We listened to the Tattoo each night from our wee balcony, great location, easy walking distance to everywhere.

The location and view of Edinburgh Castle are fabulous. The Grassmarket area was convenient and lovely. Do be aware that you have to use a winding staircase to access the room. The room is nicely furnished but lacking some basic supplies (no dish soap to hand wash our water bottles for instance)

The building vestibule and staircase are pretty dingy. The Apt itself is modern and tidy but the carpet is stained and needs replacing with something more cleanable.
The unit is well equipt for preparing meals and the laundry was a bonus.
The location was right in the thick of the tourist areas so very walkable.
The communication was prompt but not particularly friendly.

The building entrance smelled of urine and was littered. Water infiltrated the ceiling in front of our apartment and wet the floor making it slippery.
Inside the apartment the bedroom and bathroom were fine (clean and comfortable). The kitchen: dirty dishes and ustensils in dirty cupboards and dirty drawers, greasy dust on shelves and the microwave, no possibility to handwash dishes (only lukewarm water for the kitchen sink, no dish towel, no dish cloth). The only option was using the dishwasher daily. We expected better. This apartment has not been thouroughly cleaned for a long time.

Went to Edinburgh for Royal Military Tattoo. Location was literally steps away. Couldn’t have asked for a better location.

We loved staying at this property. The location is fantastic. There are a lot of stairs but we knew that going in and so it didn’t bother us. The flat was clean and comfortable and just exactly as described. We would love to stay here again on our next trip to Edinburgh.

The location of the apartment was excellent. There is everything within walking distance with restaurants and local attractions.The view of the Castle from the balcony was fantastic. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the apartment was not up to standard. On arrival the carpet was covered with pieces of white tissue so we had to vacuum before we settled in. Also pieces of crockery were chipped and although the apartment is suppose to accommodate four guests there were only two wine glasses, one huge and one very small. Small things that add up to not a great experience.

This was a comfortable apartment in a convenient location. It was great having a full kitchen. The bed was probably the most comfortable I've slept in away from home! It was a much better value than a hotel.
If staying during warmer months, I suggest bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper and might want to sleep with a cracked window. The apartment is very quiet with the windows closed but it can get a little noisy at times at night with open windows due to the bars and restaurants on the other side of the building at ground level. I imagine this is true for most places in the tourist areas.

This is in a great spot for fringe festival, my wife and son stayed here, and it was amazing! Got to listen to the Tattoo at night from the balcony! Just a great spot to view the city!

This cozy rental is perfectly placed in Edinburgh’s active Grassmarket District. The property is well equipped for 2 guests and is close to everything. We would absolutely stay again.

The place is great and although the 57 steps up were a lot after so many days walking the view made it all worth it.
The flat is in a great location to many places. The hot water was a little different and would just swing from hot to cold that made for taking a shower hard.
Would stay there again.

Fantastic location in the heart of old Edinburgh. This flat is not for the faint of heart though as there are about 60 steps to haul your luggage up to the apartment. Parking is very expensive as well. Other than that it’s well equipped and in a beautiful spot. If you have a hard time walking this is not the place for you.

This apartment is located right in the Grass Market in the Old Town of Edinburgh. Steps away from the door are restaurants, bars and shops.
The castle is in plain sight out of the windows and off the balcony - pretty hard to beat a view like that.
Everything in the apartment worked well and the accomodations are very good.
There are 3 flights of stairs to get up to the apartment so if you can't do stairs this would be a problem - we found that it was a good bit of exercise.

Edinburgh Castle
This apartment was great! It had everything we were looking forward....and what a location...close to everything or within a short walk (or let me rephrase that, either up this hill, down this hill, up those steps or down those steps. We certainly got a good workout!)
The Grassmarket location is a great spot with lots of great pubs (try the Haggis with the Whiskey sauce at The Last Drop). Also, being in an open area, I thought there would be more noise but it was relatively quite.

