Good value

Excellent overnight stay, nice bedroom, sea view, drink and food also good, will stay again.

Customer service is good. However, Room 7 where we stayed need some makeover. The carpets were very dirty. The wooden headboard was sort of discomforting, and the pillows need changing as the are uncomfortable to sleep on. Also, there should be more pillows than the two flat ones provide. The interior is generally old and could be improved on. Overall, we did not enjoy our stay.

A lovely position, but a bit chaotic. There's no manager on site and the young staff struggle. It's clean, but a bit rundown.

We stayed in a family room (7) and chose it for the fact it has 2 separate sleeping areas divided by a curtain so plenty of space for everyone to get a good nights sleep. Each room has a tv. There’s an ensuite and also a separate WC. The decor in the main bedroom very pretty but the other room need a bit of paint to bring it up to the same and it also could have done with a fan. Bathroom spacious with a bath so ideal for kids.
Dinner menu was ok. We arrived late and they accommodated us but not a lot of choices in adult menu. Children’s menu was good and healthy. Break fast was excellent - I had salmon and scrambled egg on sourdough and everyone else had a hearty fry up. Coffee good too from the coffee machine.
Location is excellent at the top of the cliffs to a sandy beach but a bit out of Bournemouth town. It suited us well. We lived all the dogs frequenting this dog friendly pub.
Overall an excellent stay. Although the rooms do need a little paint touch up here and there but expected as reflected in the price.

A nice friendly hotel with a good menu - AND it's close to a Wonderful beach.

Breakfasts poor only had one and decided to eat breakfast in local café which was good better value

Very limited parking. Inside the rooms were tired and could do with an update. Meals were a good standard. All Staff were very friendly and attentive.
Overall we had a pleasant stay.

Good restaurant, friendly staff

Unfortunately, we had a poor experience. The first thing noticed was that part of the hotel name was missing from the front of the hotel which we realised was indicative of the overall thoughts whilst staying there. The lift had no lights when using it so you had to remember where the floor numbers were before you entered it. The food in the restaurant was not of good standard, the steak ordered was medium and arrived 'more' than well done, the chicken caesar salad had just four small pieces of chicken.
The room was tidy but soap dispensers in the room and bathroom were empty. The toilet failed to flush on several occasions the switch for the bathroom extractor fan was out of reach for average height visitors as at 6'2'' it could barely be reached it over the bathroom door.
A shame because the location of the hotel is very good and it had the potential for being a good stay. .

Great stay for the price

The hotel is well situated and the room suited my needs but was very tired and in need of a spruce up. Walls very scuffed, shower curtain had brown stain all along bottom, and door chain didn’t work. Lots of little things which don’t do the hard working and very nice staff justice.

Perfect for my needs

Great location. Lovely view of the coast. Very friendly helpful staff. Comfortable beds. Fabulous breakfast.

Very helpful and efficient staff.

The hotel policy is to pay on arrival to save on checkout process which I had not expected but accepted. My room was good but I changed to one that had a bath instead of a shower and a larger tv. The bed was super clean and comfortable with crisp white cotton sheets and duvet. View over the sea was amazing. Fabulous full English breakfast cooked quickly to order. All the staff were very helpful and polite. Overall a very good experience.

The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, especially Selina… Who cooks an amazing breakfast!! Definitely recommend to others and would stay again.

great outlook good size rooms very pleasant staff

A good stay in a very good location. The room was comfortable and clean.
Our main complaint would be the lack of proper coffee with breakfast- only instant coffee was available. The second morning I saw someone with a latte but they had to pay extra and it wasn't made clear. At £150 a night I don't think fresh coffee is too much to ask
Otherwise an enoyable stay

Nice enough place with friendly helpful staff. Decor was a teeny bit faded but not poor.

Mostly clean and pleasant enough. Could pay a bit more attention with cleaning.
Staff very friendly, breakfast pretty good, lots of free parking in area

Excellent location lovely room and staff. Tasty meals and plenty of it.

Postitives - Lovely cliff sea view location above a nice pub. Room decor was nice, bed was abit soft personally for me. Shower water temperture and Pressure good.
Negatives - Bathroom fan faulty, bathtub drainage blocked, did eventuality drain. Window handle broke off in my hand. Roof guttering cleaning guys using extended poles and noisy suction device around 8am Luckily i wasn't having a lie in. I know these things have to be done but seriously at that time!

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Great food and fantastic location. Rooms were comfortable and I felt safe. Great place to stay if traveling solo for work or holiday, location is very close to the beach.

The location of this property is outstanding. It is located across the road from the seashore and easy walking distance to shops and local transportation.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and provided excellent service to us at meal times. One can get meals/snacks in the pub from 8 am to 9:30 pm. Drinks are served until 11 pm. The room was clean and maid service provided daily. There is an elevator lift to the second and third floor rooms.
On the downside, the sink drainage was poor. The hot water boiler broke and had to be replaced resulting in 4 nights with no hot water and no heat from the radiators (November stay so fairly cool weather).
Staff arranged for us to have hot showers on day 4 at a sister property just a few blocks away, provided us with a portable heating unit also on day 4. The manager gave us a free steak dinner in the pub on the first night the boiler died and deducted 1/2 off the price of our morning breakfasts (10 days).

Convenient location by car with great views from the bar/restaurant and the room I had.

Nice people - very friendly and warm welcome and super helpful over supper with the kids even though they were obviously busy. We really had a great stay here, it’s a nice spot atop the cliffs over the beach, and the hotel is east going and relaxed and does a great breakfast too.

Amazing views. Lovely staff. Bedroom had been updated the hotel was clean but a little tired in decoration. Breakfast was very good value

Excellent room and value for money

A warm welcome (from Ross) when we arrived, and a snuggly, warm & spacious room. (We paid a little extra for a lovely expansive sea view). All staff were very helpful. We had evening meals both of our 2-night stay, and the menu was very good... a great lentil cottage pie the first night - so tasty & substantial that a meat-eater would have been very content, and a goats cheese & butternut squash tart the 2nd night. Again this was substantial & a real voyage of discovery of flavour-mixes, with a tasty salad. We hope to visit again. We understand that new management came in 2021, so ignore any negative reviews from before that time. The Commodore now seems to have a good vibe, motivated staff, and a loyal following. Definitely on the up & up!

Great hotel, excellent staff, amazing price. Would recommend and stay again

The food is amazing and so reasonably priced. Staff cannot do enough to make your stay the best
4.1
Very limited parking and issues with the shower rooms can do with modernisation as very dated and old furniture but what do you expect for £50 a night

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel, given how affordable our trip was. The room was spotlessly clean, and though it was a little bit tired in places, it was comfortable, and the bedding was a lovely quality.
The staff were friendly and accommodating without ever being "in your face", and the view (which was a lovely surprise, as we hadn't booked it) was really special.
We didn't have breakfast included in our package, but found it tasty and affordable.
Parking was free, on the road, very close to the hotel.
