We really enjoyed this cottage holiday. Our only difficulty was with the poor visibility of driveway at road and the pathway to the cottage. It was a combination of stairs and gravel and was treacherous for our aged father. Once in the cottage however, everything was lovely.

A stunning cottage by the water, close to trails and the city of Halifax, this gem of a cottage has everything you need to relax and explore the sceneries around Prospect Bay. Janice was responsive and provided great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. We will be coming back for sure l

A great place to relax. Cute cottage with all the required features. A beautiful dock. Access to Halifax and Peggy's Cove in a short drive. The owner reached out to see if everything was ok and to check we had everything we needed.

Really enjoyed our stay. Great to have our tea/coffee on the dock each morning…so quiet and relaxing. Nice to come back to the cozy cottage after a day of sightseeing. Location was perfect…close to a number of attractions (Peggy’s Cove, Polly Cove, Halifax). Kitchen was well-stocked with pots/pans and dishes. Janice was very helpful and always timely in her responses. Some things to note: challenging to locate parking pad, parking pad is small…it was a bit of a tight squeeze with our Ford SUV. Steps down to cottage quite slippery when wet. Thanks Janice for making our stay wonderful!

The dock at the cottage is superb! Enjoy a cup of coffee watching boats pass by. The cottage is well equipped and we had no problems coming from out of province. If it is cold you will want to know how to light the stove. The 3 bedrooms are small but adequate. Living room has a big TV. A peaceful location outside of Halifax. I now have dock envy!

Property was beautiful. It was an extremely cool week , going as low as 8C at night for June 20th-27th. Only means of heating place was a small stove in dining/living room. Had to buy wood as we burned through their supply within one night. Love the fact that the weather was cool enough that outdoor activities were enjoyable. Janice and Dan are super friendly and easy to deal with. Thanks J for always answering texts within a fast time frame.

This cottage is well located for day trips along the coast to Lunenburg, or nearby attractions like Peggy's Cove, the Flight 111 Memorial, and others, and less than 1/2 hour into Halifax. Very scenic area. The cottage was really well equipped and truly comfortable as a cottage should be.

The home is in a lovely spot and our host was nothing but completely gracious in answering questions and helping us resolve an issue. Thank you!

Lovely waterfront and property.Cottage was reasonably equipped. On arrival, cottage cleanliness was not acceptable. Particularly the kitchen. Beds very comfortable. Cottage access was difficult as many stairs to descend down a steep hill. Overall property location, upkeep was excellent. Would definitely stay again

We had a great time here. The cottage is somewhat rustic but pleasant, with a nice living area and lots of windows. While small, the bedrooms were comfy and clean. The waterfront and wharf are a great place to spend time on. The location is great, close to the city, but also near a beach, great coastal trails and nice lake swimming. Janice was responsive and attentive. We would go back.

Wonderful cottage nestled in the woods. The wharf was great for jumping off to go swimming! The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you need - a home away from home! Janice and Don were readily available and very friendly and accommodating.

We had such a wonderful family time. Wonderful privacy, beautiful dock and water, peaceful, lovely eating area on deck, great fire pit, typical cottage with more room outside than inside…but more than adequate. GREAT owner to deal with. Our (well trained) dog was able to roam freely…constantly in and out of the water. Close access to groceries, liquor store and close to Halifax. We had an AMAZING time 👍🏻😊

Quaint cottage under a half hour to the city. Tucked away in the trees it is a rustic getaway. Right on the water. There were lots of cool crabs and a few starfish to spot on the shore. Ideal to a couple's getaway or for family with older children. There are many stairs on a hill needed to get to the cottage, but it is well lit at night and is nicely tucked in the trees. We enjoyed peaceful fires in the firepit.

Originally intended for isolation, but were able to get out and about and enjoy the area because of changes in COVID restrictions. Kind and helpful host with excellent communications.

A very conveniently located property. The property is right on the water and a small yard for a fire, nestled in the woods. Because it is so beautifully nestled in the woods there are quite a few steps and a hill that leads down to the cottage so this is not for someone who has any mobility issues. It feels like you are deep in the woods. The water was warmer than I expected and the crabs and starfish were daily entertainment for the children. There is a local convenience that is a short walk or 1 minute drive away and this was very helpful for getting a few things while being able to not disrupt the vacation experience. The cottage is cozy and rustic. It was perfect for a cottage feel vs. a home feel. It was relaxing as a family. The neighbours even stopped by via kayak to say hi to us while we are sitting on the dock. We went in the water every day for a swim. If you want a relaxing getaway close to Halifax this is great to unwind.

We enjoyed our stay so much! The location was perfect for getting everywhere we wanted to see, and the property itself is just beautiful! Would go back in a heartbeat!

This is a beautiful setting for a cottage. The view is amazing and so close to so many great things to see. My family enjoyed their stay.

