1 star out of 5 Terrible experience - didn't even get to stay! I had a reservation at this property, but the host's unprofessional behavior prevented me from staying. They demanded an advance payment days before my scheduled arrival, which goes against Booking.com's policies. When I refused, they threatened to give my room away. Despite explaining that I'd pay at the property as per the standard policy, the host kept insisting on advance payment. I ended up not visiting due to this sketchy behavior. Avoid this place if you don't want your travel plans ruined at the last minute. The host clearly doesn't respect Booking.com's policies or their guests. Very disappointing and stressful experience overall.

Los dueños fueron muy amables. Nos vinieron a recoger a la estación de tren y nos prepararon el desayuno para llevar al día siguiente para que pudiéramos ir a disfrutar de las vistas a las plantaciones de te al amanecer. Antes de marcharnos nos prepararon café y nos llevaron nuevamente a la estación. La habitación era sencilla y debido a la zona había bastante humedad, pero estaba limpia y la cama era cómoda y con mosquitera.

We enjoyed staying here as it was a little out town and away from the noise. Rooms with a balcony look out towards a small temple and the valley and hills beyond and are the balcony is a good place to air out and dry washing in the sun. Raheem and Razmiya listened to our plans and helped make them happen, including seeing a leopard that was a bit too close for comfort at Horton Plains. They asked what we would like to try for breakfast and dinner and went out of their way to find special vegetables as well as mi kiri (buffalo curd). We enjoyed having general conversations about life and Sri Lanka. You can walk to Adisham monastery from here and then continue on to Idalgashinna Station on the forest track and go back to Haputhale by train. Other popular walks from Lipton’s Seat and at Horton Plains can be arranged by tuk tuk at a good price

Our second visit to Lilly Guest Inn was as good as our first, eight years ago. Rahim and Razmiya are wonderful, helpful hosts who go above and beyond to make sure their guests are comfortable. Breakfasts and dinner are delicious and varied, the bedrooms and bathrooms are spotless and the beds super comfortable. They will organise early starts to Lipton's seat etc, providing a tuk tuk and packed breakfast. A special mention to their safe, courteous and obliging tuk tuk driver Mahindra for whom nothing was too much trouble on our trips to local waterfalls etc. . Sri Lankan hospitality at it's heartwarming best, you will take home very warm memories of Lilly Guest Inn.

Lily's was outside of Haputhale, but close enough to walk in. View from the room was good (subject to the weather!!). Had our own balcony with chairs for when the weather was kind to us. Breakfasts were plentiful and varied and served at a time to suit us. Bathroom was nicely tiled, modern looking and decent hot water. Hosts were lovely and happy to help with ideas for visits and arranging transport. Next door was a great tuk-tuk driver (Mohammed) who always gave us a good price quote, and we ended up using him a lot during our stay.

There was some noise coming from the dining area of an evening when the hosts were handling other guest enquiries, (our room opened directly into the dining area). This was probably not the case for other rooms where they didn't open onto this part of the property. Would have been nice to have a kettle / cups in the room.

Our hosts were very attentive and arranged for breakfast and dinner at the times we scheduled. They even made a separate portion of roti for us to take for our lunch, which was very kind of them. Wi-Fi was stable and with decent bandwidth. The location is a walkable distance to Haputale center and also close to nice hiking routes.

Having dinner at the hotel is considerably more expensive (2000 LKR per person excluding any drinks) than at most sit down restaurants (800-1500 LKR) I understand charging more for the convenience of eating at your hotel, but we were not expecting such a difference when seeing the total during check-out.
