Lovely old Inn with friendly hosts, room was well appointed, modern, clean with good facilities. Excellent food both evening meals and breakfast and good range of local ales. Packed lunch option was great value. Lovely scenic location.

No faults at all

Very warm welcome from Shelley and her friendly team throughout the stay. Rooms were clean, comfortable and shower was suitably hot after a cold wet walk! Was very nice to have a drink in the bar (with fire roaring) amongst friendly locals and other guests, before an excellent dinner. We’d looked at the menu beforehand so had some idea what to expect but food really wowed - seasonal freshly cooked and imaginative. Was spoiled for choice, and good beers and wines as well. Breakfast equally good. 4 legged companion also warmly welcomed throughout, in the room for small supplement, and in bar and restaurant. Will happily come back to the Fox & Hounds.

Excellent location, quiet room, clean and comfortable, good wifi, good food and drink, log fire, friendly helpful staff, we would stay here again.

Spotless and perfectly presented rooms. The team made us feel very welcome. Food was delicious and a great selection of beers and wine to go with it. Breakfast was 10/10 quality.

Cosy dales inn with bags of character - good rooms and great food - the pie was superb. There is a nice outside seating area at the front with views over the dales and the inside bar with good beer and a real fire was a great place to unwind after a days walking

Don't normally stay in pubs but the reviews for this one looked good so took a chance. Wasn't disappointed. Staff very friendly, room very clean and newly decorated to a high standard. Food was also very good and reasonably priced. Starbotton is a lovely location.

The hotel emailed me about booking a table for dinner which we did, they get busy on Saturday evenings. We had a fabulous meal and a lovely breakfast the next morning. Our room was comfortable and plenty of hot water for showers Friendly staff

Lovely kind staff, nice location, good breakfast and dinner. new ensuite bathroom.

Bed was far too soft for us, also a bit of old damp smell in bedroom.

The people were very friendly. The chef made a delicious lentil shepherds pie with greens which was delicious. And the room was exceptional.

Nothing to not like

The pub has a wonderful atmosphere and is everything you expect a rural Dales pub to look like downstairs. Very friendly greeting on our arrival and taken to our room which was fabulous. Recently refurbished with a modern/traditional style, bright and airy with a fabulous bathroom and huge walk in shower. Very comfy beds with lovely fresh smelling pillows. We ate the chicken supreme at dinner which was worthy of a Michelin star! Best meal I’ve ever had in the Dales. Breakfast was also delicious. We had a great nights sleep with no noise heard from the pub. Great views all round too. Superb value for money. Thank you Karen and Ian.
