We wre disappointed that our room was never serviced in any way.
The hotel was pleasant , breakfasts were great, but beds should be made every morning, we would not stay again.

Me and the wife had a really nice stay. Everything we needed was available to us. The room was nice. We really liked the garden seating area, very peaceful. We only had 1 issue during our stay, the breakfast service was unfortunately quite poor, we waited nearly 1 hour for breakfast, I asked the waitress after 45 mins and her response was we are really busy, yet we counted 4 people who came in after us who got there food before us, shame because everything else was great.

It was trying to be more up market than it was. Particularly the kitchen. If you want to serve small elegant portions they need to be perfect, they were far from perfect. Other than that apart from being forgotton at dinner and left sitting there the staff were good.

We have stayed here a few times now.
I do think this time it felt more run down and is in need of a clean up and modernisation. On checkout we were informed that the new owners are doing this.
The room was clean but the bed linen needed a change.
The staff are lovely and the same ones remain and recognise us each time and make a real effort.
They did upgrade our room too,and it was for a special occasion so that was lovely.
Overall I felt the price we paid was quite expensive as the hotel needs a revamp, but location is brillint and it is the Lake District.
Staff amazing and would like to try it again when it reopens in a year or so.

The hotel and room were good. The room was quiet and comfortable with a good bed and sufficient space. Wifi signal not good however, so had to use mobile data instead. The staff were helpful and attentive - when we could find them because there were too few. For this reason they can't answer the phone and group head office doesn't appear to respond to voice messages.
The food really let the place down. For "crusty bread" instead read "dried and tough bread" but no one came by at the right time to complain. Won't be back. Sorry.

enjoyed the stay

Great hotel, super friendly staff.

Entrance from the car park old, scuffed with dirty carpet and maintenance buckets and ceiling debris , not a good start . £289 for a suite that had scaffolding covering main windows and no blind . Workmen could be heard next morning . Sash window by the bed could not be opened as it had two screws to stop it. Extractor fan didn’t work in the bathroom ..Outside terrace dirty and therefore unusable on a pleasant evening. Main restaurant dirty , service slow and didn’t take correct orders at breakfast . Menus identical to all other hotels with hotel names differing eg Wordsworth burger . Not one member of staff seemed to be happy , pleasant or courteous. No locals seem to be employed here either . Standards have seriously lowered and this hotel is living on its previous reputation.

Great location in the heart of Grasmere. Easy parking. Good breakfast. Lovely new bathroom. The room itself and the restaurant and reception areas could do with a bit of an update which would make it fabulous. Maybe removing some carpets and having wooden floors would help.

Lovely staff and great food - hotel needs a bit of tidying up as looking tired in places

Enjoyed our short stay very much. Unfortunately the spa area was not in use so couldn’t give five stars 🌟

Generally a lovely weekend, and felt homely and welcoming with staff. Weekend stop during New Year weekend.
Some aspects of the fixtures and fitting did look a little tired, but overall enjoyable
4.3
Fantastic location, our room was in the corridor to the rear of the property next lo the rear entrance which was a little noisy. Reasonable food and facilities, just felt a little dated in places, and not sure we’d give it 4 stars. That’s said we enjoyed our stay and none of the above spoiled our weekend.
4.3
Lovely friendly staff. Food was excellent, and the staff were very helpful with dietary requirements.
4.3
The hotel was modern and spaceous with excellant furnishings and knowledgeable staff, food and drinks were very good and parking was free and easy

2nd visit to this hotel. Excellent location and nice breakfast. Stayed in room 22 and had a few issues. The toilet wouldn’t flush properly and there seemed to be a lot of heat behind the bathroom. Mentioned the broken flush to reception and it was never repaired. Room dated and could do with a refurbishment. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Great hotel ideal situated for the Lakes. Great service from all staff.

It was a lovely place to stay, beautiful room, beautiful village, really helpful staff. We loved the pool and jacuzzi! Good breakfast, very peaceful location. Thanks so much.

