Price included breakfast but was only a very poor continental one. Small hard pastries, questionable meat slices.
Bar didn’t serve alcohol. Restaurant wasn’t operating. Grubby room with flaking paint and terrible mattresses

The hotel itself was full of charm and character. The location was great and it was steeped with history which we loved hearing about. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they made our stay most enjoyable. We had the evening meal there on Saturday which was absolutely delicious - all four meals were lovely and credit to the Chef Malcolm who did us proud. The setting was really peaceful and we made use of the garden at the back, particularly with our dogs who enjoyed a little run round there.
Maurice made sure that everything ran like clockwork and the night porters looked after us with extra teabags in the evening!
We all enjoyed it very much: my mum, dad and daughter. We loved hearing about the history of the place the detailed architecture and olde world charm is still there.
The rooms were very spacious. Ours was particularly light and airy. The bathrooms were fine too, basically having everything we needed.
I guess mainly some of the dining could be improved a little… It would’ve been nice to have a cooked breakfast on offer. I can’t recall Booking.com saying it was only a continental breakfast, however it was satisfactory.
We would also have liked to be able to get a bite to eat or lunch when we arrived after a long journey. But food only seemed available on a Saturday evening and I understand it’s not worth having a chef there if only a few people want to eat during the day.
I was surprised that alcohol wasn’t served but it was great that we could bring our own. Soft drinks weren’t available at the bar on Friday evening either as it seemed to be shut, which was a shame, or even a coffee/tea/afternoon tea would have been nice.
Booking.com and the leaflet we picked up there don’t mention the above, so it may be worth updating literature so guests’ expectations can be met.

Although a beautiful old building the bedroom had been refurbished in a modern style
The front of house lovely lady who also served us at breakfast went above and beyond to accommodate us. Freshly baked pastries when they had run low

The lady on reception (and also serving at breakfast) was lovely and super helpful. The public areas of the hotel are very grand. Lovely view of the garden from room 5. Nice breakfast.
Room was a bit like a cell with no pictures or anything on the walls, dated bathroom.

The staff were amazing , couldn't fault them atall, so attentive and helpful. Room was lovely and clean and beds were comfortable. The hotel it's self was so beautiful. Depending on breakfast options we would definitely come again .
Such ashame as the breakfast I saw online was a full English breakfast and we didn't get that . I don't like smoked food and we got smoked turkey bacon and am unsure of what the sausages were but both were inedible. I get the feeling from reading recent reviews it is due to the new owners religious views but I think it should be more about the customers choice . I could only really eat the eggs toast and mushrooms and the rest went back for the bin.
Tv in the room would not tune in but it was too late to get someone to fix .

Location
No food in the evening being served.
Room was not clean. Bathroom was dated with no blind on the window. (Ground floor). Room was cold. Room next door had a dog in it……barking. Breakfast was not served before 7.00am and had to leave before then.

Ontbijt zeer goed en een heerlijke rustige lokatie
Verkoop van het hotel tijdens ons verblijf en om die reden geen avondmaal gelegenheid meer

This place has fallen off a cliff in recent days. The basic building and rooms are fine. The staff do their best - but the new owners have wrecked it. They probably broke some laws concerning employment at least. Overnight they removed all alcohol, as other reviewers have said. The surviving staff were left facing the outrage. The atmosphere was very bad.
The breakfast was fine.
Disappointing revisit. I used to love this place. It is now going to become a B&B, apparently. It has been destroyed, essentially.

Original features
Great parking
Lovely quaint garden
Our room didn’t have a window apart from velum on ceiling as we were in the loft room

The staff were lovely and helpful, very friendly and genuinely lovely people. The breakfast was nice, good options and conscious of food allergies by removing allergens. Very good value for money and a comfortable stay.
It would be nice to see alternative options for food allergies for example gluten free bread but the breakfast was very nice.

Car park right outside main entrance
First impression of Oakwood Hall was amazing
Public areas were clean and attractive
The beds were ok
Breakfast was good
Staff were very nice but not many of them.
We were in the attic and had to climb lots of stairs with a heavy suitcase.
The room was shabby and was in desperate need of attention. Poor decoration, lots of cobwebs, old distressed furniture, carpets need cleaning if not replacing. The bathroom was terrible, it needed a deep clean and the shower tray was taped up with gaffer tape to hold it together!! Even then there was a sharp piece of plastic sticking out. Toilet roll holder was manky.
The window surround was in a terrible state and the window it's self was although very decrotive was small and the opener was not sufficient to let fresh air into a stuffy room.

The staff where a credit to the hotel so polite and helpful I would definitely go back
Nothing everything I was fine

Lovely surroundings, friendly staff, spacious room and a very comfortable bed.
Missed entrance as we arrived late in the evening, wasn't easy to spot.

Beautiful location. Good restaurant with friendly service.

Our room was lovely and quirky. Spotlessly clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included with a great range of choice and was very good. We had an evening meal our first night at the property and it was delicious.
Just lacks a little atmosphere
3.8
Nice old-world feel
Some mould on window sills in our room but reception very apologetic when we pointed it out and said it was a common problem in winter and they were going from room to room cleaning it off again at the moment
3.8
The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable.

Varied - no fruit at first breakfast - second day better - smoked salmon & scrambled agg better than full cooked.
Characterful = late Victorian textile merchant's house Obliging staff. Quiet location
Plumbing - gave up in trying to run enough water for a bath Also (for guests in their eighth decade)no lift - 39 stairs to top floor)

The location was perfect for us to visit Bingley and the hotel is beautiful. The public areas and our room were clean, although furniture isn’t moved to clean behind. Lisa, who served breakfast and dealt with reception, was lovely.
We upgraded to a superior room expecting either a super king bed or four poster in a large room as advertised, but on arrival we were allocated what I would class as a normal double with shower. When we queried if it was a superior room, I was told it was (very rudely by the man on reception) but I would have classed it as an average room with just enough space to get round the bed.
The choice at breakfast was good, enough choice without overkill and the waitress was happy to bring you anything needed. Sadly the bacon was over over cooked and dry, beans over microwaved, and the chef should either learn how to poach an egg or stop offering them on the menu.

Lady at reception seems to do most of the areas reception restaurant and complaints
Room was cold and changed room radiator still didn't work was given a heater

Beautiful building, large bedroom with great wooden beams and lovely views. Reception staff was 1st class.
the full English breakfast on the first morning left a lot to be desired, albeit there was an improvement on the 2nd day.
The central heating was not up to scratch as it was a cold couple of days. The shower is pathetic. Furniture looked a little faded and tired . Reception and breakfast lady was excellent but I think the hotel has had better times. The gardens are tiny for such a grand house.

For us it was a little luxury anniversary weekend and it delivered on all fronts. We didn't have dinner there as we'd made prior arrangements but we had a drink in the garden and lounge and then breakfast the next morning. Really lovely. The whole stay was really comfortable and enjoyable.
Not applicable though satnav is helpful to find the property.

The property was lovely location was good bar staff and restaurant staff were pleasant
we were given what was probably the shabbiest room in the hotel the toilet didn’t flush properly there was dust the curtains were ripped the bed was not comfortable and the bed linen was old.
3.8
The restaurant was closed for dinner due to a private function. We didn't know this when we booked so had to travel to a local restaurant for dinner. The staff were extremely polite and apologetic, but it was still an inconvenience.
