Very welcoming staff. Close to downtown Tamarindo and beach, walking distance! Room was comfortable for four of us except the beds were too hard as well as pillows. Nice place to stay.

The bathrooms are a bit old and could be renovated. Black out drapes definitely needed.

Great little hotel, secluded and only a block or two from the beach. Great to get away from the noise of downtown. Very relaxing place to stay.

Great location, a couple blocks from the beach. Clean and the service was amazing, Kathryn was so sweet and accommodating. Will be back because of her.

My kids and I loved Hotel Luna Llena! We appreciated that although everything is in walking distance, we felt like tucked away from the craziness of the night life. The staff is welcoming and warm. Hotel Luna Llena is perfect for travelers who are looking for a well-maintained, relaxing, and family-compatible smaller hotel that provides a perfect base station for exploring Tamarindo. Highly recommended!

Russell, the property manager, was helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was great and made to order. I requested something on the healthy side and received just that. The manager also took time away to show me the way into town.
Most impressive, I saw how he diffused and prevented (obnoxious friends of a guest) from staying at the property.
This quaint hotel is a well run machine with gracious and friendly staff! I look forward to staying again!

Overall the staff was friendly and courteous epically manager (Catherine). I did recommend blackout curtains for second floor due light shining through at night.

We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The little separate round houses were quaint. The grounds were pretty and well maintained. Breakfast was wonderful and cooked right at the pool bar area

Good value hotel, clean, friendly staff. Location: close to the beach and restaurants, in an alley from the main street. Street on the way to the hotel is dusty and smelly, but property is clean and well maintained.

This hotel is picture fancy. The bungalow looks nice from outside. The inside is darker and a bit old. There is a kitchenette, we didn’t use it. Upstairs space is quite small and extremely hot even with air conditioner. Downstairs bathroom has an outdated shower head which fell off the wall several times while taking shower.
The good art is the staff. They are very friendly and respond to our requests quickly. The receptionists speak good English, the housekeepers and breakfast serving people don’t.

This hotel was a little oasis. We were worried that Tamarindo was doing to be too busy and touristy but this hotel was located at the quiet end of the beach, which was only a short walk away. There are restaurants and shops within walking distance. We traveled as a family and ate most nights at a little group of food trucks, which weren't as expensive as the beach restaurants. The pool was lovely to cool down in after spending the mornings at the beach. We were in a standard room on the bottom floor of the main building and couldn't hear our neighbours at all. In the day, there was some construction or maintenance going on, which was a bit loud but not too bad. In the evening the room was totally quiet. No traffic noise at all because the hotel is at the end of a little dead-end cul-de-sac. The room we were in didn't have blackout curtains, which allowed beautiful light. However, I recommend traveling with an eye mask because it gets light early. The air conditioner worked well, plus there was a fan, fridge, microwave and tv in the room. The hotel's front staff were very friendly. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

The bar was being updated for the upcoming season so we didn't get to enjoy it, however all else was great. Staff were always friendly and all issuess were adressed immediately. Beach was a 5 minute walk. The roads are dirt roads filled with potholes but that has nothing to do woth the property. Would def stay here again.

Lovely stay...just 3 days....2 couples and we both had our own private bungalow. Pool was great... reakfast each morning was great...easy walk to beach and downtown for dining and shoppig but quiet street off the main road so qiuet at night. Would certainly recommend this place!

Our stay was good, but definitely not praising this place as much as others.
The hotel manager was VERY nice and super helpful. The interesting thing is that when reading previous reviews, they praised the staff. That was not the case for us. We found them extremely unfriendly.
There is one woman, who may be the office manager? She was almost to the point of being rude to us. The women who served breakfast made no attempt to smile or greet us.
We stayed for seven days. On day 4, I requested that our sheets be changed. It didn’t happen. On day 5, I asked Russell and it did happen, but not without angry looks from the staff.
I understand the language barrier, but this was different. They seemed hostile towards us, which is not something that we have experienced in Costa Rica on our many visits.
This is a three star resort and we expected three star, not four or five. But…our family did book a full week with three rooms, so minimally, I would expect a smile and clean sheets.
Sorry Russell! You have your work cut out for you.

The Luna Llena was a perfect stay for me. The location is great. Walking distance to food, shops, yoga studio, beach. It's very quiet and cute and the staff are warm. The room was very clean and the hotel was safe. If you're a yogi like me they have yoga offered on site or walking distance to local studio or beach yoga where I practiced everyday. It's also a great spot for yoga retreat. I would definitely return when back in Costa Rica. Thank you!

We really enjoyed our stay at this quaint resort. It was clean and quiet. Easy 2 block walk to the beach. The hot tub was out-of-order but who needs it with such beautiful weather (highs in the 90's, lows about 78). The A/C worked great. Truly a pura vida place.

This was a treat to stay at during our 15-day trip around Costa Rica with 3 days in Tamarindo. It's small and quiet but quite unique and the villas were perfect for our family of 4. Would definitely stay here again.
