The location was excellent, a five minute stroll into town. Car park right across the road. The room was very cosy with a comfy bed and pillows. Decor was very classy. Great bathroom, massive bath towels, shower was excellent and the toiletries smelled divine. It was all very well kept and clean. Dining room was nicely decorated for Christmas with a lovely tree and fireplace decked out with decorations. I would stay again. The hosts were very welcoming, and I love what they are doing.

I think breakfast could have been hotter. The locally sourced sausages were not to my taste, and the bacon a little dry. There was not a choice of white or brown toast, it just came with brown. I did enjoy it though, and there was a good choice of menu.

The room was beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were all really friendly and a big thanks to Kirsty and Helen for making us welcome.

Staff helpful and friendly, rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast was full English and filling. Close proximity to town for restaurants and bars and for culture, shopping and meandering during the day. Excellent choice of place to stay. Absolute bargain. Parking via permit in the area but available from the hotel.

Nos sentimos em casa na Portland. Cama confortável, banheiro moderno, localização excelente. O destaque especial dessa acomodação vai para o staff, extremamente solícito e atencioso (em especial, a Poppi!)

O único problema é que se ficar no andar de baixo logo cedinho vai escutar as pessoas que circulam no café da manhã. Como acordávamos cedo, não nos incomodamos com isso.

Location was good for town centre and parking arrangements worked well. The removal of duvet and replacement sheet and blanket was welcome in warmer weather.

Slightly disappointed that my poached egg for breakfast was more hard boiled than poached. Poaching eggs, keeping the yoke runny, is a skill - yet to be mastered in the Portland kitchen.

The staff, well the person who showed us in and cooked breakfast, etc, the next day was extremely welcoming, smiley, and happy to help. Pleasant surprise (I probably didn't look properly), but the parking and breakfast was included in the price! Very clean room/bathroom! The location was fantastic! It was right near the centre where we wanted to be! Price was very good for location. The breakfast was tasty (full English option).

The Portland Guest house is perfectly located. Less than 10mins walk to the shops, bars and restaurants and a few minutes drive to Cheltenham Race Course. We had pre paid a parking permit through the hosts prior to our arrival but there is ample parking in an NCP just across the road if needed. The guesthouse is clean and tidy and the room we had just right. Found the Bed a little on the soft side but wouldn’t mark the Portland down because of that. Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room with a jug of fresh water on arrival was a nice touch. Awoke to the smell of the Full Breakfast being cooked downstairs, that certainly gave us an appetite. It didn’t disappoint, my only criticism was it didn’t have Black Pudding on the menu🤨😂 All in all what a lovely place to stay, very comfortable with friendly staff we couldn’t ask for more. Would highly recommend and yes we will definitely return.More
