We were in room 114 this is a Lovely hotel and the breakfast and service were superior…decor was lovely!!! However the lack of any storage for our belongings made the stay somewhat difficult, we lived out of our suitcases, we also found the lighting in the seating area to be insufficient. Additionally, The only storage clothing rack was a tubular metal rack that was placed directly infront of the only mirror in the room. The bed was luxurious. The TV was difficult to manage and the lack of any local stations was frustrating.

Lovely hotel. My only advice would be to have better (ie brighter) reading lights by the beds. Otherwise, terrific!!

Great stay at The Hotel Portsmouth. Our room was beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. Free off street parking, as well as included breakfast. Location is great for exploring Portsmouth and is walkable to the whole downtown area. Would recommend staying here if you are visiting the area.

Our King standard room had the most comfortable bed and linens I have experienced in a hotel.

The property was in a charming neighborhood. The staff was very helpful with any questions about getting around and restaurants in Portsmouth. We had an amazing time and will definitely return.

Great stay!

The TV didn't let us Airplay (and staff tried to help. The bed was like sleeping in a hole. the center of the bed was about 4" higher than the sides where you sleep.

Walk to downtown Beth was great

Fun experience, the breakfast was much more than the standard eggs and sausage, location is an easy walk to downtown shopping. Plenty of parking, clean rooms, comfortable common areas. We would stay here again.

Wonderful old hotel - comforting and comfortable, but maybe in need of some freshening up? Management graciously changed my room after the door to my original room took two adults to open. Also, I don’t want to have press all the buttons in case the elevator won’t go. I just want it to go. The breakfast was extraordinary- like a continental breakfast and a committed foodie had a baby. I could not count, let alone eat all of the delicious offerings. The room into which I was moved would have cost a lot more than what I paid for a small, single room,. The new room was lovely - big claw tub and all. But it was on the third floor, it was a bit musty, and not worth the $$$$ usual price for a future stay. The hotel’s convenient location to all the shops, museums, and restaurants of downtown Portsmouth is the greatest factor that makes it a hotel I recommend.

It’s not cheap, but believe us: the breakfast is so good you won’t miss the extra bucks. Lovely people in a perfect location, near all the action in town.

The room was very dusty and someone else’s trash was in the trash can on our arrival. Other than the housekeeping issues, we loved the hotel. Breakfast was very nice. We would come back again to stay.

The ceiling of our room has a leak and water was dripping at night. It was difficult to sleep.

Funky, speak-easy decor that they really pulled off. Beautiful wood and high ceilings throughout. Helpful staff. Many spaces you can hanh out in the hotel, including a pool table room and outdoor patio. The only downside would be that the walls are a little thin.
