Good location and comfortable room

Our room wasn’t ready for 3pm but the staff member made sure we got a Starbucks from the bar for free while we waited.

Pity it was under renovation as breakfast a bit spread put all over and not as good as I remember from few yes back however, reception staff lovely, it was clean. Warm and good location

A slightly cheaper rate per night would be good.

The room itself was comfortable, with a great bed and lovely facilities. The location was also excellent for exploring more of Edinburgh. Staff were also very pleasant and helpful.

Firstly, we were unaware of building work to the front entrance of the property. Secondly, we had to wait ten minutes for check in as there was only one worker on the desk - his name tag did state Derek, but as the worker we saw checking out had the same name tag I’m not sure that was actually his name. While our room was nice, our window directly overlooked a car park where the bins of the property were kept. We were also awoken during the night and in the morning by other guests and staff in the hall as the doors and walls are clearly thin. The sink in our bathroom also had a ring of mould around the plug hole which should’ve easily been removed by cleaning staff.

Housekeeping could have been a bit friendlier

The location is excellent for a theatre trip, which I was there for.

The mattress topper on the bed was overly large for the double bed I had and was folded at one side, but as I was on my own I was able to manage.

Breakfast was very good and the service was good. Hotel was a good central point to all the sites we visited. The dinner experience was wonderful with high quality food and an exceptional service team. Reception team were really helpful.

Nothing was an issue

The location of the hotel is perfect. It’s walking distance to the Christmas market and next to the mall, theater and cinema. The tram/bus are right outside and they go frequently. It’s only a 30 minute ride to the airport and the tickets cost 16£ for two people back and forth if you buy them at the airport. The bed and pillows were DREAMY. I always struggle with the hotel pillows because they are so big, but it’s the best sleep I’ve gotten (even better than home). 10/10 for bed comfort. The staff is very friendly and very helpful, always greeted with a smile :)

The breakfast selection could be better. Limited variety and even the order-to-eat selection lacked an omelette. It would be nice to have more cupcakes/muffins, maybe more types of cold cuts and cheeses.

If I had a bath in the room, but honestly this is likely an option to pay for.

Excellent location for a city break, easy access to all the points of interest. Hotel breakfast was plentiful and delicious catering for all tastes.

-breakfast staff didn't give us the extras in the first day so we didn't know we could have poached eggs for example. - they said they have on site parking. Walking 0.4 miles with crutches/wheelchair is not parking on site, is it? Staff was preety decent by it and said no we don't have parking on site. Disappointed really because when you book you should have an option to see on site parking or off site parking, they included the parking facilities when they don’t have it. Mind you I have a cast and surgery for broken bones. I did request when booked to have a ground floor room for the same reason. They could have said there is no parking right? - carpets in rooms not very clean, coffee stains all over the place, in the accessible room, bathroom chair very dirty, with brown stains, wish I could have used it... - entrance doors soaking wet carpets. For me this was a massive hazard because the minute you come inside the hotel the crutches are still wet and to slip with the crutches on hard floor is never a good idea. I wish people would be more human and truthful you know. There is no reason to lie about the parking, people with any kinds of disabilities should be treated with respect too. We deserve the same kind treatment as healthy people we shouldn't be excluded because we have a few more accessories than normal people. Wake up. We paid a lot of money to get this treatment.

Loved the rooms. Very modern comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast was also great. Great choice of everything.

The room we were in 378 was situated near the gym so you heard the door at all times banging, plus the room we felt like a dungeon with the small window looking at a wall, so if we were to stay again we would be asking to stay 4 floors or above.

The hotel is in a great location. It feels modern and well kept for the most part. The reception staff are friendly and the check in process is really easy and they helpfully store luggage ahead and after check-in. Plenty of communications prior to check in which was great. The TV didn’t work on arrival into the room and maintenance were very quick to respond to fix the issues following a call to reception.

Issues with the bathroom in particularly the shower which was really needed after a cold rainy day. Shower didn’t drain properly and then gunk came up from drain. The sink had difficulty draining too. Reported the bathroom issues via reception and were informed that maintenance would be straight up to the room but they never appeared after 3 hours. Then emailed the front desk to see if maintenance would visit or if an alternative shower could be used and had no response. Informed reception the next day on check out that the issue was still there and we hadn’t had a visit from maintenance. They said they’d send someone straight up to the room however we left for our train. Also not enough teabags and coffee in the room for two people (just a small thing and reception provided extra on request). Went down for breakfast before checkout and price increased from £12.50 to £17.50 due to not booking during check in. There’s plenty of options for breakfast nearby as an alternative.

Marriott always good, good location, reliable

I booked a twin room months ahead of our stay. Upon arrival we were told there were no twin rooms available! I believe if the hotel accepts a booking then they should honour what was booked, or give a refund.

It was easy to explore both old Town and new town. Hotel interior is stylish while exterior remains the original appearance.

Not that I can complain.

The location was good, the staff were helpful and friendly.. The bed was very comfortable.

There was very little room in the bedroom. The people we were travelling with came from Canada and had two large suitcases, there was no space for them except by the door so they struggled to get in and out of their room. My partner was disturbed by the light from the glass panels in the bathroom.

Location was at nice spot and with a good connection to the tram and bus connection.

Water pressure in the shower could be much stronger

Fantastic location, a big room, and it was very quiet and clean. The Lantern restaurant was good Nice food and cocktails.

The room was very warm and the air conditioning didn't seem to cool the room down. I did ask reception for a fan but we never received it. The bathroom doors aren't private enough! I would prefer a normal door not one you can see through.

I I think the breakfast will be better
