Disappointed with this hotel. Not at all what the website portrayed.
The room had a damp stale smell. The sheets were clean but the rest of the bed furniture looked dirty. The whole room was shabby. The mug and spoon on the tray was dirt. The towels looked clean but had a damp feel.
I wanted to leave but had paid quite a lot of money as I wanted to be comfortable.
The website indicated there was gym & pool facilities which turned out to be access to a local gym, pool with a pass.

We had a very lovely stay here whilst we were in town for a wedding. I feel that the owners went out of their way to make our stay more comfortable and easier. Breakfast was great and the room was very comfortable!

Booking this hotel was misleading from the start. The hotel describes having 2 pools and a spa. This isnt correct. You can access a nearby pool and spa if staying 2 nights or more.
We booked a room which wasnt cheap and were then told after we booked it that we had £25 more to pay if we wanted en-suite.
The room was noisy. The fire.doors slam all day and night. This was worse as the toilet for use by the other people on our floor was opposite the room.
Positives - Sue is lovely. Breakfast was delicious and the room was clean. Location was great as well.

We were offered a hot drink as soon as we arrived. Our room was a bit smaller than expected but spotlessly clean had a couple of nice touches with tissues and mints provided.John and Sue were very friendly and also provided a very good breakfast.Great pluses were the inclusion of a free pass to the nearby leisure centre and the on site free parking. We would stay here again.

excellent value - perfect location, spotless and very thorough in explaining the hotels rules and policies. My only issue, breakfast (which was excellent ande cooked to order) could be a little later and a little more flexible. My slot was 08:20 end of.

We stayed for 2 nights in a triple room which was clean and tidy. John and Sue were very hospitable and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Cup of tea on arrival in lounge. Breakfast was very good, especially the poached eggs. Very convenient location. Gym and pool off site, only a few minutes walk away.

Very friendly hosts who offered us tea and coffee on arrival. The room was large and had tea/coffee facilities. The first night it was a little chilly in the room, but this was rectified the next day (they did provide a hot water bottle and explained that the heating wasn't on full time; they also told us to let them know if it wasn't okay and they would turn it up). The breakfast was plentiful and they put the rugby on for us which was great. If you wanted to get a takeaway you could use the breakfast room and there was a fridge and glasses if you wanted to bring your own drinks in. The hotel is in a good location, near to the pier and the centre of Southport as well as the railway station - it's a cheap way of getting to Liverpool and takes about the same amount of time as driving! Would stay there again.

It is an old building. .. but the following comments are not about that. ....
Shower door in upstairs shower room does not close properly..
The bathroom upstairs is very wobbly and not fitted properly. .
The cup in our room was cracked ..
The crockery used in the breakfast room was chipped ..cups and plates ..
The plug in the sink in room 9 didn't release the water very quickly. When you took out the plug the trap was dirty..
Televisions are relatively inexpensive. .. to use and older tv with a freeview box is quite old fashioned .
We were welcomed very warmly , but probably won't stay here again ....

This property has a great location near town, the station and the front. Benefit of parking too. The friendly proprietors serve a decent English breakfast. My room on the top floor had a private bathroom across the hall. Overall very good, though a few minor maintenance and cleanliness issues. Overall good value place to stay.
