 70 acre farm, set back from the road on a long gravel driveway. Children are especially welcome. This rental has 2 bedrooms , 2 full baths, and a living room area. The entire unit is rented whether one bedroom is used or two. You will have a refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker. There is no kitchen with the rental rooms. The rental has a private porch facing the garden, away from the barn, and a deck. It consists of a living room with cable TV and internet. There are two bathrooms, all completely remodeled. This old house does not have an upstairs bathroom, and the previous owners put two bathrooms in the addition years ago. Double beds in each bedroom because a queen did not fit up the stairwell. The pet fee is $10 per night per dog.
We have a small dog, a Lhasa Apso, our timid farm dog. Our farm has horses, sheep, chickens and minilop rabbits and a mini jersey steer. We raise our sheep for fleece and lambs. We have two horses, and 8 Finn sheep. There are large fields and walking paths. The farm has 4 barns, and a garden. The long driveway opens up to the farm away from the traffic on the main road.

Our group of 2 adults and 1 toddler had a wonderful overnight stay at Birchfield Farm and plan to return. Communication, directions, description all accurate, hosts are very pleasant and accommodating. The place is roomy, very clean, comfortable beds, and a binder with information about the area. My daughter even enjoyed riding their horse while my grandson loved seeing all the animals. Truly a very enjoyable stay for all of us, thank you Denise and Bruce.

Very clean, very quiet, very comfortable, relaxing stay. Denise was traveling, but Bruce was a font of knowledge about the farm and the area. Certainly recommend to anyone in the area.

Nice little getaway! We enjoyed our one night stay here on our road trip through Maine. Denise and her husband were very friendly and I highly recommend staying here if you need a place to stay!

This stay was such a wonderful experience for our family! Beautiful house, farm, animals, and the kindest hosts you’ll ever meet! Comfy beds and 2 spacious bathrooms. A mix of farmhouse and modern additions was perfect. My teens fell in love with the horses, cow, sheep, and bunnies and were very happy to help with the horses in brushing their hair and even taking the small horse Charlie for a ride with a cart. Such a memorable stay. Fresh watermelon on the porch and a coffee bar for the morning was a welcome treat. Anyone would be lucky to add this as a stop on their itinerary. We stayed here a night between Portland and Bar Harbor after the fun Rockland Maine Lobster Festival and would have gladly added another. Moodys in town was great for dinner!

We loved staying here for a few nights on our roadtrip along the Maine coast! The owners were so friendly and even showed us around their farm so we could meet all the animals. The room we stayed in also had the MOST comfortable bed and we loved the cleanliness of the bathroom(s). We would gladly stay here again should we ever return to the area!

The couple who hosted were very kind and gave us a wonderful tour of their barns with lots of farm animals to pet and give treats to. It was one of the many highlights of my trip.
This area of Maine was very hot for this time of year (July 15). The living areas and bathrooms didn't have AC but thank goodness the bedrooms did and worked nicely.

My husband and I had a very enjoyable stay. Denise was wonderful with communication and questions prior to our arrival, and they were welcoming when we arrived. The place was clean and had plenty of room - 2 bedrooms upstairs, sitting room and 2 bathrooms downstairs. Our dog enjoyed meeting the farm animals and walking around the property. We would definitely come back and hopefully bring our boys the next time.

Stayed a couple nights to visit the botanical gardens and beach nearby. The kids loved it and requested we stay there for every trip to Maine. They got to see the animals each morning and evening, they both even got a chance to ride. Very clean and comfortable little place, and recommended to family when we returned.

Pleasant, quiet farmhouse in a beautiful area. Great if you're not needing a kitchen and enjoy something more unique and charming. The host is great, there are horses and sheep. Beds are super comfortable and bathrooms recently renovated and nice. Would definitely go again.

The pictures do not do this property justice! It was a great place to stay for the weekend and the farm animals are eager to meet you as well. When I am back in the area this is on the top of our choice to return.

My wife, daughter, and I very much enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The hosts, Denise and Bruce, and their farm animals were very social. It is close enough to several small towns to get things you need, but far enough to get away from everything. Thank you for the great stay!

