Beautiful location though challenging to get to…. Well stocked with amenities

The house was perfect, and clean. woody and Joan were great communicators and the property was just the right size for 12 people. The only complaint the we had was the trek through the driveway was a little unexpected! Even with the directions it took a couple tries to get comfortable. Please go slow, some of the potholes are deeper than they look. Also pay attention to the weather. There are a few spots that end up being more mud than gravel. Also due to the house being on its own wells and septic the water smells a little sulfury, but nothing that’s unexpected or uncomfortable. Overall the property was great, the hosts were great and we would love to come back again!

For the first time in 20 years, I was able to get all four of our kids and several grandkids together in one place at one time. Overall, the place was wonderful and provided us with a great Christmas gathering. The views are amazing. The biggest problem was with the "queen bed" in the office. It is a fold out sofa that does not support the mattress. Our 31-year-old son and his wife used that room and had a terrible first night after a very long drive. They didn't want to say anything at first, but when he did, I was shocked at the condition of the fold out sofa. The mattress does not stay up in the frame at the end. The next night, we tried the air beds found in one of the closets. The queen size air bed did not hold air at all. We left a note on this bed so the maintenance people could get it replaced before anyone else tried to use it. There were two camper style air beds that needed some special attachment to inflate, but there was no attachment with them. They ended up sleeping on the floor. The other issue was with the main level TV. We put some batteries in one of the remotes and were able to turn the TV on and off and one of the kids figured out how to change channels, but there was no way to change the volume. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this VRBO. The rooms are spacious and other than the office, the beds were fine. The property was very clean. The kitchen was large enough for several cooks to work at once. The road is passible.

This is the second time that my group of friends has stayed in this cabin over New Year’s. We’ve come back because the place is great. The view is amazing. There were 3 families. There was plenty of room for all the kids. 4 families would fit as long as kids can share rooms. We had young children , so that was difficult. The kitchen is fully stocked and has lots of counter space. Everything worked the way it should. The only tough part is the drive up. However, the owners gave very specific instructions, and once you’ve done it there’s no problem. I would recommend getting there in the daylight for a first time. If you’re looking for a great view in a house that can hold up to 4 families then this is your place!

Great cabin, wish the hot tub had water in it. Will probably rent again in the future.

The views were the best part. I couldn't stop taken pictures. Plenty of room for everyone. Everything you need. The road is a little tight. Just hope you don't meet anyone coming the other way. Woth the journey for the privacy and the views though.

Enjoyed stay. Nice cabin. A little too remote for our group. Hr+ drive to golf courses. Blowhole rd interesting.

Family reunion made perfect in this beautiful home! Breathtaking vistas and every comfort. Tranquil with plenty of games and space for the kids.

Perfect space for our group! Kitchen was functional for the size of our group, bedroom layout was great for multiple families, everyone enjoyed the game room/bar and the multiple outdoor seating arrangements. The space was extremely clean knowing pets are regularly visiting. Very pleased with the fact that paper products and all linens were provided. Gorgeous view all day, but perfect sunrises and sunsets. Extremely happy with this property and with the communication from the host! Will definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week together at Riversky. We did have some issues with the A/C early on but were able to fix the problem while the owners wait fora part for a permanent fix. The view just can’t be beat!! Watching the fog roll in and out over the mountains was incredible!!

Perfect place to go to get away for a few days. Great views from the deck, plenty of space inside and things to do in the area. Would recommend!

Quiet, great view. Lovely and spacious home. Many nooks for alone time. Teens loved it. Lots of outdoor patio time. Marshall is quaint.

Such a beautiful place! Our family vacation was amazing, they had almost everything we could need just in the cabin alone! Our family loved it and it was just enough space for everyone to spread out and enjoy our time together. I will say the road up there isn’t as bad as some made it seem but it was super fun using/looking for the “landmarks” provided from owners with the kids to help us make our way up! I will say my only complaint would be some of the blinds had clumped up bugs stuck in webs on them when rolled up but I honestly wouldn’t think anything of it because you’re in the mountains were bugs are natural to gather. Super easy and thankful for the communication with Joan and my kids loved the cabin so much they wanted to leave them a note and it was so sweet of them to respond to it. Most definitely will be returning again. This cabin will always hold a special place in our families hearts!

