Nice comfortable room overlooking the garden. Quiet when compared to a city room. A little to far from town if you have no transport. Good breakfast. Good for exploring poas area.
Just a minor point but it could do with a sign at right angles to the road to make it easier to find.

The grounds and garden were full of flowers, butterflies and birds. So beautiful and peaceful. Charles and staff were attentive and professional.
Couldn't figure out how to get the discount mentioned in the listing.

On the good side the place have great land and a good size balcony.
The sitting at what should be a table but is cabinet you have to sit sideways for eating. Parking is a nightmare the owner come to me telling my pickup (Isuzu) was to big but no detail showed when making the reservation. No TV on the living room you have to sit on the bed to watch the TV. Hard time to set the hot water in the shower. Breakfast was Hard eggs brócoli coliflor and no possibly to ask for change the employee where afraid when we ask in case the owner heard something. Plus almos no restaurant and jus one convenient store close by

The garden (there s a bridge crossing the river down the garden) and the landscaper (nice guy that would explain and show you all the trees and plants), the ladies cooking the breakfast were nice and making a great job… Probably the tastiest breakfast I had in Costa Rica, and as a French I can tell you that I can be very picky.
My gf wanted to kill the neighbour’s rooster (city girl) I didn’t hear that lovely French national bird. Internet wasn’t that good, but as my gf doesn’t like me watching cats video on instagram, that was fine (works well by the breakfast area)

We loved our balcony looking out of lovely gardens and bubbling creek .
The nightly barking dogs and crowing roosters before daylight woke us up frequently.

This place is a great value! Charles is a gem and exudes a calm vibe. He is a gracious and long time host who shared his knowledge of the area, which adds to the value of staying there. He was able to resolve a confusing issue with booking.com. (I have since encountered this at another lodging). He ordered our dinner so we could eat without going out. Our comfort and convenience seemed to be a priority for him. Greatly appreciated! While we only had one night, he and the helpful staff can arrange tours.
Nothing significant.

What a surprise! Our last night stay in Costa Rica after nearly a month of travelling and so lucky to have ended here. It was everything that Costa Rica is - friendly, beautiful and green. The magical gardens at the rear of the property were a real surprise - you would not expect them. The host Charles is super friendly and helpful, as are all other staff. Our accommodation was large and had everything we needed - one night to rest, eat, pack, and sit on the balcony and admire the sounds and sights of Costa Rica. Breakfast was generous. Would love to have stayed longer. Thank you!
Nothing - highly recommend!

Nice property with a lovely garden across the river (there were few coffee bushes ready to be harvested and some beans have already been picked and let dry in the open air). It seems that rice and beans is the national food in Costa Rica, but here we had some variation. We stayed in few places in CR but this was the only one which actually had butter at breakfast; all the others offered margarine, even though they had better review scores. The kitchen had all that was needed, but we did not use it, except the microwave. Wi-Fi was good.
We were very grateful to Natalia which was there at 1:30 a.m. to allow us to check in. Thank you!
The property is close to a road which is quite travelled. Maybe not all the rooms/apartments are facing that road and those are quieter. Our bedroom was facing the road and it was noisy until late at night when the traffic slowed down.

Our suite was great and everyone was friendly and helpful. The property was a little haven of peace and quite. Wish we had more time to spend on the patio and relax

I like the fact that they cared about their clients, attention to details, perfect communication.
the hotel is managed by an American with a small team is locals, which would probably explain the service. we felt welcomed and safe!
they did our laundry and we were able to pay with a credit card. it costed us 15$
breakfast was good too! it takes them a bit of time to prepare but everything is fresh. if you’re in a rush plan your time wisely.
we were given a room with the windows, which wouldn’t properly close, so it was a bit noisy. we didn’t ask for a change though, as we stayed there only for few days.

The grounds are absolutely stunning! We were upgraded from La Bella to the apartment & it had the most comfortable bed in all of Costa Rica! Coffee & breakfast in the morning was fresh and had a lovely view!
We arrived to a closed gate. Not a big deal. Charles answered when I called & opened it, so thankfully I had an international calling plan. Also parking is limited & a little tricky. 1 thing that could have been better was to have a little coffee package or bottled water in the room. We had to turn around & go back out during a torrential downpour since there was nothing in the room. It was inconvenient after a very long day of traveling.

We liked the jungle feeling and the sound of the flowing river.
The breakfast was nice.
With a good jungle feeling comes the wildlife. The room is protected with massive nets, yet you might still find small bugs.
We only had hand soap in the room.
In the first morning we waited 40 min for the breakfast.

I had an amazing stay at La Terraza, from the selection of romantic suites and beautiful gardens to the magnificent breakfast menu and fresh -brewed hot coffee. In addition to its charming atmosphere, the personal tours and drivers makes it the best in town. Charles is the most gracious host you can ask for, so friendly and professional and the homemade bread by Christine is to die for! This will be the most memorable vacation ever 💛 💕! The bed I slept in was very comfortable. This was a very peaceful retreat and I will definitely stay again when visiting Costa Rica. This is a true hidden gem, a beautiful place with capabilities to host private events and catering. The bedroom amenities made me enjoy my experience with a B&B and I felt right at home. I had no worries about security because it's a gated area with plenty of lights. I will forever consider La Terraza my home away from home.
Have a very blessed life.

I didn't like that fact that I had to leave and go back to work.

The grounds are lovely and the walk across the bridge is nice. The room well set out, was clean (but there were handmarks on the windows). The fresh banana bread a nice touch. Before check in I was told the Nido room was not the best to sleep in for a baby, so I was offered a quieter room, which I appreciated.
I arrived alone (single mother) with a baby and when I arrived the owner was socialising with some friends in the common space. I was not given a formal check in- simply showed to my room and given a set of multiple keys. When I asked if I needed to sign anything I was told "this is a B&B not the Hilton". The owner did not wear a mask and entered the room which I felt a bit uncomfortable about. I then had to make four trips back to the car to unload things, each time passing the owner and his social gathering (and me carrying the baby) which I found pretty uncomfortable. The ramp to the room was very steep. I was told two times that they were the Best on Trip Advisor - and when another guest raised concern about the small parking area he was told "This isn't the Hilton". The owner had no interest in who I was, why I was there and if I was ok - things that I do expect from staying in a small independent B&B, especially as a single female traveller. The parking area is indeed very small and I had to mention to another guest which room I was in incase they wanted to get their car out- as there was not enough room to get by mine. It was a little bit hard to find also. On the back of the door in the room there is a sign asking for a tip to 'show some love' which made me wince a little bit.

Breakfast serviced by Christina is awesome. She prepared us her favourite one made of local vegetables! Walking through the bridge to the private garden is a must.
Parking may cause some trouble. We were lucky with our traveller mates, everybody was flexible, patient and good driver.
Some refreshing in the rooms would increase the experince, but still OK.
