The whole facility including the room is new/modernized inside and clean. Nice stuff and super good breakfast containing many kinds of choices. The room is quiet at night. Walking distance ~7min to fish wharf
Parking fee ~50$. Wi-Fi >15$. The Wi-Fi charge is ridiculous in downtown Monterey.

Comfortable bed and good location
The shower didn’t work well, no water pressure. And me and my husband were too tall for it. the door of the bathroom was always closing by itself, very annoying.

AC didn’t work in our room. Had engineering to our room SEVEN times in two days to fix with only temporary luck. We arrived just after midnight and unpacked before realizing the AC wasn’t working. The front desk offered us to move to a different room or to send an engineer to look at the AC and we chose the latter. The next morning when the AC still wasn’t working we asked to be moved to a different room and was told the hotel was sold out. A quick internet search showed they were lying. Also the night before I had asked for a fan to be brought to our room and they said they didn’t have any portable fans at the hotel, but the next day when they refused to move us to a different room, they offered to bring us a fan! 😳😡 We had valeted our car for $39 a day and were told to call down 10 or 15 minutes prior to leaving to receive our car. We had dinner reservations in Carmel and asked for our car and went downstairs and waited 30 minutes for our car to be delivered! I had to ask several attendants where my car was before it finally appeared at which time they delivered it in the street instead of using the circle drive where everybody else’s car was brought! When leaving for dinner I asked the front desk to have engineering come to our room to work on the air conditioner again because it still wasn’t working. When we returned, no one had been to our room. I called down to the front desk to ask again to send somebody up to work on the air conditioner and still no one appeared. Finally I went down to the front desk and asked if they could send somebody up to work on the AC. At 4 o’clock in the morning I went down to the front desk and asked again if they could send engineering up to the room to fix the AC since it was so hot and uncomfortable. At this time I asked to have our room comped because this was completely ridiculous and they had failed to fulfill their end of the contract which included air conditioning in our room.

The swimming pool is not clean. a lot of leaves and feathers. The pool is not maintained well.

The location is perfect for access to Monterey and Carmel area. The room size was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. It was nice to use the valet service, and they were prompt in getting the vehicle for us. The food quality in the restaurant is very good. The valet charged our vehicle on our final night without asking, a pleasant surprise. The check in staff was excellent. House cleaning was exceptional.
The pricing for the hotel is a little high. The pricing for the restaurant is very high. $30 each for breakfast buffet. Root Beer float for $15. With the exception of the front desk staff, the rest of the staff appeared to be well trained in customer service in general, but easily rattled. For example, asking for a different wine selection when the current one does not taste good. It would be nice to have a way of tipping the staff without having to carry cash, especially valet and house keeping. Perhaps add a feature on the hotel mobile app.

The location were great and easy to access. The rooms were clean and comfortable as also the lobby, bar etc. The breakfast buffet were great but perhaps a bit expensive.
The hotels in this area are a bit too expansive compared to what they offer. The pool area didnt live up to our expectations.

No housekeeping provided for 2 night stay, despite asking for it. Felt the front desk staff at check-in de-valued us for using a booking site. Bathroom was great size but so dark that I looked like I was 20 but am really 60! No bathroom amenities such as lotion, Q-tips, etc. Initially I thought we were in for a great stay as seemed like a nice place, but have to say we were let down by the Marriott.

Conveniently located right near the pier and in the heart of charming downtown. The beds are comfortable and nice and firm, which has been hard to find in many hotels I’ve tried in Monterey where the beds are too soft. The room was well appointed, clean and modern with good amenities. — and a great value. I’ve started at more expensive hotels, such as the Clement or Portola. And the Marriott has them beat bed-wide.
My only peeve was that the ned comforter was so small. My partner and I both had hands and feel sticking out because of how small it was.

Gym not on ground floor, it is on 2nd floor what cause people complaining on the floor underneath.
Front desk tried to charge full amount even I had paid full price through the app in advance. Not nice .

The hotel was very nice and clean, pretty big
1. On breakfast they charged us extra for the coffee (without telling so a head)
2. We were 2 families. On arrival they claimed we reserved 1 room only, although we showed the booking which clearly said 2 rooms - so our friends had to book and pay for the second room separately.
Two weeks later we discovered they charged us for the 2 rooms without saying anything (as if we cancelled the second room and need to fully pay for the room). Now we need to call from another country to settle the issue and prove it was fully paid by our friends.

I have contacted the hotel and booking site at least 12 times via msgs mails and calls, yet the double charge is not yet returned and every time I call I get a requests for another proof and another proof and another proof, as if the hotel cannot just see how much they charged us, and see the second reservation and it's payment. (we sent screenshots of all payments 4 times already)
You should be ashamed of yourself! Even the smallest cheapest hotel I wouldn't expect such behavior, so a nice decent expensive place like that? to cheat your guests this way (without mentioning anything about double charge) is a big black flag on this place, and for 2 weeks am just being ignores.

I really enjoyed the location, downtown Monterey. And walking distance to many restaurants. Enjoyed the cleanliness and comfortable hotel stay and restaurant and bar. Excellent hotel staff and great valet personnel’s.

the location and proximity to other stores was good.
Gave me a connecting room and you could hear everything from the other room - not good when you have kids trying to sleep. The water pressure in the shower wasn’t great, and the drain wouldn’t open up all the dirty water was slow going down.

The location of the hotel, right down the street from great restaurants, the trolly stop is just across the street by the Portola’s Conference Center that goes into Canary Row.
Mini fridge wasn’t on the booking, would have pack better food. Microwave would have been nice for midnight snacks needing to be heated up.
