About this bed and breakfast
This home is located in a small community in the middle of the Francis Marion Forest. Enjoy the quiet of this forest community while still being close to shopping (20 min.), Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island Beaches (30 min.), and the heart of downtown Charleston (33 min.). This home was completely remodeled and furnished with 100% new furnishings in 2017. In addition to the 1200 sq. ft. of living space this house has a 750 sq. ft. furnished screened in porch that runs the entire length of the house. The house includes tiled baths, hardwood floors throughout, a gas fireplace, and a granite counter top office station equipped with a full size computer monitor, wireless keyboard/mouse and printer. The owners live at the back of this 8 acre property and invite tenants to feed the large domestic and Japanese koi that reside in a large pond at the back of the property... not to mention the pond is also full of large mouth bass and sunfish. Tenants are welcome to fish in this pond at any time using the bait and tackle the owners have available at the property. The tenants also have access to 3 kayaks (2 touring Folbots and 1 double) that can be used on the nearby Quinby creek (5 miles North) and/or the Wando River (5 miles South) of the property. In addition, two bikes along with a car bike carrier are available. The bikes can be used to ride anywhere in the Lowcountry... the trails of the Forest, streets of historic Charleston, and/or the beach communities of Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island and Folly Beach. The owners have a bamboo fence enclosed private swimming pool that can be used by the tenants during there stay.
The pool is not heated; therefore, it is only open between May 1st and September 30th each year. This home also has a small deck off the screened-in porch that can be used to sit and relax, grill out on the gas grill or enjoy a real fire in the fire pit (wood is furnished by the owner). Last but not least, the owners own a boat (Bayliner Element xr7) that they launch on the Wando River 5 miles from the guest house. If tenants are staying on a Saturday or Sunday evening, owners may be able to take them on a sunset cruise. If a sunset cruise is of interest, guests are encouraged to let owners know as soon as possible. Owners enjoy taking guests on the water; however, cannot always guarantee availability due to personal schedules and bad weather.

There is a reason why this property is highly rated and beloved. The hosts are communicative, attentive and kind. Our family enjoyed how clean and comfortable the house is. We especially loved the large recliner in the family room and the screened in porch is fabulous!!!! We spent hours hanging out on the porch.
Outside you have your pick of activities, such as swimming, fishing, barbecuing, playing a game of soccer in the grass, etc. The wild life is gorgeous, with lizards darting around, tiny green frogs hopping about and the many different types of birds, including a wonderful gaggle of geese. The peace, quiet and beauty is just what our family needed.
We also enjoyed being close to the beach, Charleston and so much delicious bbq!! We look forward to returning to Dans la Foret Guest House.

By far, the cleanest and most pleasantly designed VRBO we've ever experienced! Brenda and Wanda are amazing hostesses. A lovely welcome bag made us smile. The cottage is compact but has every single amenity needed. The kitchen was unbelievably well-stocked. The hugemongous screen porch was a fantastic place to gather at night to listen and watch the property go to darkness each evening.

This property is perfect for those that reat real want to get awY and have peice and quite. We stayed 3 nights and never turned on the TV. We sat on the porch and watched the Geese and Swan play chase. HaHa.

The property is gorgeous and the house was very nice. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly want. The bed was very comfortable. The grill did not work well when we were there, but the owners tell us they’re going to go buy a new one today. Apparently an otter ate all but one koi. We were not able to fish because the female swan was sitting on a nest, and the male swan was guarding it. The guest bathroom bathtub was so slippery that someone in our party fell. The owners also said they were going to rectify this. Overall, I would highly recommend.

We stayed here for a baseball tournament at shipyard. It’s a close drive with no traffic to the field. Owner lives on property but wasn’t intrusive at all and was very nice. We’ll stay again if we’re ever back in the area.

My family and I stayed here for my son’s baseball team’s tournament at Shipyard Park. It’s an easy 10 minute drive from the house to the park with no traffic.
The house is updated nicely and all towels, linens and toiletries are provided. The host was very responsive and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.

