We enjoyed our stay at this house. It's a large house with a big kitchen (with all the right pots and pans). The view of the river is pleasant, and you can kayak right from the back yard. Because the river is pretty shallow, there isn't much boat traffic and that is very peaceful! We enjoyed having a cocktail hour out on the dock every evening, watching the ospreys and pelicans fly by. We didn't try to fish but there were lots of fish jumping. The water near the dock is shallow and you can wade out a ways before it gets deep.
The location is nice if you want some peace and quiet but want to be able to get into Beaufort easily; it's a short drive. Radio Island (surf-free swimming area) is a quick drive too. We hope to come back next year!
One caveat: This house really is a fifties house--the appliances and furniture are mostly old (the fridge and washer/dryer are new). Everything works and things are in good shape; I got a nice feeling of nostalgia from it. But this might not be everyone's cup of tea.

This place was in a great location, we loved it, and will likely be back next year. Had my GF and 2 of our adult children with us. The rabbits and squirrels (one crazy squirrel did dances and hops.... I mean like olypmic quality) were great. The dock was great.
Some quirks... The back door, which is the only door we used, is badly warped and a real PITA to get to close and open. The bathrooms are NOT friendly to tall people (my son and I are both 6'6")...One shower had a entrance we couldn't use, the other had a shower head that was perfect for keeping belly buttons clean The king size bed was a bit short, normally only my toes hang off the end, on this one, my ankles and more were dangling, even with my head at the top. BUT... These were minor annoyances, the property was great.

We had a great time. We went to shackelford banks and caught fish of the dock at the rental property. To small to keep. But the kids had fun

Excellent Home base
This home is an excellent home base in a quiet neighborhood and a great place to relax after a day of exploring the area! We couldn't ask for nicer weather to enjoy the town of Beaufort, Fort Macon State Park, the aquarium, and Cape Lookout National seashore. We were fortunate to see the wild horses on Rachel Carson Reserve. Easy check in and check out and the Manager was great and is local.

Beautiful, Peaceful Getaway
Beautiful home with a wonderful view of the water. We absolutely enjoyed our stay & we hope to be able to stay there again.
The only negative comment that we can give is the sulphur smell of the water. For bathing & dishes it presented no problems. Since, however, we had read about the water's sulphur smell in a previous renter's comments, we took bottled drinking water with us.
Again, it is a beautiful, clean, well-maintained care of home with a gorgeous view.

Family Getaway
Lovely vintage property. The owners are even lovelier. We loved having a quiet getaway to swim and enjoy our family time. Exploring Beautiful Beaufort each morning and lazy afternoons swimming off the dock. It was perfect!

On the Water
This property is in a fantastic location just five minutes to restaurants and the grocery store in Beaufort. The yard is a private park-like setting with a dock on the water. My children loved going out to the dock and wading in the water. The house is about a 15 minute drive to Atlantic Beach. The house is well kept and had everything we needed. The hosts were nice and helpful.

Best Vacation 2021
We absolutely loved this home and vacation spot. The fishing was perfect even on the day's it light rained. Everyone in our family had lots of room for sleep, resting in the living room and fun time in the kitchen. The owners of the home made us feel so welcome and answered all our questions and showed us the property. They even helped us find great places to try locally. We can't wait to go back one day to this property.

New favorite vacation site
View was breathtaking upon arrival and keeps your interest. The managers/owners are close by but they are not intrusive. The house was quite comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking there. It was very quiet there. The wildlife was great. We saw dolphins 5’ from dock and skates or stingrays as my grandson called them. It’s so convenient to everything, store’s, restaurants, beach’s. We absolutely loved our time there and hope to come back soon.

Pleasant comfortable home in quiet convenient location
Located in spacious grounds far from neighbors, with a big lawn area that would be nice for a family in summer. Easy to get to many places of interest. Pleasant view over the water. Comfortable home with plenty of space. But you do have to get used to the strong sulphur smell of the tap water; bring fresh water from elsewhere to drink.

