Location has incredible views and not long of a walk into town. It was a a nice spot to lay your head down, just not muc
Loved the views and our room was spacious! Bedding was warm and enough towels were provided.
Listed as a bed and breakfast, but there isn’t a kitchen or common area to access (behind a locked door for staff). Everything was locked and no one on site except for limited hours in the evening. The shower was very little water pressure, takes a bit to warm up but then it’s fine.

Fair
The place is across the Kent train station and beneath the B&B is a pub.
First, wifi connection is poor 👎. Next, we can’t regulate the heat of the shower the first day and we can’t find someone in the reception to help us. So we have to improvised ourselves just to have a shower. The next day, someone already helped us to regulate the shower but still a bit hot (tolerable to the skin). Lastly, smelly toilet even after flushing.

Station View Tavern: A Glimpse into the World of Unfulfilled Promises
My stay at the Station View Tavern offered a unique perspective, not just of the railway station in Cork but of what happens when the quintessential elements of a bed and breakfast embark on a sabbatical. This experience was akin to a mystery novel where the plot revolves around the curious case of the missing breakfast and elusive fire safety measures. The concept of a bed and breakfast, in my understanding, includes both a bed and a breakfast. The Station View Tavern, however, chooses to redefine this concept by offering a splendid view of the station but leaving the breakfast to one's imagination. This innovative approach ensures that your day starts with a quest, adding an element of adventure right from the morning. The building, with its Station View, could promises a journey back in time. Indeed, it delivers, right back to an era where maintenance was a notion yet to be discovered. The décor, a poignant tribute to the bygone days of splendour, now serves as a stark reminder of the fine line between antique and decrepit. The lack of basic fire safety measures was not only a breach of trust but potentially a breach of legislation. It underscored a casual approach to guest safety, transforming the establishment into a case study for the importance of adhering to fire safety regulations. The Station View Tavern provides a panoramic view of what could be, set against the backdrop of what isn't. The absence of breakfast, combined with the adventurous approach to building upkeep and fire safety, makes for a memorable stay, though perhaps for reasons more cautionary than commendatory. It is a reminder of the essentials in hospitality: food, safety, and maintenance, not necessarily in that order.
My stay at the Station View Tavern was, to put it mildly, a testament to endurance and adaptability. While I embarked on this journey with expectations of a comfortable and welcoming stay, the reality presented was a narrative straight out of a survival guide for the undaunted traveller. The First Act: A Dampened Welcome: Upon arrival, the initial room allocated to me featured an unexpected water feature—a bed thoroughly soaked due to a generous leak from the roof. This aquatic surprise necessitated an immediate room change, setting the tone for what was to become a series of revelations. The Second Act: A Study in Abstract Domesticity: The subsequent room offered an eclectic mix of interior design elements, ranging from curtains that hung in defiance of gravity and convention, to paint that seemed to be in the midst of a slow-motion departure from the ceiling. The ensuite, a realm that only the bravest of souls would dare to enter, remained a mystery, its threshold crossed only by those armed with a sense of adventure and, possibly, a disregard for personal well-being. The Environment: A Natural Alarm Clock: The room's brisk temperature provided a silver lining, ensuring that I remained vigilant and awake, prepared for any eventuality the night might bring. This natural alarm clock, while effective, was a reminder of the basic comforts that were conspicuously absent. The stay at Station View Tavern was memorable, though for reasons that one might generously describe as educational. It was a vivid illustration of the importance of maintenance, attention to detail, and, fundamentally, the guest experience. The adventure provided was one of resilience and discovery, discovering how much one can endure while away from the comfort of home. While the view of the station was as promised, the stay itself was a departure from the expected, offering instead a journey through a catalogue of the overlooked and the neglected.