We had a problem with the address. The on-line address was 462 and it really was 450. The owner didn't seem to care. Said well I guess your here now...not a great response. Kitchen counter was not clean and the Matt in the bathroom had fungus on it. Some of the dishes and pots needed cleaning before we could use them. The bedroom was small that a double bed filled it. Really hard for two people to sleep in. On the plus side the cottage was clean and location pretty. The dock was nice and easy to swim off of. The coaches were comfy and the TV and wifi were great. We even had Netflix's. Also the grill was good. Lots of hot water. Private grounds and great area. Halifax and Peggy's Cove nearby. Lots of nice places to walk and restaurants to eat at. We enjoyed our stay but with a little more attention to detail it would have been perfect.

Loved the location of the cottage, secluded and peaceful. So much to do and see in the surrounding area. Everyone we met were pleasant and helpful.

We enjoyed the cottage. Things we would have liked more info about on the booking parking and the 24 steps with path down to the cottage. People with mobility issues need to know before booking. I use a cane but was able to get up and down the path. No walkin beach access. We really had wanted that and thought from the listing that the cottage offered it. The double bed up against the wall was hard for a couple to use and bunkbeds do not work for 2 adults.

We had a comfortable stay in the property and enjoyed its beautiful and quiet location on Prospect Bay. The hosts were friendly and attentive and answered any queries we had promptly. We also appreciated that things like the cooker and shower worked well and there always plenty of hot water which is not always the case in rentals. When choosing rental properties from an online source, it is useful to have photographs of every room and the facilities available. The kitchen and bathroom were not shown for this property and that would have been helpful in making our property decision. While the host provided plenty of trash recepticles and information about separating trash for collection, there was no place outdoors to remove trash to until collection day and keeping it in the kitchen was not ideal as the weather was hot and it began to smell even in the lidded bins. An animal secure store outdoors would greatly help maintain good kitchen hygiene.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time here. The cottage is in a beautiful and convenient location close to Halifax and Peggy’s Cove. We were able to spend a day in Halifax, see a sunrise at Peggy’s Cove, and travel easily to Lunenburg. We had a hot water problem which was immediately and kindly dealt with by the hosts. Having three bedrooms was so much appreciated by our teenagers. We didn’t think we’d need the woodstove, but it was perfect for taking the chill off when we had a rainy June day. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for preparing meals. There is definitely a “cottage” feel to the property - it is not luxurious, but is perfectly comfortable. It was too chilly to even think about swimming, but the dock was wonderful for an early evening glass of wine!

Cozy cottage on the bay that is in easy reach of Halifax, Peggys Cove, and Lunenburg. Nice view of the water from the dock. Excellent internet access.

We enjoyed our stay here. This quaint cottage on the water was so relaxing. Most mornings we had our coffee out on the deck or better yet down by the water. We had restful nights on the comfy beds. Janice got back to me quickly with any questions I had. If we have the chance to return to the Halifax area we would definitely stay here again! 🙂 Of note anyone with mobility issues this would not be the place for you- several stairs down to the cottage and a sloping path to get down to the water.

If you are looking for for a quiet, quant little cottage experience, this is it. The location is perfectly in the middle of many desirable attractions. Sitting in the sun on the water started each day with relaxation. Lovely place.

Perfect little cottage for our family of four. Enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of a city. Relaxing and quiet. We fished off the dock for mackerel. Had a bonfire several times. Loved the view from the dock. Just right for us.

We stayed for six night at the cottage starting July 30th,, my self, my wife and two granddaughters. We arrived 6:30pm on Sunday night and the with owner Janice instructions and the GPS we had no problem finding the cottage. The first thing you will notice is the parking, your parking spot is at top of large very private lot which is great, what isn't so great is the three set of stairs and walks ways to get down to the cottage which is in the centre of the lot. The unloading and loading of a family of four was not much fun with the stairs involved. This by far is my only major criticism of the cottage, anyone with mobility issues should book elsewhere. I need a knee replacement so the stairs were a challenge and the sloped property was an issue for me the entire week even with a knee brace and a cane. The cottage is large with a small cubby hole bedroom with bunk beds, the other two bedrooms were cottage size bedrooms. The water pressure is not the greatest even by cottage standards but overall the only other complaint would be no SAT TV and when you did watch the DVD an audio buzz every few seconds but we didn't rent a cottage to watch TV although I did miss watching the nightly news. They had a nice fire pit and I bought firewood as the wood they had was punky. The view from dock was amazing and the kids fished and even swam in the ocean. Overall we had a great time and used the cottage as a base for our daily trips and had a fire every night and my morning coffee on the dock every day. The girls loved when the tide was out and explored the shoreline. A general store was a 2 minute drive away that sold liquor and beer and the drive into a grocery store in Halifax was about 20 minutes away. The cottage was close to Peggy's Cove as well. The owner Janice addressed the few issues we had and overall we had a Great Time. Just make sure you have good knees and the cottage should be good for you.

Had everything we needed with a beautiful View. Great location and just a car ride away from major tourist attractions!! Memorable time!!!
