Bedroom had wallpaper hanging off, gap between the skirting board and carpet so you could see the rafters underneath. Awkward bathroom with sloping ceiling hindering climbing in/out of bath/shower. Difficult to wash in the sink as the shower glass is very close behind, you need to really use the sink sideways- we are not large people! Toaster still doesn’t work properly! Paper thin walls (on 2nd floor). 2nd night a regular noise was heard through out the night, we put it down to a water pump, annoying.
Not the best stay.

Great communal areas, bar and outdoor seating. We opted for the continental breakfast which was lovely, plenty to choose from.
Bedroom could do with a bit of maintenance as curtains falling off the tracks and the tap on the sink was loose. However great value for money hotel and would stay again.

Room was fine, everything I needed and very clean. But the room was very hot, though there was a fan, the curtains didn’t fit the window properly so I was awake very early. Also bathroom door sticks on the tiles. Was ok for one night.

Lovely Hotel in a perfect spot, staff were very friendly and we had an enormous cooked breakfast, what more can i say !!!

Rather poor- slow check in. Basin tap very loose. Shower doors didn’t function correctly, toilet seat not straight, window latch broken & a glass from the bathroom had toothpaste on it. All easily fixable problems. Toaster only toasted one side, we were told they were waiting for the part- we had stayed a month ago and were told exactly the same. No one at checkout to raise the concerns.

No parking at the hotel

Good for a quick break away. Quirky castle room , water nice and powerful.
Easy walk into town, but Southport isn't like it used to be.

Extremely warm and friendly hotel. The price was very reasonable, good breakfast and very clean throughout. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning to this little gem in the future.

Had a great 2 night stay at the Duke's Folly. Staff very friendly , rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Although we didn't have a main meal there the menu was was varied and looked very cheap in comparison to a lot of other places. We did however have a continental breakfast which was lovely. Would definitely stay there again.

We booked on the understanding that there was parking as advertised. This is NOT the case there is no parking apart across the rd at £8.50 a day. The room to say the least was extremely limited for space and not very clean.
On the second day the room leaked water through the ceiling which was an historical issue due to staining of curtains and walls
Was moved to another room which was admittedly larger but wasn't clean it even had an old contact lens on the bathroom floor. The manager actually had the audacity to try to explain to us what a wet room was and not be concerned about spilling water on the floor TWICE.

Room . Shower poor. Tap on sink loose.no black out curtain fire escape light out side .continuous noise unable to sleep. Was informed this was due to air con next door. So if you are aware of this issue why keep it to your self .had to ho and wake staff who moved me to a room so i could get some sleep.second time saying here will def be giving a miss in future.

East to find, conveniently located yards from the main centre, Lord street. Safe parking was available across the road at £8.50 for 24 hours. Room was cosy and clean with lift available. Continental breakfast was superb and included. Cooked breakfasts were available as an extra. About 10 minutes walk from the Atkinson theatre. Very enjoyable stay.

Lovely clean hotel. Room was small and overlooked by a window to next door with no net curtain on main window, but other than that it was lovely

Great location. Recommended

The hotel no longer has it's own parking area, it now has tables & chairs set out in that space.
There is some on street parking almost outside and a church car park opposite (£8 per day), so no problem really.
Made to feel really at home by all staff, for me the continental breakfast was plentiful, my wife went for a cooked breakfast (£6).
All in all a pleasaant stay, our 2nd stay, hopefully we will return.

Hotel is in a very convenient location for all local amenities. Hotel is decorated to a good order. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bathroom hadn’t been cleaned prior to check in as the sink had residue on it and stains under the bowl. It also wasn’t cleaned during our stay either. Neither was the bin emptied. Not good that despite the hotel being closed for a time earlier on in the year, there was decorating going on right outside of our room. Also there are rooms - ours included right next to reception - so we were woken up every morning by staff and kept awake at night due to guests sitting in there talking loudly. Beds were a bit on the hard side. Heating didn’t work at all, despite staff insisting it was working ok. You cannot control the heating individually in each room, so a number of guests commented on the lack of heating. There was some sort of do going on, on one night, which resulted in people late at night running through the hotel trying doors and going into the empty rooms, including the one next to ours and the noise went on all night. Staff need to control their guests a lot better and schedule their repairs etc when rooms are not occupied. Whilst the stay was ok, I am not sure I would stay there again.

Hotel was clean but very dated. Beds were not comfortable as mattresses were flat.
The quilt cover on the bed was also ripped.
Breakfast was ok and hot
We won’t be returning to the hotel.

Very enjoyable stay. It was a shame we hadto pay for parking and pay extra for a full English breakfast. Breakfast was superb.

The owner was kind and helpful. The hotel was clean and really nice. Everything was very pleasing. The only problem was the shower as it had a posh shower head on it that was too heavy for the holder and it kept falling down the pole. Would highley recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel. Good food and value for money. The staff were very good but rushed off their feet and they could have done with an extra member of staff in the bar / restaurant area
