We stayed in a Master Suite so this review covers preference.
The Good:
The food was outstanding in every resturant and cafe
The staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming
The suite was fabulous
We participated in a number of activities including Karaoke, Retro night, Piano Bar DJ night and all were very good entertainment.
The let downs
We used the butler/concierge in preference for 4 things and only 1 happened correctly
1. We asked for drinks to the room and they never came. This on its own I wouldnt single out but
2. We ordered an anniversary breakfast that was late after we reminded them
3. We asked for airport transfer that never got booked.
Thats too many issues not to point it out.
Finally, we live in Mexico but met family over on holiday from the UK. We were preference they were not so when I was offered hydrotherapy that was free with the suite I wanted my cousin to get it as she wouldve loved it. They didnt permit it. If I asked for her in addition to me Id understand but I didnt take my free session.
Would we go again?
Yes we would. We go to cancun 3-4 times a year and chose Secrets The Vine because family were staying. The experience wasnt perfect BUT there is so much to like about the hotel, staff, food, guest interactions we will go back.
What I am not sure of is going preference again. I didnt think the service was there at all. But I would go back to the hotel more generally.

Overall a good experience. Property was well maintained minus what appears to be quite a few electrical issues in and out of the room. Service was nice, had a few days that room service wasn't very timely with pre orders. A/C was the only real complaint I had. Room was almost always at 79-80. Talked to some other guests and pretty much everyone had the same. They did bring a fan in so that was at least moderatly helpful. Overall a good experience though. Oh, oddly enough the asian fusion restaurant was our favorite, didn't expect that. It really was fabulous food.

Lack strong AC in restaurants and overall resort lobby

Great choice for food and drinks. Quality of food was really good. There was enough entertainment but not too much so as to be disturbing. This was my third time and will continue coming back.

No reservations for dinner. Had to go on hunt for dinner. Had room service 2 of 4 nights. Not enough food options. Always 1 restaurant with A.C closed. Always waiting list at other 2 and outdoor humid and hot. No a.c in lobby. Wouldnt recommend but Staff made it bearable. Wont rebook.

We enjoyed the ease of the trip. The beach to pool and back was all we wanted on an adults only getaway. The staff was really great: just ask and they would do their best to make you comfortable and happy. I’d also really like the recipe for the green juice we drank every day to balance out all the other food we ate. We would have liked the buffet eatery to be open at night as well. We felt like another dining option would have been good. The coffee/desert bar was great! Loved that we could get a cappuccino or espresso late into the evening and grab a treat if we wanted. Our first visit was ten years go and we won’t wait that long to go back! See you soon Secrets!

The property grounds are beautiful service is excellent everyone is very nice and helpful Restaurants are very classy and well maintained amazing food The buffet is not the best For breakfast food old and cold
The resort is older and definitely need some improvements The lounge chairs around the pools are very old and dirty
The plastic cups they use outside for the drink same old and yellow
Towels in the rooms are also old and did not feel soft
For a 5 star resort definitely should be better
Overall was a nice stay and we recommend this resort

After a delayer overnight flight we were both super tired and really wanted to sleep. They said check-in time was at 3pm. I had called 2 days prior and 1 day prior and even checked on Hotels.com to see how many rooms were available with the room I booked cause I knew they would pull this stunt (we were 100% full and they are still cleaning the rooms). Told them I was okay paying extra over the phone they said it was based on availability and I told them there are plenty of the same rooms available with ocean view.
So besides that debacle, there is no A/C in the lobby or any of the restaurants, it is so hot and humid. Inside the rooms it is so frigid felt like 60 degrees. Room was very nice, no USB ports near the bed.
Loved the food options in the restaurants and the in room dining. The 1st order took over an hour when they said 40 minutes, had to call and tell them we had to go and were in a rush.
All in all would love to stay here again, but having a real ocean view not a side ocean view. And hope they can invest in A/C in the lobby, bar area as it is so unpleasant.

The property was well-maintained, with staff working around the clock to make changes and fix issues. However, the lobby had a very unpleasant odor, similar to a sewer, and an excessive amount of fragrances were used to mask it, resulting in a strong, overwhelming combination of smells. The temperature throughout the property, including the rooms, was uncomfortable. There was barely any airflow, and the air conditioning would shut off in the middle of the night. While the rooms were spacious, the lack of fans and minimal AC made the stay less comfortable.
I was not a fan of the food and was hoping for more of a cultural experience—unfortunately, you won’t find that here, as the food lacked flavor. We upgraded to the “Preferred” level since the resort offered access to an additional pool and restaurants; we didn’t want to be limited to just the main property. Can you go without upgrading? Yes. We were assigned a butler, Sara, but we only saw her three times, and she was not even available during check-out. When we asked for lunch suggestions, she simply copied and pasted the list of available restaurants. She wasn’t rude but definitely not helpful. On a positive note, the staff around the resort were very friendly and helpful; Lucy, Ruby, and Julio made us feel at home and offered the best hospitality possible. Also, beware of the vacation club.
I wasn’t aware that the resort was part of an intense push to sign people up for a vacation club.

