We have stayed here twice now. Excellent location lovely views over the river. Rooms lovely and clean and friendly welcoming staff.
Lovely breakfast with the best poached eggs!
4.3
The hotel is centrally located to the old city centre of York so you can walk to everything. The hotel also offers a secure car park. The rooms seem a little dated, lino flooring in our room is cracked and the dining room has no windows. Breakfast is OK, we have seen better. Overall, we would stay here again primarily because of the location.

We found that far from being a twin-bed room, the one king bed plus one small single that skated about wasn't what we'd expected.
The bathroom has no sink-side space for toiletries, only one towel rail in an awkward place & no hooks or places to put clothing while showering.
Having paid ahead for b&b we weren't best pleased to be told that there was no space for us in the dining room when we needed to advance our time for rail-travel reasons. Luckily the dining room staff took pity on us & found us a table.
Our dinner on the first evening was a bit disappointing. Promising dishes arrived cold on cold plates & not much warmer when reheated. My friend's port in croute was too tough to chew. We went elsewhere next night.

We have been staying there for 3 nights. The hotel has an excellent position in the city i.e., very close to important monuments. Clean room with big ensuite bathroom. The only disadvantage was that a queen bed was a little smaller than we expected.

Booked a smoking room and it stunk of stale tabs. Never again. Huge cobwebs in bathroom, im sure that room not be cleaned properly either as toothpaste marks next to bathroom sink. Breakfast wasnt the best either

Had a very pleasant stay. Convenient to York City attractions. Room with river view was clean, comfortable with nice hot shower. Would recommend. Nice breakfast selection. Can't comment on dinner.
4.3
Main bed was comfortable but kids bed were just mattresses on the floor. Well located.
4.3
A wonderful hotel close to the city centre. Rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy.
Breakfast is also very good and a good proce for the area.
4.3
It was a great location and breakfast was filling.

We had a pleasant overnight stay. The hotel is in a lovely position overlooking the river and so close to the city centre. Would throughly recommend.
4.3
We needed a simple room with parking in the centre of York. Even though this was not a 4 or 5 star hotel the rooms were nice and the staff were both friendly and helpfull. Loved York with lots to see and do.
4.3
Returned again to this lovely hotel, had family river view room, which id recommend. Staff very friendly, easy check in, breakfast is very good, from cereals, fruit to cooked breakfast. Only issue we had was the room was very hot, the window only opens slightly and there is electric fan.
4.3
Lovely stay again very friendly and helpful staff. Paid to stay in hotel car park this time which was much easier. So convenient for walking around York.
4.3
Very pleasant enjoyable stay

Room clean and ok size and comfy beds
4.3
The room was spacious and clean with a lovely view over the river
Booked a parking spot for additional £18 which was for 24 hours from midday to midday which meant that we could look around York both before and after our check in/out
Very central to York town centre so convenient for the shops and attractions
4.3
Great location to walk to and from train transportation, restaurants and York historical sites.
4.3
I liked that we had a great view of the river and the city . Great location for going to the wall, Shambles , Minster . A good walking area and lots of choices for restaurants.
4.3
The location for this, specifically the river view, was absolutely beautiful and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. I would definitely return.

Faults first: the wifi is basically worthless because they're not allowed to drill under the river to place a higher speed cable. Nearby it wasn't any better though. The bed was okay but more pillows are needed, and I have no idea why faucets separate a hot handle and cold so you can't wash your face easily. Also, the TV didn't work at all so we couldn't watch the Euro Cup opener. But that brings us to the best part, the staff.
They allowed us to watch the game in the next room over after they couldn't fix our tv. They accommodated our daughters with mattresses on the floor, but the girls were comfortable. Our bed was adequate, and the water pressure was good. It was clean.
Otherwise it's not a high quality hotel. But it fit in our budget for a one-night stay, and was close to the Minster and The Shambles, as well as the river and the rail station.
Thank you to the staff for trying to help with the aforementioned items.

Pretty room, very cozy. Comfy bed, plenty of warm water (not actually hot, but warm enough). Very close to the river, shops, restaurants, and sights to see, and walkable from the train station. Very accommodating about our breakfasts (they arranged a takeaway for us when only late slots were available the first morning, and a before-usual-times the next day when we had a very early train to catch). Super helpful half-a-level elevator in the lobby to get luggage/wheelchairs/whatever from street level to the reception desk. No complaints at all, this is a fine establishment.
And although we’ve agreed future trips to the UK will focus more on villages and small towns, and less on cities, York is an exception. It’s a special blend of the old and the newer, and really quite charming and beautiful. The Shambles was fun, Westminster was stunning (and the climb to the tower just as challenging as they warned, but well worth it), the wall around the inner city - we loved it all.
4.3
The hotel has friendly pleasant staff and is conveniently located to explore York on foot. The train station is an easy10 minutes walk away. Entry to reception is via stairs and a wheelchair lift is provided. The beds are comfortable, windows open for fresh air. Thermostatically controlled wall mounted heater and a table fan are provided. Rooms are clean. Bathroom could be cleaner. They let us check in early and the floor and bath were damp and some mop fibres were left on the floor next to the bath which was off putting. Liquid soaps provided which had a pleasant fragrance. I would stay here again for a city break in York.
4.3
Excellent value! Really like the hotel room size and cleanliness. Had to walk a little farther to town and train station but was well worth the effort.
4.3
Superb location right on the river and close to all amenities and tourist attractions. Lovely breakfast. Felt evening meal booking too restrictive but staff friendly.
Room clean and comfortable. Bathroom needed a bit of TLC.
We would definitely return
4.3
The mattress in the room ruined our backs. They need to renew it as it was old and sunk in the middle. The WiFi is nonexistent. It was very, very slow. They have smart TVs in the room - but why? With internet that slow, streaming was not a possibility. The breakfast was waaaaaaayyyyy too much meat. And can you do a different egg beside poached. I would not recommend this place. The only positive is that it is close to everything
4.3
Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and provided everything we needed. Only real issue was the WiFi was abysmally slow.
4.3
Nice Hotel and close to the City

Excellent property for the stay. Very well located with breakfast and dining options in its restaurant. Rooms are spacious, nice and clean.
4.3
Superb stay, we stayed in room 7bwhich had a River view which made the stay even better. It was lovely to wake up to and also to sit next to the window and watch the rowerrs and boats go past.
Shower was powerful and a huge bath
Room 7 is right next to the restaurant which was fine, not noisy in the mornings when breakfast is being served.
£21 for 2 for a buffet style breakfast
4.3
Great location, easy walkable access to most tourist highlights in York.
Hotel was clean and safe but rooms were very warm even when using the fan.
Overall though, good value for money.

The Queen's Hotel is a good hotel that is well maintained and is good value for money for a York city centre hotel.