Good country location to do some sight seeing and puffin cruises that are about 35 minutes away(in May). The host was very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations that we really enjoyed.(The Narrows and Moody’s Diner) This is a mini working farm for animal lovers. The bedrooms are upstairs and both bathrooms are downstairs, which may not be ideal, but worked for us. They provided water and coffee and mugs in the main living area to get your day started. There is mini fridge upstairs on the landing between the two bedrooms. So, overall this place has an old comfortable farmhouse feel where you can enjoy nature.

We spent several nights at the Birchfield farm VRBO. It was a nice experience meeting all of the farm animals and our hosts Denise and Bruce. The location in mid-coast is a great jumping off point to visit all of the towns and attractions the area has to offer.

We enjoyed staying here for 2 nights in late March. The property is somewhat close to Darmascota, Maine down a little dirt road. The owners gave excellent directions or we would have gotten lost when we arrived after dark. They let our 16 year old son feed the sheep and bunnies and the highlight for him was holding and bottle feeding a 3 week old lamb. The property itself does not have a kitchen, just a shelf with paper plates, bowls and a little mini fridge. It was cold out when we arrived but the beds are comfortable and lots of warm blankets kept us warm. There are 2 nice bathrooms downstairs. The two spacious bedrooms are upstairs. Lots of stairs, not for someone having trouble with stairs. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We even watched a movie one night. The owners were very friendly, greeting us when we arrived and when we departed. Our son got to help with the morning feeding of animals before we left. Nice unique place to stay, especially for children and people that like farms. You can tell the owners like what they do.The only downside is it is attached to their home. We felt like they may have heard the TV so we were trying to be quiet. We'd stay there again if we're in the area. They were helpful telling us where to eat. Just keep in mind there's no kitchen. We just had cereal and milk eaten out of paper bowls and plastic spoons.

I truly loved my stay here in this very sweet and serene country farmstead. The accommodations were very comfortable. I loved the views of the surrounding woods and fields as well as the warmth and coziness of the guest quarters on what was a very cold night in Maine. The smell of wood smoke and the starlit sky above made me feel that “ all was right with the world”.

Visiting family for Thanjsgiving. Excellent communication with host. Host came out to help with oarking despite heavy rain and darkness.

A cute little farm for families or individuals. Very peaceful and quiet. There's an apple picking orchard a few minutes away and a couple locals selling homemade fresh cheese. My kids had a great time on Denise's farm. They got to feed the sheep and the horse and also got a horse ride! Denise was very informative about the area and also about the animals that she has. She was very patient with my boys as they have high energy. And my oldest loved the horse and the peaceful property as well. We traveled to Maine all the way from Alaska and if we ever make it back to Maine which I hope we do someday. I would definitely stay on their property again!

Accommodations were on the back side of the farm owners house, but private - separate entrance and well separated from owners side. Two nice bedrooms upstairs with comfortable beds, two bathrooms downstairs with a living room. Even two small porches. Small farm (but large property) with horses, sheep, rabbits and chickens. Hosts were very friendly. Didn't have enough time for horseback ride, but saw all the animals. About 5 minutes drive into town - a few good lunch/dinner options. Close mid-coast towns.

Absolutely marvelous working farm with Finn sheep and chickens and the biggest apple tree we’ve ever seen. Accommodations were charming and very private in this antique home - we loved the wallpapered bedroom (with the same bed my parents used to have) and wonderful bedding. Having two nicely updated bathrooms was very convenient even for two of us, the thoughtful coffee set up was perfect, and we loved the porches. Our hostess Denise and her husband Bruce could not have been nicer, they were very responsive when we had a very minor issue. We were delighted by the opportunity to see the barns and interact with the resident sheep - I’m a spinner and bought some of Fred’s beautiful fleece and Denise gave us a bag of apples to bring home - I’m painting them right now (I’m an oil painter), and they’ll soon be in a pie. Speaking of pie - Moody’s Diner is a short drive away - blueberry pie a la mode for breakfast is heaven. We can’t recommend this enough.

Although it was only a one night stay we enjoyed the well thought out accommodations and morning visit with the farm animals. Denise and Bruce share their joy for the property and it’s animals. We bought the resident chickens’ eggs and they were delicious.