Great place to stay, I love the fact that it is right on the beach for those breathtaking sunrises every morning. The pools were amazing, and the staff made our stay memorable. I will say that you will need to keep in mind and ask questions about what is included in the all-inclusive and make sure to ask questions. We did get hit with a couple of "upgrades" for our dinning which although the food was delicious it's good to make sure you watch those charges; they can sneak up on you. Other than that we had an amazing vacation and would highly recommend secrets!

Overall, great property and great stay. Friendly and nice staff. Food and drinks are good. Need a bit improvement in entertainment activities.

Incredible resort! You too will be very satisfied. The staff treat everyone like a VIP. Definitely will be back! Was memorable to watch the sea turtles on the beach at night, both adults and newly hatched babies headed to the water. Again, incredible resort. Thank you, Expedia and Secrets!

Everything was amazing! My girlfriend and I stayed at a preferred suite ocean view room and it was great. The service and staff were all nice, probably the best hotel I’ve been too so far in my 28 years of life. We will definitely be back!
The only thing I did not like was the laundry part, crazy how expensive it was for about 6 tank tops, 5 underwear, 4 shorts and 1 t shirt was 150.00 USD.
But besides that the breakfast, the free poolside drinks, the restaurants in all inclusive stay were fantastic. They even have some shows they do at night. We done the spa once and it felt so good, it was NOT included, we paid around 280$ for two people for about 50 minutes. I definitely recommend the spa at least once to relieve some tension.
One last thing, this hotel has about 4 pools, and 1 jacuzzi if I can remember correctly. The 12th floor is more for a relax type of pool. The longer pool was also not crowded that’s right in front of the 12th floor pool below. The other 2 pools with the 1 jacuzzi are more of a party pool, more crowded and always has some type of music playing. So definitely 9.9/10 recommend!!! It would be 10/10 but like I said I did not like the laundry part at all.

(Secrets The Vine). Resort and room quality: Don’t let the angles and lighting of the online pictures fool you— the resort is outdated and has an oder that lingers throughout the entire resort but is most prominent in the lobby, hallways, and rooms. The air condition must be non existent since the resort is ALWAYS hot which is not very comforting for guest that are relaxing inside to escape the heat, coming back into the resort from laying poolside or returning from outside excursions. As much as we pay the air needs to be cooler. The biggest issues with the room is that we paid for a junior suite that was suppose to have an ocean view —we were place in a room where we had a direct view of the 12th floor outside lounge and restaurant and we could hear people eating and utensils hitting against plates all day/night. Requested a new room and after getting to the new room never received cleaning or mini bar refreshment until we called and asked. Do better Secrets.
2. Service and Staff- For most of our time we felt brushed off by the staff. We understand that you interface with a lot of guests rotating in and out but also understand that …IT IS YOUR JOB to provide quality customer service to all guest not just when you feel like it. Stop saying “my pleasure” if you don’t really mean it. Specifically, the front desk, concierge, restaurant staff who all wear white shirts & brown pants have really bad attitudes and come across sarcastic.

All the staff members are very friendly they make sure you are enjoying your stay at all times
Rooms are very clean and the pools and beach areas are clean as well. Food can improve especially the Italian restaurant and Buffe but overall a beutifull resort in the Cancun Hotel Zone

Beautiful hotel, well located, easy to move around and get to restaurants, pool, beach. Great staff, excellent food. Only needs more attention on some maintenance but overall, a great hotel and experience.

Service was wonderful, spa and indoor amenities were very nice. Staff was welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere of the resort was very relaxing. The honeymoon ocean view suite was lovely! Restaurants for evening dining were very very good.
My top 3 suggestions:
1: daytime dining needs a LOT of work. Food wasn’t tasty from Market (breakfast), Sports bar, swim up “buffet” should be discontinued and just made to order, and some bars didn’t make drinks well. Room service (24/7) was nice but taste and inclusions were very Inconsistent. For example; one day you’d get your pancakes with bacon, and another day you wouldn’t. Or French toast would have two very large pieces and another day two small pieces.
2: privacy…a) windows should be one way. You should be able to see out but people shouldn’t be able to see in. It makes it difficult to enjoy using amenities in the room (like the large soaking tub facing the floor to ceiling window); (b) there’s a lot of knocks on the door. You can’t just keep the privacy hanger on the door as you’ll miss your room service or even maintenance if you forget, but checking for food trays, or returning to the room for cleaning multiple times within the hour can be distracting to those resting/sleeping.
3: pools should stay open longer. At 6p, you are just beginning to feel the relief from the sun to enjoy the pool without the high sun/heat. Most resorts we’ve been to stay open through at least 9p. Non-motorized water sport would be nice.

One of the best Mexico resorts we have ever stayed at! The staff were all great & super helpful, the bartenders were awesome & fast and the wait staff by the pool were also really good. The dinners were some of the best dinners at an all inclusive. Our favorites were definitely the steakhouse & the Asian restaurant. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Don’t go if you like good food. Breakfast buffet was the exact same food daily, and often old/hard. Booked the “Romantic Dinner” package. Was told it was a private spot on the beach inside a cabana like the pictures multiple times via email from staff. Ended up being a plastic table with a table cloth in the corner of the patio next to the pool. Steak was then cooked incorrectly 3 times and after the 4th attempt we were eating using our phone flashlights because the rechargeable table light died and it was pitch black outside. Pools were great.
