The lighting - only enough good lighting for one to read the newspaper at the table and poor lighting for shaving in the bathroom.
Also just a point -the body lotion container in the otherwise beautifully appointed bathroom was empty.

The location was convenient aa we stayed one night and flew out next day. The room itself was fine but the beds were very unsupportive and uncomfortable. For the price of the hotel and brand of hotel I was anticipating a higher level of bed and comfort. I probably would not stay here again.

The room was very small and poorly lit. When we arrived from a late flight we were told there would be no water after 10:30 which resulted in unnecessary stress as the water didn’t go off. Poor value for money.

Very nice hotel for our overnight stay before flying out in the morning. They had a luggage check, we arrived before check in and were able to leave our luggage and do some sight seeing.

Room was ok, very much a traveller room, although paid higher for a queen. Bed was awful, lumpy, obviously an old mattress as there was a thick lumpy cover on it. Worst nights sleep in a very long time!

The room was only half-cleaned. A dirty towel was left on the bathroom's floor. The garbage bin was full. They had plenty of time to clean the room as I checked in well after midnight. I stayed at cheaper hotels and never had these problems. Terrible experience overall.

Room was next to lift operations, kept awake most of the night. Air con way too noisy, had to turn that off as well. Restaurant Le Petit Reveur avoid like the plague unless you seriously rich or you dont care.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded. It was our anniversary. We had views of the runway, access to the Exec longe with drinks and snacks and breakfast. It was fabulous.
Staff were excellent overall.
Only negative was breakfast in main dining room. Previously the Sofitel buffet has been excellent in quality and choice. Choice here limited. Food was Luke warm and staff were disinterested/ paid no attention. Did not take away from an otherwise lovely stay, but something the management will want to improve.

The hotel would have been a five, but the shower in our room was quite possibly the worst shower design I've ever seen - within seconds of turning on the shower water had overflowed from the shower directly into the bathroom. A 5 minute shower filled the entire bathroom with a solid inch of water that remained on the floor the duration of our stay. Using the bathroom in the middle of the night and walking across a sopping wet floor was pretty dismal.

The room was way too hot. I turned the air con down from the 27c it was set at and it turned itself back up to 27c multiple times.
Firstly room temperature should be around 20c.

Room was small and poorly lit. Had requested down-alternative bedding but discovered a feather-filled mattress pad, no doubt intended to compensate for a lumpy mattress past its prime. Complained to receptionist on duty and said she would need to talk to her manager but she did not get back to me. Choice of hotels at Gatwick is limited and this hotel may be the best of a number of bad alternatives. Still not good value for the money paid.

I booked a room with Queen bed but was given a room with 2 single beds. I only realized that upon entry to room but having checked in at 2:45/3am, I was too tired to go back down to reception to change rooms, it would have been nice to get the room that I had booked/paid for. Other than that, everything else was good - easy access to Gatwick terminal / shuttle and room was clean.

We booked a room for our honeymoon through hotels.com and upon arrival we were told we were upgraded to a suite with a runway view with access to the exclusive lounge. Staff were friendly and attentive. Thanks for everything, we will be back.
