Excellent service great food lovely rooms

Really lovely place to stay. Comfortable bed, fantastic breakfast with lots of options. Good evening meal and good range of beers. Staff all cheerful and efficient. Definitely like to return.

Hotel was well placed for many attractions. Staff were all lovely and very helpful. Food was excellent value in the restaurant. Breakfast was varied and plentiful.

A friend and I stayed here as we are walking the Pilgrims Way. A fantastic find. Friendly staff, really nice and cosy rooms, quiet at night. Had dinner in the bar, lovely food and great service. As other reviews say, breakfast was a bit slow, possibly the kitchen not the service staff as they seemed on the ball. Breakfast was v tasty anyway when we did get it. Overall definitely recommend

Comfortable and convenient

It was a brilliant stay,friendly staff, reallylovely breakfast.

There was no one at reception when I arrived and I had to wait while she poured pints at the bar. The breakfast was chaotic, no plates, cups, not much selection and only one member of staff. The young girl was great, she was trying her best while dealing with impatient customers. The room looked good, bed was creaky and too soft and the temperature was way too hot. The bathroom was tired, dated and looked dirty around the shower/bath. I don’t think I will be back but the dog and bear gave me what I needed and that was a place to sleep.

Nice clean room, friendly staff, and breakfast was great. Bathroom was a bit tired, but otherwise a nice hotel.

An amazing place with really good quality furniture fixtures and fittings let down unfortunately by not being very clean. Sink was dirty. The fan unit in the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for literally years. At night with the lights on you could see thick dust on the wall paper and curtains. What a shame, lovely old building that’s clearly had lots spent on it but not maintained.

The room was freezing cold on arrival and didn't really heat up very much at all using the radiator which was there, which I turned onto full as soon as I arrived. Cleanliness was average but the room was a 'little tired' and would benefit from new carpet and some re-touching of the paintwork etc. The bathroom was average but really needs some re-design as quite dated with some DIY looking fixings in places. The hot water took a long time to come through, which was frustrating as it meant a lot of wasted water to get it to come through warm. The meal was fine, but definitely nothing to write home about. Given the prices, it should have been better to reflect not only better value but other similar restaurants. VERY disappointing to be served a chilled bottle of red wine, which completely ruined a £30 bottle of wine. You definitely need 3 course as the portions were small. The dessert was the best part. We were served by 4 different staff at the same table none of home wore a uniform or even a logo on the t-shirt, so identifying who was staff when I needed assistance was difficult. Overall, it was fine, but there are much better options available. This could be a fabulous experience as the hotel is located in a nice location. Hopefully, this feedback will help the hotel improve and reach it potential.

Been going to the Dog & Bear for many years and always find it comfortable and friendly, with good breakfast, friendly staff without being overbearing. We stay there while visiting old friends in Lenham. A special mention and thank you to Lauren.

A nice characteristic hotel in the centre of the village. All Rooms were rustic but very comfortable. The only minor issue was the menu in the restaurant which was quite limited and expensive, but what we had was very nice. The staff were extremely friendly.

Quiet, comfortable, clean. Toiletries were excellent. Food was very good.

The hotel is set in a really nice Kent village, the room was clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was generally very good, but there were just several small issues. - The car park appears to have had too many spaces crammed into it and so is extremely tight. - The TV remote control did not work even after changing batteries - The water temperature goes from ice to fire with virtually no in between - The shower was feeble - The scrambled eggs at breakfast time were so dry they looked more like loft insulation - Only one waiter at breakfast seemed too few Bizarrely though I still liked the hotel, it could just be so much better

Friendly staff and food was well presented and delicious.

Lovely traditional local village pub/hotel, rooms were very clean and comfortable. The pub is lovely and the locals are nice. Staff were all brilliant. the only complaint was the tv and remote need to be checked. I would highly recommend staying here and it is brilliant value for money.

The bed was very comfortable so I slept well but unfortunately our bathroom had a couple of hairs in it. The breakfast was terrible, service was slow, eggs were really overdone. For a quick, affordable overnight stop on the way to Dover port it did the job!

Clean comfortable room in a lovely village. Perfect for attending events at The Tithe Barn. Bathroom could do with a paint touch up but all clean and nice toiletries. Breakfast lovely, good choice.

Stayed overnight before catching the Eurotunnel to France.

Returned again to the Dog and Bear, always happy with our room, food and service we receive. We Will be back again soon. 😊
