Great communication. Good location
Everything was fine.

The location was perfect. It was on a quiet street, but only five minutes from the main square and restaurants. We were able to park on the street with no charge. The smiling welcome we received from our Host was wonderful after a long drive. Our room was delightful, overlooking the garden and decorated with family portraits and antique furniture. The bed was large and very comfortable, and the bathroom, spotless. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and fresh from the bakery and what appeared to be, home made jams and our Host’s honey.
I would highly recommend this beautiful house and warm Host.
Nothing. It was delightful and perfect as it was. The door from the road gives no indication of what is inside. The only slight warning I would give is that the staircase is circular, but the bannisters are strong!

Everything! Gorgeously furnished with antiques, like visiting a museum but with all the comforts of home. M. Buss is a fantastic host, he even got us a last minute reservation for dinner that was fabulous. I definitely wish we had stayed more than one night. In my top favorite B&B’s ever❤️

A wonderful place to stay. Very comfortable beds. And a very good host, even got us a reservation in a top restaurant. And a very friendly cat. The property has atmosphere and attention to detail. We visited the tapestry of the apocalypse and it's fascinating. Angers is a place I would return to. Oh, and great shopping
Liked it all. Je reviens

Easy walking to sights, restaurants, and shops. Easy parking on street or in lot. Steps up to some rooms, but host very helpfulwith luggage. Host pleasant and offered suggestions for lunch and dinner. Bed comfortable, room darkening shutters great. Bathroom by toilet compact, but large shower. Breakfast had best croissants so far, along with homemade yogurt, jams, and honey. Juices available, as well as coffee and water.
Nothing really. Beautiful building and furnishings.

This is a charming small hotel, with a friendly, accommodating host.
Nevertheless, there was a smell of mould that made our stay unpleasant.

Beautiful atmosphere in the house due to the tasteful decoration. Matching decor with a pleasing colour scheme. All mod cons in the bathroom. Fabulous breakfast room. Satisfying continental breakfast. Very friendly, pleasant and helpful owner.
For our liking the mattress was very soft. The bed was nevertheless comfortable.

Perfect location, excellent breakfast, welcoming host

Nice appointed antique room in older home. Pleasant host, speak English well. Secure inside storage of bicycles. Good bed.
Breakfast was a little meager: a single croissant and two small pieces of baguette. For cyclists it could have been more substantial

We liked the regency style of the furnishings which seemed in keeping with the building. It was nice to have a mix of croissants and bread at breakfast. The croissants were the biggest we have ever seen and the preserves provided to go with the breakfast were really nice and may have been home made (although we didn't check this).
There wasn't anything we didn't like but being on the top floor could be a bit of a strain for those with any heart or breathing difficulties. There were other rooms available on lower floors so it would be worth checking which floor you might be on.

Great position for exploring Angers. Very different property from most other conventional hotels. Spacious room at the end of a shady garden. Parking outside (if you’re lucky). Very helpful and interesting proprietor.
Garden room was quite dark. A bit ‘worn in places. Breakfast French traditional, but quite basic, taken on first floor of house. Had to share a table with a couple of German guys. Like eating in a library…. everyone talking in hushed tones.

It is great to stay in an hotel that is small and friendly and not part of big chain. This hotel is overflowing with charm and character. A real gem!!
That our stay of two nights was too short.

Les Chambers de Mathilde is a really nice and cosy hotel with an exceptionally friendly host. The rooms are designed with a lot of love for details and are overall very comfortable. The walk in closet is a truely unique addition that was much appreciated. Cleanliness was excellent as well and the cherry tree in full blossom right outside the window was the icing on top. Breakfast was, as expected due to other reviews, excellent. Fresh croissants and bread with home made marmelade and honey, good coffee and a nice talk with the owner. As Angers is not that large of a city, nearly everything is in walking / public transport distance of the location, especially the historic city centre is just a short walk away.
It would have been nice to know, that there is a house cat. Being slightly allergic myself, I have to say that I didn't have any problems, which is a testament to the cleanliness of the hotel, but for others that might me good to know.

Anyone who gives this Chambre d'hote less than 10 out of 10, must be living in a parallel universe. If we were looking for faults, we'd have spent a lot of time and find none. Un Chambre d'hote par excellence. Many thanks.
The only thing you might dislike is the stairs, but at 72, we didn't struggle.

The greeting from the proprietor was so welcoming. She was extremely helpful in all our inquiries. Our breakfast, included in the price of the room, was beautifully presented and delicious as well. This was a star location in every way. Plus, there was a lot of history with this “Chambre”.
