Cozy Cottage at the Flying Caballos Ranch

This is a unique place to stay, quiet and out of the way. The listing should say that it is for 2, instead of 2-4, however. There is only one bed and the pullout couch was broken.

This studio is just what a single woman needs for a tranquil getaway. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen has a stove, oven, and refrigerator. The windows are updated and easy to open and close. A view of hills and vineyards in the distance can be seen while in bed. Beautiful country setting and easy driving distance to downtown SLO.

Adorable little farmhouse studio, close to the airport that was so much nicer to stay at than a hotel. Sarah was a pleasant, responsive host and greeted us when we pulled in. Would definitely stay here again, when we’re back in SLO!

Nice cottage in a great location. Has the potential to be a real 5 star location, but with our experience of “fighting” with ants daily and the run down condition of a few of the items in the room, we can’t say we had a 5 star experience.
The property manger was responsive in telling us where to find ant spray and dropped off ant bait traps per my request (didn’t want to spray chemicals with our young children and dog on this trip). That said, every day of our 4night/5day trip was a battle with the ants, as they were coming from a new location (primarily the bathroom and one window/sill). She also indicated that this issue happened in the hotter months, but telling me after I get to the property instead of putting this information in the original post on the VRBO site for the property is not the best way to communicate this issue (in my opinion).
That said, the location of the property was great to be able to enjoy SLO and the surrounding area (highly recommended the Zip Lining in Santa Margarita). The space was ample for our family of 4 and our dog to still make the best of it. The cottage and overall property have a lot of charm and if it get a little TLC it would definitely be back to its 5 star potential

The Flying Caballos Guest Ranch in SLO is magnificently peaceful, and while it is conveniently close to town the property feels like a remote pastoral hide-away. Classic Central California!

The cottage was a perfect place for us! Our dog loved the fenced yard, we had an adorable spot to relax after adventures in SLO and the view is breathtaking! Very convenient to downtown. Will stay here again when visiting my son at school.

We enjoyed our stay at the studio. The unit was very clean, with a beautiful view, and dog friendly! It would be better to stay in one of the larger units for a long stay since the kitchen in the studio is very limited, lacking a microwave. Although the yard is fenced, a determined dog could easily escape, especially when he sees all the tempting ground squirrels!

Everything was great. Well represented accomodation. Views were a plus! We showed up after dark and it was a little hard to find.

Wide Open Spaces
My husband and I have wanted to take a much needed getaway since the beginning of the year and The Flying Caballos Ranch did not disappoint. Quite, beautiful vistas, dog friendly and more. The property manager Sarah was lovely, a very good communicator, and delightful to deal with. The bed was comfy with crisp linens, comfy pillows and fluffy towels. My eyes would never tire of the views from our window every morning or afternoon and if my dogs could talk they would be begging to be taken back. It was a pleasure staying at this beautiful property. A little slice of heaven and food for the soul. Nothing like wide open spaces to calm the spirit. There is a beautiful new barn on the property that makes me want to get married to my husband of 38 years all over again!

The Perfect Escape
We stayed in the cottage at this ranch for an anniversary getaway and it was everything we were looking for and more! The cottage is so cute and quaint with a ton of natural light and it's own little fenced in yard on an incredible property. It was unreal! It's nothing but views of rolling hills and open fields and vineyards. The kitchen is small but fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay, and communication with the host was easy when needed. It felt like a wonderful escape, but was still so close to stores and bars in town if we needed anything. It's right near a bunch of wine tasting as well! I very highly recommend this spot for any little vacation!

A little piece of nirvana in San Luis Obispo
I stayed at the Flying Caballos Guest Ranch Cottage for three nights this past week/weekend. This was my second time in SLO and I am so thrilled I was able to stay at Flying Caballos. Wish I had found them the first time I was in SLO, it would have made a huge difference in my stay. The Cottage was everything and more! The views from the cottage and from the porch were nothing short of spectacular. We were able to see gorgeous sunsets and awe-inspiring sunsets- yes, I jumped out of bed- in my p.j.'s and ran outside to capture the rapture of the sunrise. The cottage was everything as described and more- quiet, picturesque, and relaxing. The bed and the fold out couch were very comfortable and the bathroom and shower were great as well. We did most of our own cooking so the kitchen was of max importance to us. It was wonderful to sit at the table by the window and partake in eating while watching the beauty of the outdoors. The ranch is within 10 minutes - at the most- from downtown SLO, minutes from a major supermarket and other amenities, and a few minutes from a natural food store as well. The location is central to all the things you might want to do while in SLO and its vicinity. The owner/manager have put together a comprehensive book of things to do and places to go. Do not miss the Farmers' Markets in the area, especially Thursday evening in downtown SLO. I cannot wait to go back to SLO and stay at the Cottage again.

I could live here!
I recently stayed at the Flying Caballeros guest house and found it to be just exactly what I was looking for. Located in the foothills of SLO it was supremely quiet and relaxing. The studio is well maintained and the amenities were above average. Each of the two houses have their own fenced yards with nice grass and beautiful plantings which my dog very much appreciated. I would love to live here!
