The young man in the breakfast room was efficient and polite and the bed was very comfortable
The older lady who should have been assisting in the breakfast service stood talking to a an individual guest for most of the time we were dining meaning that things like bread and bacon were allowed to run out so guests had to wait and ask. Also, really peeved at having to pay £10 for parking on top of a £179 room. Reception staff were brusque and did not explain that it was because we had booked through Booking.com they just said “if you have parked you have to pay it”. Also, our bathroom was tired and damaged with what looked like a kicked hole in the back of the door and chipped and broken architrave around the door.

Hotel itself is lovely. I always stay here. Lovely grounds. Breakfast is also great Nice bar downstairs
The iron was leaking I got another one which had stuff burnt on it and it then stuck to my dress 😦. I did receive a 3rd one which was ok

Being woken at 3am but cars honking and music blaring. There seemed to be some sort of club on the side of the hotel and the noise they made when it finished was terrible

The beds were comfy and the room was very clean. Really good sized room with a sofa and seating area. The bathroom was very clean, although no ventilation.
Parking was a nightmare on arrival, due to an event being held at the venue (which we later understood to be a wake) - and there was no ability to reserve parking for hotel guests - leaving us no choice but to park over 5-minute walk away with suitcases. There were ~100 people stood in and around the carpark and venue grounds due to the wake, a significant number of whom were smoking canabis. We did bring this up to the hotel staff on check in, with the gentleman behind the desk not seeming to be very interested. Windows had been left wide open on arrival to the room, which was then ice-cold.

We've stayed here many times.
Love the size of the rooms and the hearty breakfasts with lots of choice.
The fab staff, some of whom have been there more than a few years. All the managers, reception, bar, dining room and chamber maid staff we have met have been good. The garden, so nice to have so much greenery around.
A short bus or taxi ride to the tube if you want to go into town.
No fridges or thermostats in rooms. This is a listed building and I know this has made some more "usual" installations difficult.

Access to the rooms is terrible. You have to take TWO lifts just to get to the third floor.

cobwebs in the corners in the bathroom, wife nearly scalding herself, because the shower mixer taps didn't work, and the worst of all, the daughter-in-law staying in another room awake with a sick daughter, witnessing a plug on a fan burst into flames, very lucky she was awake

The waiter forgot to come vs k to me to advise if they had any oat milk at breakfast. He just left me wondering.

Starting to show its age in the corridors and rooms especially the carpets etc used as a venue allot I think and it shows

There is no air conditioning in the room, it was very hot and uncomfortable. The check in was meant to be at 15:00 but the room was not ready and consequently available at 15:40pm which is inconvenient. Opening the window caused another issue which were letting in bugs into the room and there's no netting on the window. This caused some uncomfortable bites in the night. Staff were not helpful and disorganised.

Really old facilities, old furniture and not really well looked after. Overall poor looking. Pictures must be really edited as it doesn’t look any similar.
Rooms are not well isolated so any noise in the corredor or next room is heard.
Really poor breakfast for a 4 star hotel.

The location was easy to find good car park even though some people parked really stupid. The breakfast was good and staff pleasant.
The only thing is that hotel needs to modernise the rooms. The decor needs to start with new carpet.

Bathroom was very tiny and toilet seat was broken. Dinner menu was expensive for the quantity of food served.
