Two en suite double rooms. Location and area were great
Bathroom required bath mat and new roller blind. Cleaning needs to be more thorough as we did see some cobwebs on light fittings

Excellent cottage for weekend to "get away".
Close to Jorvik Centre.
Place is warm, comfortable, kitchen fully equipped.
If you are planning to cook anything - bring your own spices!
Somebody please sharpen knives! :)

Good location as we were there for York racing. Found a lovely cafe in Bishopthorpe for breakfast and enjoyed a couple of evening meals in a local pub

Both the exterior and interior were gorgeous and elegant. Every bedroom had its own bathroom plus one extra downstairs, super convenient. We wholly recommend them!

the instructions were on point, the setting was amazing and the property was excellently presented.
there didn’t appear to be any oven glove, there were only 3 champagne flutes for 4 people and there was no means of propping the upstairs windows open further than a crack.

location, great kitchen and and facilities
toilet was flushing continuously for the entire stay - sofa bed was very uncomfortable as a sofa and mould in 1 of the bathrooms. a shame as it was in a beautiful location and really appreciated the EV charger

It was part of a wonderful set of buildings, cottage itself was great, clean and tidy. Beds are very comfy. Nice quiet area. Town centre was less than 10 min drive away .
Can't really think of any criticisms

Accommodation was amazing, finished to a high standard and fitted with everything you could possibly want, extremely comfortable, location was lovely.
Toilet overflow dripping in shower room but couldn’t hear it if you shut the door, otherwise perfect

Great location for easy access to countryside or city of York. Peaceful , secure and very well presented. All facilities needed for a relaxing break away from home. Host had left a welcome pack which was a lovely touch and a useful information booklet with recommended pubs, restaurants, walks, and historic reference to the building. It also contained emergency numbers/contacts if required. And instructions manuals for equipment: microwave, oven, washing machine, dishwasher and central heating again if required. Although we did not meet the hosts they have impressed us with the presentation of their property.
Things that are beyond the hosts control: the noise of the other guests slamming doors and car doors. No regard for how they park as they took up two parking spaces with one car.
When we arrived we found that the washing up bowl was broken and a plate chipped by previous guests. Other than that the place was excellent.

A really lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable and in a great location for exploring the area around York. We used it as a base to return to at the end of the day after trips to York, Whitby, Leeds armouries, Forbidden Corner and Castle Howard. It was great a place to relax in during the evening and had everything we needed. It was easy to get to places and there are some lovely pubs in Bishopsthorpe close by if you don't want to cook. It is small but was perfect for our family of three (2 adults and one teen). It has everything you need in the cottage however there isn't much cupboard space for food but as we were out every day we just had lunches out and bought a shop from the nearby Waitrose for easy breakfasts and dinners. (If you are going to Whitby for the first time I can recommend Hadley's for fish n chips - we all loved them!)
It would have been lovely to have some garden space however the shared space is directly behind other cottages and so we didn't feel comfortable using it and it wasn't clear if you could use the front lawn or at least to what extent. It didn't have an impact on us however if you like to have a morning coffee outside or space for kids to run round then just something to consider as you may be better off booking one of the other cottages 5 or 6).
If you want to visit Whitby Abbey and other places (Castle Howard etc) do look at getting yourself English Heritage membership as it's worth it and you can use it for the year to get in free or at a discounted price. We also used the park and rides at Leeds and Whitby and both were great and quick.
The cottage was very cosy and warm and the beds and showers were good. The WiFi is not great though so if you want to watch anything on catch up using the Sky box it does take a long time to download, we had books and games we brought with us so it wasn't a major issue but might be best to have things downloaded on a tablet before you arrive.