Idyllic getaway
Lovely 50s ranch with a dock and wonderful great room. Kids loved catching crabs of the dock and I loved the convenience to beaufort waterfront. Awesome property

Perfect!
We'll be back! The location was perfect - right on the bay/river, with a dock for relaxing and fishing. The house was beautiful and comfortable. We never even went to the beach or to town - just stayed at the house and property and relaxed. My tween and teen boys loved it, too.
The kitchen has all the pots and pans we needed, and it also has a Keurig for coffee. Linens are provided, games are in the closet.
There were some mosquitoes on the dock at night, but that's what you expect on the water in the summer at night.

Peaceful getaway like our own home
Lovely property cleaned very well. Great space to spread out and fully equipped for cooking (Piggly Wiggly close by for supplies), playing games, doing laundry. Swimming was great from the dock to a floating dock for jumping in. Just a few feet deep so even our young son could enjoy himself. Great for star gazing and watching the wildlife - so many bunnies, frogs, crabs, owls, an opossum. Welcoming hosts made it easy for a quiet getaway still close to the fun in Morehead City and Atlantic Beach. Highly recommended for location, privacy, space, swimming and sitting on the dock.

Love it!
The house was very clean and comfortable. We felt very much at home. We loved the location and enjoyed the convenience of being close to the waterfront without being downtown with a lot of neighbors. The owners were super folks and they made us very welcome. We will be going back for another visit.

Memorial Day weekend visit with our Marine!
The purpose of our stay was to visit our Marine over the long Memorial Day weekend. This listing was only a 30 minute drive from MCAS Cherry Point where he is stationed. This listing was exceptionally clean and it gave our family of 5 plenty of room to spread out and relax. My husband, our Marine, and our other 2 teenage boys really enjoyed wade fishing & fishing off of the pier each morning and afternoon. I enjoyed sitting on the porch swing and laying out on the pier. The location was perfect for a day trip to Atlantic Beach and a trip to the quaint town of Beaufort. I loved that the only TV was in the living/family room. I didn’t have to force the boys together each afternoon to watch a movie. I enjoyed everything about this listing. If I had to give any advice to the owners of the home at all, it would be to add more comfortable seating in the living/family room. A few ottomans to put your feet up on would make a big difference. My family enjoyed relaxing and making memories at this listing. ~Julie

Vintage Property
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The house is truly like stepping back in time but did have modern upgrades such as new fridge and a kurig coffee maker. Water is off of a well and has a distinct metallic taste that made brushing our teeth and showing unpleasant but still worth it for the great set up. Nice dock at the end of the property. We didn’t manage to catch any fish but this was probably due to the time of year (March); I expect fishing during warmer months is quite good. The owners live a few hundred yards away and were very pleasant and unobtrusive (only met them upon arriving). Should we find ourselves in this area again we’d gladly stay here.

Lovely house, close to everything
We had a wonderful time there. Carl the owner is so fridenly and helpful and showed us everything when we checked in. There is a dock in the backyard that can be used for fishing and crabing and the house has a good supply in kitchen. It's only 15 minutes drive away from Atlantic Beach. And a couple delicious resturants and a grocery store are nearby.

Relaxing and Fun!
This property had friendly hosts that we met to gain access to the house, very kind and with good knowledge of the surrounding area.
The property itself was very relaxing being on a dead-end street with only a few houses around. Very quite except for the rare airplanes taking off from nearby airport, but even then they could be tuned out.
The yards were nice for family play, and the dock although narrow, it was great to just sit at and hear the water and the wind hit you. The dock was also great to sit at and fish, lot of fish in the water to try to catch.
The house itself was very comfortable, very clean and organized, and it had EVERYTHING you need except for food (which you could shop for in nearby store or restaurants). Maybe you need matches and charcoal if you choose to grill.
If we visit the area again, we'd definitely stay here again.

The owners were great to show us around the house and share information about the area. The lay out of the house allowed everyone to have their own personal space. Having a dock for my sons to fish from was awesome! We definitely recommend this property! We hope to return again!
