This is a beautiful hotel, right by the gardens and promenades of Eastbourne's main beach. Service is excellent, food is extremely good and bedrooms a very good size, well furnished and with comfortable beds and chairs. The hotel is very dog friendly, with lounge and dining areas where your dog can be with you and there were many dogs there when we stayed. Help for the disabled was particularly good. They have a disabled lift for access to the building, but whilst we were there this wasn't working, so staff met us at the entrance steps, helped us up or down, and took our mobility scooters through the basement and up in the service lift to the ground floor for us. Nothing was too much trouble for them. There is free disabled parking right opposite the property, and permits are issued for abled drivers just a few yards up the road. A wonderful hotel, and we shall certainly be returning.

My favourite hotel in Eastbourne, staff and rooms excellent

The room need an upgrade. Lack of A/C in the summer was a challenge. Please get better towels. A disappointment.

Charming hotel where you want to take things slow and have tea or cocktails in the lounge (we did both: the afternoon tea was excellent). The staff is helpful, the rooms are big and confortable (but a bit hot when your room is not facing the sea) and the breakfast buffet has great options. The beach is on the other side of the street, the pier is a short walk away and there was a lot of restaurants to choose from nearby. We walked to and from the train station easily and, much more strenuous but so worth it, to the Seven Sisters cliffs. If I ever come back to Eastbourne, The Lansdowne would be my choice again.

I booked The Lansdowne for a spur of the moment short stay and was so pleased I did. All the staff from Reception, Housekeeping, and Restaurant were friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel's communal areas were beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard and comfortable, as was my seaview bedroom. I am looking forward to booking another stay in the not too distant future.

The Landsdowne is a very good comfortable hotel. It may be a little dated but it had all the amenities I needed and was perfect for my stay by the sea

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Our room was newly decorated, fresh and clean. Hotel reception staff very welcoming. Hotel public rooms are all very comfortable. Only downside is finding free parking, which we did a short walk away. Also, our room looked out of the back of the property over the kitchen facilities but we did choose this cheaper option. Overall a great stay and we would return.

We felt welcome upon arrival. The hotel is quietly well appointed and local to lots of amenities. The bar food and breakfast were very flavoursome and not overly expensive. We will definitely return.

Thr online check-in made the process extremely easy and, although the hotel is looking a tad tired in places, it was still a very comfortable stay and the staff were excellent.

The service is good. Room is good. Breakfast is good. Wifi is ok. But didn't have air conditioner. The room is liitle bit old.

We had a great stay in the hotel (2 adults, 2 kids, 2 nights). Our room was bright and clean, and surprisingly spacious. Upon arrival, we noted that we were expecting an extra bed in our room; one was promptly sent up and made up. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is 3-stars for a reason: it hasn't been refurbished in a long time, so if you're looking for examples of cutting edge design, you might try somewhere else (probably outside of Eastbourne?). But The Lansdowne is very well looked after by the staff, and this gives the hotel a lovely nostalgic feel. Whenever we're headed to Eastbourne again we'll try to stay there first.

Excellent, charming hotel. Not overly grand, but comfortable, clean, beautiful and extremely friendly. It felt like a home, like I wanted to just hang out in the lounge all day looking at the sea and chatting with people. It had a kind of magic that is hard to describe. The sea view from my room was spectacular, the bed was comfy, everything was as hoped. Above and beyond was the breakfast - easily the best I've ever had, with a ton of options, all of them first class. Dinner in the restaurant was also the best dinner I had in Eastbourne. It's a really great restaurant. The location was wonderful - west of the pier, where it's quieter and more genteel, with a gorgeous lawn right out front, and sea and promenade beyond it. You can walk to the pier in 10 minutes, but I was more impressed by the walk along the beach going the other way, towards Holywell, Italian Gardens and the South Downs. It was all much prettier than I expected. I am already planning my next trip back to the Lansdowne. It was a really great, relaxing trip.

My friend and I stayed here for a couple of days very good location, friendly staff, and great breakfast. I took my two adult daughters there last year and we had a great time, so decided to tell my friend and we decided to go to the same hotel. She too throughly enjoyed her stay. We also enjoyed the shops, and Tina Turner Tribute night at the bandstand. Brilliant.

Well located for sea front, parking opposite (get a ticket at reception) could be limited in summer. Clean and nicely decorated in room, friendly staff, good variety for breakfast and tasty. Room was a little noisy from creaky floorboards in adjacent rooms and banging doors(shame).

Very happy with the hotel downstairs. The bar and restaurant was great! Lovely breakfast and dinner. Not so happy with our seaview double. Looked very tired and old fashioned. The mattress on the bed was quite thin and uncomfortable. This was mentioned to reception. The bathroom was also tired and needed updating. The WI-FI was very bad! Great location for everything.

Was a very good stay. Clean and modern all areas in hotel. Staff very Welcoming.

Nice old charm Hotel, staff very friendly plenty of lounge areas to find quiet comfortable seating for socialising. Excellent breakfast, plenty of choice and hot will definitely visit again.

Th property is kind of aged, need a bit of work to freshen up. We got blocked basin on arrival and toilet on the morning we left. Breakfast was ok, coffee not good. Anyway it was a great weekend no problem to get around on foot.

Been staying there 17 yrs my favourite go too for some sea air walks stunning views lovely comfortable hotel lovely staff rooms etc etc too much to mention!

Ive stayed here five times absolutely love this hotel. Comfortable ,quiet, great views from my room. Staff excellent. Its the only place i would stay in Eastbourne. Cosy lounges to relax and read. Breakfast outstanding. Highly recommend.

Just to say thank you to all of staff

My assessment would have been higher but for one thing. My wife and I thoroughly dislike UHT milk and it is our customer to ask for a small jug of real milk for our tea and coffee.This has always been willingly provided in a wide variety of establishments from four star hotels to village pubs. I was therefore staggered, on checkout, to be ask for £1 to pay for the tiny jug of milk we had asked for the previous evening. To add insult to injury the milk had gone off overnight was useless for our tea. Such meanness beggars belief!

Very happy with our stay. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable though :)

We stayed in a family room which was clean and close to the beach, with some restaurants around. There is no USB socket in the room so need to bring your own sockets to charge your phones and devices. Pillows are too soft. Breakfast was included, with cold and cooked buffet for selection.

Hotel was lovely inside and out, plenty of comfy seats by the window to sit and chat if you didn't want to be in your room. The room was big, clean and well furnished with plenty of storage, the bed was softer than we like but you can't cater to everyone's taste. Parking was out the front with the public but we got an all day pass from the hotel for £2 and got a space okay
