La grandeur des chambres et le style de l’hôtel. Le personnel est discret et très sympathique. Nous avons commencé notre séjour au Laos en dormant dans cet hôtel et nous avons terminé notre séjour en revenant dans cet hôtel avant notre départ. Quand on est bien quelque part on y revient !

Une partie du mobilier extérieur autour de la piscine mériterait d’être réactualisé ainsi que la palissade côté piscine.

The staff were amazing! Friendly, polite, and helpful. They gave the impression that nothing was too much and went to a lot of effort to support with things like booking taxis and trips. When I had trouble paying on arrival due to my bank security, they allowed us to pay on departure instead, giving me time to sort out the banking issue. The building itself is stunning! We booked the place because it looked to have character, and it did not disappoint. We stayed in one of the rooms separate to the main building, and it was lovely. It had a traditional aesthetic to it, which we really liked. It was a large room with plenty of space. We didn't feel cramped at any point during our stay. The bathroom was a good size, too. We normally never eat in hotel restaurants, but after arriving on our first day, we decided to risk it rather than trying to find somewhere local to eat! We were rather impressed, the food was good, and the dishes came in decently sized portions. The pool was reasonably sized and clean. The opening hours for the pool are long, so if like us you prefer to be out sightseeing during the day and have a dip late in the evening to cool off, this is a bonus!

Unfortunately, the major downside to this beautiful place is something that none of the staff could rectify. The noise!! Nearby is a large open restaurant that has live music. For hours every night, we were inundated with painful wailing from what sounded like a third-rate karaoke singer and thumping bass! Even the earplugs provided free by the hotel were not enough to block it out! We had seen nothing about this in the reviews we read, otherwise, I would never have booked as a light sleeper. My husband managed to sleep, but I felt physically ill by the end of our stay because of such poor sleep. I feel bad for marking the hotel down for this as it is not within their control and they have taken steps to rectify it (providing earplugs) but a warning for those of us who struggle to sleep unless our environment is silent would be fair! Without this issue, the Chandara would easily be a 9!

Lage und Sauberkeit

The pool was excellent - we were in the pool every day to cool off as some days it was 45 degrees. Breakfast was great. Plenty of choice & yoghurt & fruit which not all hotels provide. Breakfast was included in the price, which is a bonus. We also used the restaurant & the food was great. The staff were absolutely terrific - so helpful, could not do enough for us. This hotel is in the French Colonial style, which we loved. The room we had was very spacious. It's not too far from the centre of town in a tuk tuk or a taxi. We found the tuk tuks cheaper & cooler - as you drive along you get a great breeze which cools you off.

The only negative was that, although clean, the bathroom could do with a mould remover in the showere area. Everywhere else in the bathroom was fine - no problem.

Far from the downtown and touristic views Due to that I thought it will be very calm, but there a huge open-air karaoke which annoyed us The hotel is good, staff as well but this karaoke around is really a mess
