Absolument rien!

Tranquil and delicious!
From the calming color palette of the decor, to the beautiful tiles; from the lovely tranquil pool to the comfortable bed, we loved our stay.
Staff and owners were wonderfully helpful but a special recognition to Chef Karla! “Breakfast included” takes on a whole new meaning at the Diplomat. I don’t want to be very specific about the food and drop spoilers, because the presentation and explanation of breakfast each morning was just so fantastic that any guest should get to revel in discovering it as we did. Chef Karla’s skills in baking, preparation, and flavor combinations were out of this world.
We were so well taken care of at the Diplomat; it really made our first visit to Merida that much more special. Do not hesitate to book this hotel to explore the city!

Absolutely wonderful botique hotel; Facilities (rooms, pool, etc.) are spacious, modern, beautifully decorated and in great shape. The hosts and their staff are fantastic and super helpful; they gave us great recommendations both for Merida as well as the other places we planned on visiting, and were very accomodating when my wife wasn't feeling well (late check out; other food etc.). Delicious and fresh breakfast is another plus. Absolutely recommend!
Nothing, everything was great. Maybe an additional lounge chair by the pool would be great, but that's a very minor detail.

The property was gorgeous - like a secluded oasis in the city. The pool was one of my favorite parts, but the room was lovely as well. The staff and owners are incredibly helpful and kind, with great recommendations for things to do and see, shops, and places to eat - for which they proactively made us reservations. It is comfortable and convenient, a perfect launching off point for exploring, and close enough to the city center that you can stop back in for a quick cocktail and dip in the pool after lunch.
There was absolutely nothing that stood out to me that the property was missing.

Honestly one of the best hotels I've ever been to - we stayed as part of our honeymoon and Sara and her team (big shout out to Maria and Carla) made sure our stay felt so special, they just got everything right.
In terms of a luxurious base to help you explore the amazing city of Merida you couldn't ask for a better spot. Everything was so well considered, from the incredible homemade breakfasts (a culinary highlight of our 2 weeks in Mexico) to the personal recommendations, local knowledge and proactive/super friendly service - we could've stayed for so much longer enjoying the lovely pool and outstanding margaritas when the city heat got too much.
The room was delightful, so many thoughtful touches, Sara made a real effort to get to know us during our stay and even booked in an ad hoc manicure for my wife whilst we were there.
I hope to revisit Merida would 100% stay at The Diplomat again if we do, highly highly recommend.
Nothing, it was perfect.

I can’t express more how incredible this was. Everything was simply exceptional, from the service to the room to the design to comfort. The staff make you feel at home and will make sure you are always happy. And the food and drinks… WOW. Best margarita and breakfast I’ve had in a while…
If you want to have a great trip, you should stay here.
Nothing about this place was close to bad.

The most friendly, helpful hosts and staff who went out of their way to make us feel at home.
The owners made us reservations for multiple lovely restaurants in Mérida.
The room was super clean and the bed was the best we slept in during our 3 week vacation in Yucatan.
We parked the car in front of the hotel (no charge).
We loved the pool, the afternoon treats and the wonderful breakfast.
And yes: the complimentary tequila/mescal bar is a real thing!
there was nothing(!) we didn’t like.

Team Diplomat gave outstanding service, they even gave us a breakfast to go on days we went out touring very early. Their service made you feel at home, attention to detail at a very high standard.
20 minute walk to town center.

To say The Diplomat is amazing is an understatement. It is a beautiful, quiet, and well appointed 5 suite hotel within walking distance, or a short uber from city center. From the moment we walked in we were treated like royalty. Over the next 5 days every detail was perfect and all of our expectations were exceeded. The service was seamless and they made it appear effortless, from breakfast, to cocktails, to assisting in planning.
Sara and Neil are true rockstars. They are generous, charming folks. Planning for our visit they were available via email and quick in response. They helped us understand the city, arrange massages and day trips, and were happy to assist with anything we needed. Their staff are knowledgeable, kind, efficient, and helpful. Carla and Maria stood out as exceptional during our stay. Carla cooks the best breakfasts, which vary each day and are delicious. Best breakfasts of any hotel we’ve ever eaten at. The pool was cool during our stay, however was appreciated after walking the city in 90 degree weather!
The staff will prepare cocktails at the touch of a button and there is also an “honor bar” stocked with wine and beer. Additionally there are always a few Mezcals/ Tequilas for tasting in the afternoon/ evening. A lovely touch.
We cant wait to come back, and recommend The Diplomat to all who come to Merida.