Pros: Large house, hot tub worked well, somewhat secluded, large kitchen, nice deck space , plenty of bedrooms/ bathrooms, two washer/ dryer sets Cons: Outside grill needs to be discarded- it was almost unusable Disappointed with note telling us not to use the wood-burning fireplace - no reason given Directions to house cumbersome- too many extraneous details

We had a large group of friends with kids and dogs really enjoyed the private space and scenery of his home. The house was incredible and very spacious for everyone to fit. It was great to let the kids and dogs roam out front and not go too far from us.

What a great place with amazing views we loved it. The cabin is so cozy and peaceful. Joan was so easy to communicate with when you needed her for anything. We will definitely be back.

The home was perfect for a large family gathering. Plenty of space throughout and the downstairs entertainment room was a nice area for the kids to hangout. The owners are very pleasant and quick to respond with any questions we had. We will definitely consider this home again in our future travel plans.

If you're looking to get away from town and enjoy the peace of the trees and mountains this is an excellent space. The views are great and when the house is quiet you can even hear the rushing water far below in the river. The space is pretty big, furnishing is much better than average for a rental and the kitchen is especially well equipped for a rental. Also pets are allowed for a fee. If you do rent it, please treat it well and leave it in great shape because I am likely to go back! :)

A perfect, quiet place to spend our annual college friend reunion.

We enjoyed our first stay so much we came back with friends. Beautiful house with amazing views.

Our family of 15 (8 adults and 7 children) just spent a glorious weekend at this extraordinary mountain home. It was clean, well-stocked with anything we might need, absolutely beautiful inside and out. The view is magnificent and every room is comfortable and welcoming. We had one of the best family gatherings that we have ever had! The tricky part is the road leading to the house..it’s a bit challenging, but the owners provide very detailed instructions and once you do are familiar with it, it not an issue at all. We hope to return to this property in the future. It’s a beautiful home in a fabulous location.

Property was top notch inside and out. Best equipped kitchen, bath rooms and other amenities of any of the many properties we have rented over the years. Secluded and off the beaten path, but with restaurants, shops and other stores a short drive away. Easy access to Asheville in about 40 minutes, give or take. Would definitely recommend.

Joan was a very helpful and responsive host. The house is beautiful. The interior could use some minor updating/repairs. Beautiful location!

Property fit all our needs for a family getaway

We had a great time here at the cabin, went horseback riding at Sandy Bottom Trail Rides in Marshall, hiked 5 miles at Black Balsam Knob (followed by going to the natural water slide at Sliding Rock) and then mountain biked the 3rd day. Lots of great outdoors activities around here. This is pretty remote, so everything is a bit of a drive, but we wanted a cabin in the mountains that was large enough for 3 families and this worked great. Loved the downstairs with pool table and bar area.

This was the first time for all 3 generations (ages 16 to 81) of my immediate family to get together & I can’t think of a better place than River Sky Lodge. We had beautiful weather & spent our evenings overlooking the French Broad River as we had cocktails & dinner. The amenities were even better than described, although we never tried the hot tub because the weather was so warm. I highly recommend this property & encourage all visitors to arrive in vehicles with all wheel drive.

Very nice location and views. Driveway access is a little scary when you are used to driving flat roads in Louisiana. The property was large enough for our family of 11. We enjoyed hiking in the mountains around the area. We were unable to find the path to the railroad tracks and river. Communication with Joan was very easy and she worked with us after we went thru Hurricane Ida. The family enjoyed the cabin and amenities. Thanks, Eric

This is now my second time staying at Riversky Lodge and somehow it was better than the first time which I cannot fathom how that is possible. This will be a VRBO that I plan on coming back to with friends and family for the remainder of my life. I honestly wish more people don’t know about it because I want it all to myself and have the availability to book whenever. In all seriousness, if you are looking for a remote location that provides a beautiful view and no distractions to the real world, this is the place for you. The hosts are incredible too, thank you for sharing your dream with me!

It is certainly an adventure getting out to the property, but we were well prepared for it by the owners. Great stay overall!
