Hip, but uneven. Staff is great. Lobby lovely. Restaurant is a gem and well-priced for LA. Rooms are below par. There are only a ladder and wall hooks for hanging clothes; no closet or wardrobe. No dresser or even luggage rack for suitcase. Clearly, the hotel is designed for short-term stays only. Had a balcony with plants that hadn’t been weeded in ages, an indication of general lack of care. No recycling in room. Noisy. Horrible, oppressive, dark green rooms and hallways.

I stayed in a room on the 1st floor. The rooms feel very used. Bathroom had broken towel hooks. No accessible place to plug things in (phone/watch charger). Old college door style fridge propped up on a box, seemed strange and dingy for the price I paid.

This hotel looks and feels, and I think was, a former youth hostel. The rooms a beyond outdated and funky (in a bad way). Fortunately staff was great making the experience a little less awful.

Loved my first visit to any of the Pali chain.
Tim on reception made sure I was looked after and didn’t a incredible job.
Was surprised that there were no tea and coffee making facilities in rooms at an establishment of this calibre. Seems a major oversight nor the option of room service.

Always a great stay

The staff were terrific, the decor was cool, the shower pressure great but the walls are paper thin so much so we could hear the conversations of our neighbors. Not the best hotel for a peaceful stay - which is unfortunate as it was adorable.

No AC control in AC. Room was not what I expected.

Very Friendly staff, room was clean and comfortable. Place had some charm with the reno and was at a decent rate. The AC was a bit freezing, the bathtub was slow to drain and the walls were thin. But for the price and location it was an overall nice experience.

Didn’t like that we had to walk outside to the car in the car parking area. Shouldn’t be weird. They need door.

Evan is always the best at this hotel. Love the location and the rooms.

Super cute hotel, my partner and I enjoyed our stay. With temperatures high in Los Angeles, our room was very cold and felt great. Love the diptyque toiletries, and mini bar was reasonably priced. Restaurant attached was fantastic. Bed was a little uncomfortable but not enough to prevent us from staying again.

Super interesting interior, great staff, tasty restaurant.

The room looked directly out into a common area through the only window that provided light in the zoom. The walls were paper thin, I could hear the full conversation from the room next to me, and there was no laundry as advertised. I wouldn’t stay here again for the price point.

It was alright. A little underwhelming. The rooms seemed bigger and newer in the pictures. The furniture was a little old and the television didn’t work.

For a Pali brand hotel, this was oddly run down. with AC issues, a bit of an odd smell, and a cleanliness standard far below the other Pali hotels I have stayed at. The silver lining here was the service. Tim, at the front desk, upgraded and switched my room when my AC stopped working for an evening and my room got to 79 degrees. The rooms did not feel very clean, and the toilets and showers were outdated. Additionally, the color of the walls made each room feel smaller and less clean. I think this could be a really charming Pali location if the AC, toilets, showers, room design and cleanliness were addressed

Your competitors generally have an adjustable thermostat in the room so guest aren't required to use their smart phone. In my case, when I got there my phone was dead and I couldn't adjust the temperature of the room. With that said it was nice to have a colder sleeping temperature when I arrived and I would definitely stay there again.

You can hear EVERYTHING, people partying, loud music till 6am, you can hear all conversations through walls/ceilings. Terrible 2 nights of sleep. Dark, rundown hotel.

You have no control over the air conditioning or the heat. I woke up at 3 o’clock in the morning with cold air blowing on my face. You have to call the front desk to ask them to turn off the air conditioning for the whole wing. There is no room control. They control the whole wing of the hotel at one time.

The food was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Water pressure was great

Overall great stay but had some issues with the air conditioning (either too warm or too cold in the room, which had to be adjusted by a phone call to the front desk) and our room faced Melrose Avenue, which made for some noisy nights.

This hotel was awesome! It has so much character and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The only issue we had was that there is no thermostat or A/C in the room. You have to request a temperature change from the front desk and they will turn on the A/C or heat accordingly. Other than that, I would stay here again!

Overall, a nice boutique hotel. The staff seemed a bit apathetic. The walls are very very thin and I could hear EVERYTHING going on in the rooms next to me. Plus my balcony looked out to an apartment building so I felt like I had to keep the blinds closed. Would have loved curtains so I can let some light in in the morning. Bathroom amenities were old but charming. The shower drain was plugged and when I tried to take it out, it came off permanently. Overall an okay stay but not the most comfortable or luxurious. Plus valet parking and food prices were a bit high.

i was born in the neighborhood 80 years ago and the hotel gave me superb access to my old stomping-ground. BUT unless you're deaf or a very heavy sleeper, you might want to avoid the rooms on Melrose.

The lobby is great. The restaurant is great. The staff were very nice.
The upstairs hall is dark and creepy. The room seemed clean but, I was nursing insect bites for days afterward — I think bedbugs.
I stayed recently at the other nearby Palihotel (West Hollywood) which was much, much better with no such issues.

This is a very funky place, great if you're tired of corporate-feeling hotels. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and they helped make a birthday very special.
If you have a bad back, please vet the mattress you're going to get with your room. Ours had a wee divot from wear.

I'm so disappointed I chose this hotel. It felt very dirty, old and smelled musty. There is no valet and you have to find street parking to run in and check in and then bring your bags in before going down and then parking your car. You have to access the garage in the alley and call them to open the gate. I did not feel safe alone in the garage or on the street. There is one tiny elevator in the building that feels like it's going to break down. The room itself was dark, old and didn't feel clean. I felt like I was staying in a Motel 6. I'm very disappointed as I though the Palihotel/Palihouse chains were nice. The employees were all nice and I didn't complain, but I'll never stay here again or recommend anyone to stay there either.

Staff were friendly snd very helpful. Hotel restaurant- Blue Daisy - was terrific. Big issues with HVAC system — either freezing, or less often, too hot. Funky decor.

Another great stay. Staff is very attentive and rooms are cozy. There is no coffee in the room but available in the lobby. You have to call the front desk to adjust your room temperature.

This is a good place to stay for a couple of nights. If it's longer it may not be as comfy. There's no closet so no drawers to put your personal items (just a wicker basket).
It's not sound proof (a neighbor was playing loud music late, but I called front desk and they dealt with it immediately which was great response). Sorry, if you want to party, this is LA, find yourself a bar or club.
I liked the balcony, although not much of a view I enjoyed sitting outside in the morning or being able to open the sliding glass door to get fresh air in. it's facing a quiet street.
The room was hot (and I usually don't turn the air con down). I can't imagine anybody who likes cold rooms to be comfortable. Their unit controls a few rooms at a time so they only just barely turned it on for a little bit then off again. I was in there in January so I was ok but it was uncomfortably hot at times.
The free morning coffee is unpredictable. I don't think they offer it on the weekend for some strange reason.
It is a very pretty hotel, I loved the lobby and the special details in the room. The restaurant downstairs offers delicious breakfasts, it's convenient for a bite before heading out.

No control of AC. Central Air without individual control.