Beautiful boutique hotel with lots of charm.
The owners Sara and Niels (and their staff) are delightful and happy to share plenty of recommendations for Merida and beyond.
The whole property is beautifully renovated, the rooms are tastefully decorated, and the overall mood is very cozy.
Breakfast was probably the best we had in Mexico. I mean ... Champagne for breakfast is the best!
I love the concept of the "open bar" where you just help yourself and write down what you took for the final bill. But there is also the staff of course, to prepare a nice cocktail!
The laundry service was super fast.
I wish we could have stayed a couple of nights more to enjoy the pool and just relax at the property.
Our bedroom had no window, only 2 small openings in the ceiling. Thankfully the room walls were really high, and the white walls made the room bright enough.
There is no choice of breakfast, it is the daily special of the chef I guess. It was really delicious but maybe some would prefer to have a real choice.
The hotel is a tiny bit far from the center of town. A good 20 min walk.
I would have loved a kettle in the room, for my morning tea!
None of the the above should prevent anyone from booking though!

Superb breakfast, very original, varies daily according to what’s available at market.

The owners clearly have got all the details down pat
In particular the personal breakfast overlooking the pool, fresh flowers, notes and treats in the room everyday made the stay feel special

The service was impeccable. We got so much more than we expected. Our stay started with the welcoming greeting from the owner, who welcomed us with complimentary margaritas and sat down with us to give us a lay of the land and help plan our excursions. Once that was completed, they sent us off on our mission. The next morning, breakfast was amazing. The food was beautifully presented and yummy. Interestingly, fruits I didn’t use to like are now back on my food list. Again, Neil/Sara touched base with us to see how we were doing. The staff, too, met our needs beyond what we were expecting. I can not think of anything that I didn’t love about The Diplomat. We travel a lot, and we’ve never had a hotel experience like this one.

This was simply the best place we stayed throughout our travels in Yucatan and Quintana Roo. A pure oasis in the city. Nothing was too much trouble for owners, Neil and Sarah, who are extremely knowledgeable about their city and also much of Mexico. Cannot recommend more highly

A magical place in the heart of Merida. Gorgeous architecture, impeccable sense of style and elegance, great attention to detail, tranquil, charming, spotless. With no doubt the best boutique hotel in Merida!
Maybe a couple of discreet, subtle fans in the outdoor areas would be a nice touch for the summer and the heat.

Beautiful building with 5 guest rooms that has been tastefully designed and decorated. The owners, Sarah and Neil and all their team were welcoming and incredibly helpful, suggesting restaurants and sightseeing trips. Breakfast was a homemade feast that changed each morning… yum! The best place we stayed whilst travelling around the Yucatan peninsula.
Nothing.

Absolutely everything. The attention to detail from Sara and Neil is outstanding. From initial communication to arriving and having our room ready much earlier that official check-in time. Sara is very knowledgeable on the town, recommended lots of places to visit and to eat at in the evening. They booked us a reservation at a superb restaurant.
The bed was one of the
most comfortable beds I have slept in and the the room was very tastefully decorated.
I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough.
Outstanding.
Thank you Sara and Neil for your warm welcome.

We had a fantastic stay! Sara and Neil and all the team are amazing! So warm and open and they really made us feel at home. This is such a gem of a hotel. We loved everything - the team, the interiors, the pool area, the food. A wonderful experience!

The property was a little oasis in the middle of the city. The back courtyard is beautiful and a perfect spot to cool off after a day in the Merida heat. The rooms were also very comfortable… lots of space and tastefully decorated.

The location was perfect. We felt safe and could easily walk to numerous places to shop, eat or sightsee. The breakfast was different every day and was a work of art! The food was all made from scratch by Carla and the fruit was so fresh and different. It was beyond delicious! The presentation was photographic and worthy of any magazine cover. The hospitality here was amazing and unlike anything we've ever experienced. Neil and Sara were accomodating to our needs. The attention to detail far surpasses anywhere else where we've stayed. The staff were wonderful. I can't say enough good about The Diplomat. The little touches made us feel very welcome and at home.
I wish we could have stayed longer.

Perfect Small boutique hotel with only five rooms.
The Interior design is flawless, the pool area very nice perfect place to spend the hot afternoons Merida.
Small little details like the complimentary tequila bar by the pool, the amazing breakfasts .
The hosts, Sara and Neil,do their best to make you feel welcome and take care off all practical things that you might need during your stay.
I would definitely recommend this Hotel

The (included) breakfast was absolutely amazing - delicious, healthy, beautifully prepared and infused with local flavor. The staff at the Diplomat have an uncommon and surprising warmth and attention to detail. The room was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Sara arranged restaurant recs, knowledgeable guides and gave honest, practical advice on how to plan our itinerary. This whole experience was exceptional.
We loved everything. Travelers should know that the Diplomat is not in the center of town but Merida is exceptionally safe and it is easily walkable or accessible by Uber for about $2 USD.
