Such a lovely place right in the old town and a five minute walk to the sandy beach. The beds are very comfy and the apartment is very clean. If we come back to Maderia, we will be back. The owner is wonderful, friendly and replied to any queries we had very quickly.

Schön und modern eingerichtetes Apartment mit toller Lage. Es war sauber und die Bilder entsprechen der Wirklichkeit. Alles vorhanden was man braucht - von Küchenausstattung bis hin zu Duschgel und Conditioner. Harte Matratze was sich aber als super zum schlafen erwies. Bei Problemen war schnell jemand telefonisch zu erreichen. Direkt gegenüber vom Eingang liegt ein Cafe in dem wir mehrmals gefrühstückt und Abend gegessen haben. Der Stand ist in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Appartement. Ansonsten ist man mit dem Auto auch schnell in Funchal oder den umliegenden Städten / Dörfern.

Vorab... wir würden diese Unterkunft trotz der folgenden Punkte wieder buchen. Lüftung im Bad unzureichend. Nachdem zwei Personen duschen waren bleibt die feuchte Luft auch wenn man den Lüfter weiter laufen lässt noch teils Stunden im Bad. Lüfter vermutlich zu schwach und die Luftbachströmung zu gering. Fensterlüftung nur bedingt möglich da keine Fliegengitter vorm Fenster waren. Somit hatten wir fast jede Nacht Stechmücken im Zimmer. Bauarbeiten im Gebäude und im Nachbargebäude. Ab 8 Uhr morgens war die Nachtruhe vorbei und der Lärm der Maschinen ging los. Außerdem konnte man den Sonnenschutz / Sichtschutz im Schlafzimmer nicht öffnen da man sonst quasi Augenkontakt mit den Bauarbeiten von nebenan hat (zwischen den Gebäuden liegt nur eine schmale Gasse). Den ersten morgen wussten wir das nicht und haben die Bauarbeiter in Unterwäsche gegrüßt. Teils schwierige Parksituation. Wir sind an einem sonnigen Samstag um 12 Uhr ca angereist und wollten vor Check-In die Gegend noch erkunden. Alle, wirklich alle Parkplätze waren belegt... Zu der Zeit hatten wir leider noch keine Tipps zum Parken vom Host bekommen. Es dauerte über eine halbe Stunde einen Parkplatz zu bekommen. Außerdem sind in direkter Nähe zum Appartement alle Parkplätze kostenpflichtig (Montag bis Freitag 8-19 Uhr und Samstag 8-13 Uhr). Allerdings sind die Kosten recht günstig. An Wochentagen war es mit ein paar Minuten suchen möglich einen Parkplatz zu finden. Ansonsten empfiehlt es sich die kostenlosen Parkplätze in der Nähe vom Kreisel bei der Tankstelle zu nutzen und den Rest zu Fuß zu gehen (ca 10 min).

Everything was as presented.

We had a great time at Fort Bay Apartments. The building has been renovated recently and everything is modern and perfectly clean. The location could not be more convenient: in the heart of Machico, one block from the sea, and a few minutes from the bus station. Our apartment on the top floor was well appointed and organized. In the lovely sunny bedroom there was a quirky corner balcony with a sea view beyond the fort. Machico is a charming town and an excellent base to explore the north coast of Madeira and Ponta de São Lourenço. And after a hike you can relax on the golden sand of Machico beach!

Perhaps some towel racks could be added in the bathroom. As it is, with just a couple of hooks, the towels can’t really dry.

Everything was great, the location is perfect, a few steps from the beach, the apartment is new, has beautiful design, is specious and very clean. We appreciated the welcome package and also the host was very nice and responsive.

Window nets at least on one window would be nice to be able to leave it open since there are mosquitos and small lizards around. Also the washing machine from the common area were usually busy with sheets.

Absolutely everything! It was clean, central, communication was amazing, there is everything you need in the appartment. I highly recommend this place.