Our stay was everything we had hoped it would be. The home is beautiful, the property is lovely, and it's only a short commute to Charleston. The thoughtfulness of the hosts was evident everywhere we looked--from the gift bag that greeted us, to the games, books, dog treats, K-Cups, first aid kit, etc. that outfitted the home, their desire to make our visit memorable was clear everywhere we looked. It's certainly a home we will highly recommend, and utilize again the next time we visit.

Wanda and Brenda are wonderful hosts. They are very thoughtful and went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and provide you with everything you need. They even thought of our fur babies. The home is in a wonderful location and with very relaxing surroundings. The house is super clean! I highly recommend staying here and we hope to stay here again if we are in the area.

We’ve stayed at this location several times. The host is very friendly and an excellent communicator. My son had a baseball tournament at Shipyard and the two bed/2 bath house was perfect for our family! No time on this particular visit, but last trip the kids fished in the pond on property. Fantastic hideaway location.

This was probably our fifth or sixth stay at this great location, it really has become a home away from home. It’s close enough to access all the fun things in Charleston and the surrounding area, but far enough away to relax and enjoy the quiet. The house is very well kept, the yard is pretty and full of birds (one year we watched a nest of mockingbirds go from eggs to fledgelings during our stay) and the night sky is magnificent. Can’t say enough good things, and can’t wait for the next trip back!

Perfect location for my family for our recent trip to Charleston. We enjoyed being away from the crowds. My kids were able to play in the yard which is a bonus. The kitchen is well stocked. We had everything needed and more to prepare meals. The host was exceptional- great communication. Loved the screened in back porch. I hope we can return soon!

To sum up our visit, I called at home away from home. It was perfect for our family to celebrate my son’s graduation or host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as we felt secluded from the crowds on our own little vacation property but it was also very convenient to town and not too far from the beach. We were very comfortable and felt like they had thought of everything we would need while there. Highly recommend this vacation home!

I was initially a bit nervous about having reserved a home so seemingly cut off from Charleston. But after we arrived and my girlfriend squealed that highly anticipated approval and excitement, our vacation began!
It’s a bunch of minutes from Downtown, but we really came to appreciate it. Ride was about a 35-40 min to the waterfront. But we got to witness swans, heron, egret, spring peepers, green tree frogs, green anoles, and our favorite: a parlaiment of barred owls.

We had a very busy week planned in Charleston for our vacation. It was quite relaxing coming back in the evenings to “Dans la Foret” to enjoy our comfortable home away from home in the country. The porch is simply amazing! Thank you kindly for your southern hospitality!!

Our family of 4 had the best time! Really enjoyed all the little extra personal touches like the welcome basket full of snacks, bathrobes, etc. We had fun at the pool and the peace and quiet of the property. Hosts were fantastic and responsive with everything! Would absolutely return!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was the perfect spot to visit downtown Charleston and Patriot’s Point. The property itself was exceptionally clean, quiet, and has a great screened porch for everyone to enjoy. We will definitely stay here again if we are back in the area.

The house was super clean and provided so many small things not typical which makes it seem like home even more. The owners were super attentive to any questions or requests. We enjoyed the pool and fishing which were great perks especially in the hot July summertime! I highly recommend for a unique family stay and experience!

Beautiful place, with everything you need in kitchen to cook. The beds are very comfortable and we all slept so good. Pool was beautiful but too cold for our granddaughter. She is 21 months old. My son and his fiance did have fun in the water.

Our group had the absolute pleasure of staying at Brenda and Wanda's stunning property during our participation in the Hell Hole Hundred race. The house was nothing short of fantastic, meticulously clean, well-equipped, and with a welcoming basket that made us feel instantly at home.
We took full advantage of the gorgeous estate throughout our stay. From playing frisbee golf to catching a bounty of fish in the tranquil pond, we relished every moment. The pool offered a refreshing respite ahead of a big race, and dinners on the big porch and fire under the stars gave way to wonderful evenings.
One of our favorite highlights was our warm interactions with Brenda, Wanda, and their family. Their gracious hospitality went above and beyond, making us feel like part of their community rather than just guests. Even our little pup had the time of her life scampering across the extensive grounds.