Set in wonderful country side with lovely walk around Grasmere lake close to the hotel

The room we stayed in was very comfortable. The coffee machine was a treat! The restaurant was brilliant and both dinner and breakfast were very yummy.
4.3
Great location, nice spaces outside. Room and decor very shabby. Smelled. I needed anti histamine as made allergies play up. We avoided sitting on fabric of furniture as did not look clean. Bathroom was spotless. Breakfast had good choices from menu( which was included in price of room) .
Main issue hotel did not have a 5 star feel and was certainly not fabulous as rating on hotel. Com indicated
4.3
Beautiful area great for walking . Nice little village with nice shops for sports and arts .
Hotel was nice, but the first night they put us in a room next to the very noisy elevator. It really ruined the nightly rest .
Employees were very friendly and helpful and made it up by upgrading us to a much nicer room , where we were welcomed by a glass of Prosecco .

Wordsworth Hotel is lovely. Very conveniently located in the centre of Grasmere. Our room was very well presented. The bar-man was very professional and friendly and made us some great cocktails. We were a bit disappointed to find that the Signature restaurant now seems to be merged with the bistro. Nothing against bistros but we had made an effort to get dressed up for the more formal restaurant only to find that people sat near us were wearing shorts and trainers as a result of the new set up. On the whole, a great hotel, however.
4.3
A lovely hotel in a lovely setting. Checking in and out was a little frantic due to other guests milling about and making demands.
One real issue for us was young people misusing the pool and spa facilities. We were looking forward to chilling out after a long couple of days and our experiences was marred by feral youths bombing, splashing, screaming, etc. and running around the facilities. There was no attendance or supervision and a complaint to reception staff generated zero comment or response. It really spoiled our stay

Room allocated was very hot, the radiator was stuck on full heat even though it was 28deg outside, and could not be turned off. The shower/bath had sides so high that a shorter elderly person could not possibly get in without some form of steps. An upgrade room was offered for some of our stay which was acceptable. On our last night we were returned to a standard room, really small and very hot. A security light was mounted right outside the window lighting up the room like daylight which meant that the blind and curtains had to be shut tight to keep the light out, which also cut off any cool air. A very expensive disappointment, but at least the staff were friendly.

My husband and I loved The Wordsworth Hotel. It is obviously an older property, but for us it had been updated where it counts. The bathroom was lovely. The staff treated us so very well, and we loved the bartenders!! Especially our friend from Scotland. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. The location was ideal to walk into everywhere in Grasmere and also to get to hiking trails.

The Wordsworth is a lovely old hotel in the centre of the beautiful village of Grasmere. Highly recommended.

Great location and excellent staff

The location and building are beautiful, everything was clean and we used the pool and jacuzzi which were lovely.
My parents had a card in their room saying if they forego getting the room cleaned they can have a free drink, which I thought was a great idea. However, I didn't have a card, and when I asked at reception I felt like I was stressing the woman out as she said it was nothing to do with her and was the cleaning staff's responsibility. Eventually the barman gave me a free drink, however.
Breakfast was decent, quick service, and a range of options. Our order was slightly wrong but it was still enjoyed.
I must say the hotel was very warm. I didn't need the radiator on in my room, and I even had to open the window at times. In February that's crazy haha!

Excellent, room was spacious and clean food was superb

Everything excellent.

Very good hotel, rooms were spotless and comfortable. Spa was good with plenty of chairs also given robes, slippers and towels. Provided. Breakfast was great with lots to choose from and very quick service and pleasant staff. Only negative point was that check-in is not till 4pm and when it came to 4pm we were told it was too soon as rooms may not be ready as a member of staff hadn’t turned in at 8am. Everyone was sitting around waiting to check-in with their luggage. We did eventually get our room key after complaining but having lots of people sitting round in reception and other rooms all waiting to check-in was not a good customer experience. I did enjoy my time there once checked-in but surely a hotel of this calibre should have rooms ready at 4pm or at least offer a complimentary drink if the rooms not available.

Enjoyed our stay at the Wordsworth, stayed B&B & diner, food was very good with a good choice, good size bedroom for all the wet clothing. Lots of walks from the door. Friendly staff. Only gripe would be, limited selection of draft beers, Boddingtons only.
4.3
Very comfortable and quiet room. All the staff were excellent as always. A very easy place to live in a lovely setting
4.3
Lovely night for my husbands birthday. Free upgrade which was nice. Room very comfortable although a bit hot and breakfast was lovely with good service . Great location on the edge of grasmere village.
4.3
Lovely short break, room was exceptionally hot, thank goodness for air con that was needed even though it was end of October and raining