Terrific Location
This apartment is located right in the Grass Market in the Old Town of Edinburgh. Steps away from the door are restaurants, bars and shops.
The castle is in plain sight out of the windows and off the balcony - pretty hard to beat a view like that.

There is a parking garage 0.4 miles away and the daily cost is 30 pounds. We chose this particular VRBO listing, because they stated that parking was available. Several other listings were honest and did not include parking, if you had to rely on a parking garage. The listing did not mention that you had to walk of 3 flights of narrow stairs to get to the room. Finally, the room is within 100 meters of an arena for outdoor concerts. On the three nights we stayed in the room, there was a very loud pop concert in the evening, that made it uncomfortable to stay in the room, Finally, we could only receive the check-in instruction after they had cleaned the room on the day of arrival. That is very unusual and was cumbersome for us, since our cell phones had problems. For all the many other rentals we have on our four week tour of England, we have received the check-in instructions 1-3 weeks ahead of arrival. So overall, we felt that this rental property was not what we expected based on the pictures and the description on the VRBO listing.

The apartment was exactly as advertised - bright, comfortable and conveniently located in the Grassmarket. The only problem was with some of the local pubs. Each night we were awakened between 1 and 3 am by loud shouting from drunk revelers in the Castle Wynd directly below our window.

Can’t beat the location
If you want to be in Old Town Edinburgh, this is a great option. The apartment is in a prime location in a city that is easy to navigate by foot. It is clean, safe, and has a great view of the castle. When I booked I was under the impression it is two rooms, but it is a studio with a bed, foldout, and kitchen all in one room. Both beds are comfortable. Grocery store, restaurants, and all of Edinburgh’s attractions are nearby. The castle entrance is a few minutes walk up the staircases next to the apartment. Barry is helpful and responsive. We had a great time here.

Brilliant, modern, studio apartment in historic building with unbeatable views.
Delightfully located flat with great views of the castle and the old town. Access from Grassmarket, one of the most scenic squares in the heart of the city with numerous options for cafés, restaurants and pubs to chose from. In common with almost all the old properties, there is no lift, but the views are certainly worth it. Thanks

Great Location
This apartment is in the perfect location for anyone visiting Edinburgh and wanting to see everything you need to see. It's just a few minutes walk from Edinburgh-Waverley and the city bus tours that depart outside Waverly Mall. The apartment is suitably furnished with furniture and a complete compliment of kitchen items.

I could live in this space
The apartment was as close to perfect as you could get. Spacious, stylish, clean (although I would replace the rather worn carpet) and in a really great area. Just a few minutes walk from the High Street crowds, in a beautiful square below the main town. Explored the city during the day, and basically hung around this area in the evening as there were lots of places to eat and drink. Never got tired of the castle view. Everything worked (the UK has some rather weird rules about electricity so all the wall outlets have their own on/off switches - occasionally tricky to find the right one that need to be turned on to get power to, say, the range) and my contact, Barry, responded to questions immediately. Would rent this again without hesitation.

Room with a view!
The location of this rental was perfect for our needs. The view of the Edinburgh Castle was an amazing sight to see from the window in the morning. The Grassmarket area has many restaurants to select for dining and easy to get to the Royal Mile and train station.

Barry's flat was comfortable and nicely appointed. The location is excellent ..... on the Grass Market and very close to the Royal Mile.There was a clear view of the castle from his tiny balcony ( too small to sit on though ).
The flat is on the 4th floor without an elevator so make sure someone in your group is strong enough to carry your luggage upstairs.
Barry was accessible and very nice but we were very disappointed that he didn't give us a break on the cost of our reservation. A few weeks after making the reservation, we encountered a mental health problem with our daughter and asked for some relief on our 4-night reservation. Barry just "quoted VRBO policy" and wouldn't refund us any portion of the 2 days we had to cut our visit short. We were obviously not happy.
I also called VRBO and they said they would speak to Barry on our behalf and get back to me. They never called me back. Terrible custom service !
